Mokmurian is a wizard, I'm pretty sure. It was part of his backstory that his people shunned him when they realized he cast his spells from study rather than natural aptitude.

True. My bad,as I said, didn't have the book in front of me.

In my campaign, one of my PCs is playing a LG warforged cleric of Iomadae named Relic. The backstory that he came up with was actually really interesting and I've been working on a way to link him to the events occurring through the campaign. Basically, he was created by Ordikon in Runeforge, along with three others, as a new form of golem guardian for use in Xin-Shalast in the defense of Karzuog. Once the fall of Thassilon came, Ordikon kept them in Runeforge in case of an emergency, believing that, once Karzuog awoke, he would require powerful servants of greed. During the ordeal in the Abjurant halls Relic was sent forth to do battle. Unfortunately for Ordikon, during the ensuing onslaught of magical energies (including several prismatic abjurations) Relic appeared to be destroyed, only molten gold left where he once stood.

In fact Relic was blasted to a random location several hundred miles away, having been not only dropped to inert status, but his physical composition changed dramatically. A spelunker stumbled upon him in a cave a few years later. Realizing the value of his find, he disguised the body by encasing it in plaster and shipped him off to Riddleport. While there the unscrupulous spelunker was killed by loan sharks and the "statue" was auctioned off to a Magnimarian noble within a month. Said noble then donated the statue to Father Ezakian Tobyn for services performed for his family. Father Tobyn believed, mistakenly, that the statue was an ancient portrayal of Abadar and placed it in front of the old chapel. It was during the "Recent Unpleasantness" that, during a mass casting of a minor curative spell, Relic awoke and burst forth from his plaster housing. Having no recollection of where he came from or who he was, he decided to live in this town where he discovered that he took to religious studies well.

Forgive me if my timeline is a little vague, I'm mostly sure that the events could take place as such, but I haven't finished reading the entirety of all of the issues.

I have decided that this character will have a Legacy, as per the Weapons of Legacy book. He will not be a monster of legacy and will still need to perform legacy rituals and pay all respective costs. I realized that, if I had to fake this, Warforged start out with an Armor bonus and thus are a form of armor. I know this is a stretch, but its for fun.

I'm trying to figure out some unique abilities to give to him, seeing that he is a form of intelligent golem designed to be a guardian of Greed. This is what I have so far, but I would appreciate other ideas as well:

Several of the Rituals:
-Donate the entire sum of character wealth of the level this is performed at to charity -OR- Using whatever means necessary, acquire that same sum in addition to other earned gold at that level. I feel that this allows the player the option of a mutable legacy (which i honestly believe he won't take down the evil path) just in case he wants to move to the dark side...

-Defeat a powerful Giant sorceror (I believe Mokmurian was, I don't have the book in front of me.)

-Defeat his creator, the Mithral Mage.

OMEN: Relic gains proficiency with a glaive (this is not unbalancing as he is focussed on longsword for Iomadae)

The spell Blood Money would become a spell like ability, usable perhaps 3/day.

He would gain access to the Inscribe Rune feat which I am not allowing to other players.

Spell like abilities such as Statue, Passwall, Stoneskin, Disintegrate, Flesh to Stone (appearance of gold).

Give him the abilities of the Glove of Strength Stealing and the Golden helm of Xin-Shalast from the Magic of Thassilon pdf.

With regards to armor abilities I had considered Glamered, Blueshine, and Commanding, allowing him to appear to be made of actual Gold.

Bonuses to Transmutations such as Ability Enhancer from Dragon Compendium.

I could use some feedback on these, I'm not planning on using them all, obviously, but if someone has a definite opinion on these ideas one way or another, I'd appreciate it.

Lessee here, I'm starting this campaign in about two weeks. This is the most recent list of info on my players' concepts:

Relic: Warforged Cleric of Iomadae [LG]. Originally created as a soldier in ancient Thassilon, he was damaged to the point of being inert ever since. A cleric found his body in some Thassilonian ruins and, believing him to be an elaborate statue, plastered over him and placed him in his temple to Iomadae where he subconsciously learned the teachings of the church. Almost by accident, he was resuscitated through a casting of some mass cure spell (perhaps during the Recent Unpleasantness). He awoke with a glaive in his hand that he was strangely comfortable wielding, and an unusual, damaged, etching of a seven pointed star on his hand.

Sylon: A shoanti Barbarian [CN?](possible multi-classed rogue) from the Shadde-Quah (Axe Clan) specializing in extended rage abilities. Sylon is a rebuild from a very old campaign (1st ed. i think), the epitome of the adventurer, Sylon would try anything, anytime, anywhere for fame and fortune. Hopefully the tribal element of this race will not be lost on my brother who is playing him.

"Twin Elven Brothers": No names as of yet, they are Scout [CG](multi-classed with ranger) and Factotum [CG]. Having fled their woodland city for "unknown" reasons, they traveled south towards Sandpoint with the intention of, ironically, doing pretty much exactly what Shalelu is doing there now. They each must also be in line of sight of one another at all times or risk being shaken (a special flaw designed for them, should make cover interesting...)

"Varisian Escapee": A Varisian Necromancer [NG](Specifically no undead! His idea) Captured by Chelish Devil-Binder outcasts attempting to recreate a powerful, ancient magic (once again, strange irony in this group), they experimented, killing most of his caravan. He, however, survived their ordeals and became uncannily powerful because of it. A sympathetic Varisian working with the Chelaxians decided that the best blow dealt to them would be to take away what they sought. Thus, he was given his Varisian Tatoo to further his potency, enabling him to escape.

???: The character I know the least about: Duskling Totemist (I'm ok with this, he's not an optimizer) No story as of yet, which kinda hurts, but after reading RotR #2, I noticed something I may use if it doesn't come up in further issues. There are some pamphlets given as treasure from Justice Ironbriar's Possessions about a forgotten school of magic known as the Alchymyc. This doesn't seem important enough in the AP to be referring to the sin magic, so I'm assuming that it is not intended to be integral. Therefore, I may make it into a book that reveals the nature of Incarnum to the PCs as this character may also be rather unique.

Developing the uniqueness of these characters is important to me and the campaign on the whole. I previously posted a thread on Player's Reward Points where PCs could add little custom flourishes to their characters. In these examples, I've come up with some ideas for rewards, such as Relic becoming a legacy item (the warforged armor can be enchanted just like any other piece of armor, he'll have the same penalties and challenges to overcome, and I'll dole out abilities in accordance with the level of knowledge on Thassilon within the party), The Varisian Necromancer will gain some very slight undead-like traits, akin to those given by the Dread Necromancer class (i think) I'm still working on other specifics for the other characters, but these are my current thoughts.

I've just come up with an idea for enhancing the Rise of the Runelords AP once I get started (waiting until my paper copy of vol. 2) Its basically intended to get our group to celebrate our D&D game online in some fashion. My brother and I have always had some sort of incentive for deeper levels of play. He uses a "Heroes Mark" in his current Savage Tide AP that he runs, where players can choose to increase the difficulty of key battles or challenges in the game to attempt to get a neat special ability, usually less useful than a feat and always at random. Originally I found the following ideas in a Silver Age Sentinels book and I wanted to adapt them to the players in my game by allowing for various levels of creativity. My idea involves the players earning their points in the following ways (this is the sheet I will give to them, unless someone has a suggestion):
--------------------------------------------------
Player Rewards Points:

The purpose of this system is to allow the players to earn extra rewards for being involved
on multiple levels of game play, allowing us to create a true multimedia experience where
we can all have memorable sessions and express our creativity in our own unique ways. As
always, I am open to suggestion on any material here, but please be aware that I am very
much set on this concept as a whole.

For each session in which a player is in attendance and has performed their given task,
they will earn a PRP at the discretion of the DM (noted in the minutes). One will be issued
as a maximum per session. Rewards may be purchased at any given "Level-Up" after level 5 (CL).
These are several of the following ways in which they may be earned:

*Journal Entry (In character or narrative)
*Minutes Logging (out of character concerns)
*Webpage Updating (Myspace/Google Group, etc.)
**Written Backstory (I'm not picky, but put some time into it)
Photography (Players, miniatures, funny stuff that is appropriate)
Audio Design (In game battle music, town music, creation of a music CD)
Character Development (Artistic creations; aka Char. Bios, Pictures, or applicable media)
Buying Snacks for the group (should not be one person's permanent task, possibly rotating)

Players are to decide amongst themselves how these positions will be divided up.
Those with a * are designated as mandatory each session. The back story (**) is mandatory for
every player and will earn them their first point of the campaign. Any of these may be rotated
if the players desire / are unavailable / feel the need for a break / would like to try them.
Any changes should be noted in the minutes where able. If someone comes up with another idea
that they would like to use, I am open to suggestion.

The Rewards will be determined by level 6. The delay is mainly because I wish to get to
know each character's style, powers, weaknesses, and flavor. The Character development will
aid in this as well.

The journal can be written in any style desired but should keep the feel of the campaign in
mind, allowing for good dialogue and character activities. This should be for posterity. This is
nothing new for most of you and I encourage this position to be swapped frequently.

The Minutes will be logged by the Secretary who will mark important rules questions,
experience totals, action point usage, important in-game information when pertinent, attendance, PRPs
earned, and any information deemed important. This can also include the funny out of game comments
that are frequently made by all. The minutes should be read at the beginning of any session.

The Webpage Updating may typically be the most time consuming element, but the most redeeming.
The site should include character info such as a back-story, journal entries (preferably in blog
format), Character/Player photos or imagery, pertinent art, and allow for players to communicate
their ingame/outgame concerns or ideas in an orderly, written fashion. A Login name and password
should be created and then distributed to all players in case of a swap or minor corrections. In
the case of Myspace or similar service, the DM, followed by the players, should occupy the top
friends positions ;). In addition, players are welcome to create "Character Accounts" to log in with
or to post comments on events as they are updated.

Photography is intended to fill a creative and detailed account of the visual events of any
given evening. All photos should be stored in a digital format and given to the current webpage
updater else uploaded to the site manually, arranged as you see fit. These should show our friends
and contacts who we are and what we enjoy doing. This can also be incorporated into Player Bios on
the website additionally.

Audio Design is taking a note from my brother's recent campaign work. As a multimedia campaign, I
would like to have evocative music playing at key points. Whether this is done through an iPod with
a speaker, brought in on flash drives or any other media is unimportant. Players should feel that
the music is deepening the vibe of the session where able. I understand that, as a player, you
cannot predict the action, but with a versatile array of music at your disposal, your task is to
find an appropriate song for the moment. Use of my personal computer or CD players is completely
allowed and will place you at the computer for most gaming sessions. The final task of this position
is to design and produce a Campaign Soundtrack. The level of detail is at the player's discretion, but
sound quality is important and the music should have an important connection to the individual parts
of the campaign. You may seek help from anyone you wish. Notes on this topic can be registered with
the Secretary.

Character Development is the most wide open of the rewards, but will require a lot of effort
creatively. A portrait of a PC/NPC, battle, landscape or the like are all acceptable as well as
sculpture (photographed for the website) or an alternative medium of your choosing. Surprise us,
I'm sure we'll all enjoy it. The one important rule is: IT MUST BE YOUR OWN WORK! Outside sources
who have interest are certainly allowed to display their work, but it should be labeled as so on
the website.

The snack purchasing is mainly to help when someone doesn't feel up to their assigned task for
a session or whom has not had time otherwise in their schedule outside of the session. I understand
that we are all working adults who have other, more lucrative ways to spend our free time. Thus, those
with lucrative means can afford to order a pizza or run out for subs every once and a while. This
is also my least favorite idea on the list and as such, I do not wish to see it abused.

Once the campaign has begun and this system is underway, I will develop a system of rewards based on a
rigid set of guidelines, akin to picking feats, but more personal and more or less potent, depending, but thematically interesting. Higher level
abilities will require more points than the lower ones. I do want your opinions on what you would like
to see on the list, and those requests will be logged either on the website or in the minutes.
-------------------------------------------------

Forgive the lengthiness, I wanted to be thorough. The journal is an idea I had been using for years and it typically came with an XP bonus, but I found that a bit impersonal as time went on. At any rate, comments would be appreciated! Thx!
