I have been using a homebrewed mix of D20future/modern/PFmodern and original pathfinder tech and races in one entire game.
I need an actual system for this. Any ideas? The requirements are:
Must be completely sourced online, without any downloads.
must be modern or near future
must have some fantasty/scifi elements
Help and advice is needed.
Personally, I can't find a reason to build a character that is a bard, I have almost no experience with music and suffer from extreme shyness at the gaming table. I don't see anything that screams out to me about them being awesome aside from the massive sonic damage they can do. Even then, I would rather wait and build a skald, also when are we getting an archetype that is exclusive to dwarves for skalds? I want a wisdom based skald sooo badly.
The general premise of the character is that he merely doesn't know much about how he has these powers, hes had them since he was a small child. He signed up for the society because they seemed like great guys and would be able to help him find out about things. He was not expecting to actually be forced into a life and death situation on a daily basis, he was not expecting people wanting to kill him every second of the day. He certainly wasn't planning on actually having to explore horribly dangerous places.
I need some help with the patron and familiar, I have the core rule book and the advanced players guide
I need to add mechas to my setting, however, I cannot find a thing on them, its a modern version of pathfinder with the tech guide added in, Mostly because I took one look at shadowrun and had to prevent myself from putting a hole in the nearest object out of sheer annoyance.
Today I spent searching, pretty much everywere for pathfinder books, not a single store had them. I live in rhode island, its not too big of a place so I figured I could easily find some, right? Dead wrong, I didn't find a single one, I searched pretty much all of the local gaming stores, I found nothing but a copy of blood for blood. I ended up finding out game on! is now stocking pathfinder books, but only the core rulebook. This is just plain dumb, why are these books so hard to find? Why aren't they more widely sold? Why is paizo being so stingy with distributing these? Im sure they like making a profit, but why limit the supply so much? Its near impossible for me to get these books unless off the internet! I just feel that I can't enjoy pathfinder as much, forget reccomending it to people.
Its a fun game, I love it and everything, but the major issues I have with it are:
2. Lack of storage
4. Sheer complexity.
Those are simply my reasons why I haven't played it or posted anything about it in ages. I simply cannot keep up with this game as a fifteen year old gamer. I love the game to death, just money is one thing I am always concerned about. With these new class decks being so nebulos I can't decide between them and the last two runelord decks. Sorry if this seems like whining, just my opinion.
Well, as the book has been released.... I have one question: When is it going to be added to the PRD? I cannot afford it, I have stopped showing up at PFS meetings and generally stopped appearing here for many reasons.. I still have been checking the site, just not really interacting with anyone... My main question is simply when can we have the classes from the advanced class guide added to the PRD? I have no interest in buying the book really, I just want to read
Last night was my first pathfinder meeting. Let me just say this, It was a g#$&%*n blast! David is an amazing GM and was very cool with my slightly disruptive behavior (I was too exicted to control myself, sorry greg and micheal!) The adventure was basic but amazing, I throughly enjoyed smashing a minotaur in the buttocks with a hammer. I also threw creamed corn at the dude who gives you your first mission! Lots of fun. Everyone was nice and we all had fun.
I am a permenant member of the society. I loved the meeting. Just next time, I am bringing a caster. But grol seems to work fine
I asked him what we could do to change this issue. His answer was to have me stop playing the healer. This is kinda bad. I want to play kyra, but I want him to keep playing because hes going to quit if it doesn't challenge him, I offered him a new char like seoni or harsk. But he refuses to play any of them.
I really like milini. (Haven't slept out of coffee D:). She fits all of my choices for a PC to a T every last thing I want out of a god. However that may just be due to one thing: when I first start playing ANY game. I go for support classes. Meaning if my cleric is allowed, all he would do is stand at the very back and rush about healing and buffing. But never raise a finger in a fight. Thus balancing him out because I can just stand at the back and cast healing spells and buffs and let the people with much larger muscles hit the scary monsters. He would rather have a rational discussion with a monster that wants nothing but his face torn off. He is not above tossing himself in harms way for his allies.
First thing I wanted to say: Sorry for derailling the players leaving early thread! I am so sorry. I figured I would play along because eric was a venture captian.
My thoughts on joining the society are mostly positive. The only negative ones I have are just me not having the books and sheets sitting in my hands. That OFTEN provides me with something to work with when trying to understand it. I was afraid that the people outside of the adventure card game would be completely diffrent and very hostile to newcomers. However EVERYONE here has been respectful, rational, welcoming and a joy to talk to. I am very happy with the first meeting I am attending in march. Though I sadly will have to leave at nine or eight o'clock Because it is across town and on a school night. However I am just barely starting. So when I leave it would most likley be much more of a benifit than a detriment because Most people would be higher leveled than me. Though that is yet to be seen. I am going to pick up the base box in september. Though getting rise of the runelords will be up in the air plane because with it being out of print and all.
Oh and I haven't made a PC yet. That is because I would rather wait to see what my table needs.
The threads were so cluttered and I just couldn't find any place that seemed suitable for this. Anyways can you participate in the society if you do not own the game (I am so sorry if this sounds laughably stupid) I kinda was hoping on just attending and watching to help me decide on buying the box. Plus if all else fails I could always just join an already going party. Apologiges in advance if I sound like a complete and utter idiot D: im so sorry I just am confused
Valereos is a noob char in my opinion. Hes rather one sided and not that interesting to play. Pretty much you can win by spamming weapons and blessings untill whatever you are up against has been killed to death and then some. Don't get me wrong hes extremely enjoyable to play for beginners and has balanced stats, BUT he has a flaw of being just meh.
These are just some things I have noticed and are slightly bothersome but not gigantic or game breaking in any way
mershiel: mershiel can evade whatever she wants whenever she wants thus allowing quick clears of many areas as long as she has enough blessings making her a must for any team
weapons and spells: if your starting hand does not have either a weapon or a spell you are screwed thus we have a house rule of if you do not have a weapon or a spell you have to mulligan because of how much of a keystone they are
healing in general: if your team does not have a dedicated healer you might as well quit on perils of the lost coast as there is NO way in all hell that you will make it anywere
theives tools/chime of unlocking/masterwork tools: these pretty much allow you to get past every barrier in existance and are rather common to find
remove from game: there is no place to put the cards when banished thus we have to use a chart and that takes forever
anyone have cures for this
what are the restrictions to moving because right now we either choose to move and end our turn or we don't move at all so we sometimes explore then move and by immediately closing does that mean we are able to skip the check or do we still have to because the game is disturbingly easy (we are almost done with hook mountain) i really want this game to be a bit harder than it is D: its just too easy fun but way way way too easy i think its mershiels fault dex +4 and a crossbow is really strong
He recently was forced to switch from harsk to ezren due to us having mershiel replace our valereos and leaving us missing a spellcaster. (besides harsk is just a crappier mershiel most of the time) He was great about the switch and likes the deck but he does not know why ezren has a weapon if he just has a D4 for strength it just seems unreasonable since he would rarely if ever need a weapon due to spells. Though i could see him having armor instead or one blessing. since blessings are rather good
For some unexplainable reason,Instead of going in order of the RPG the devs. have skipped quite a few and jumped on S&S instead.
whats bugging me is why shattered star was never the first one instead of ROTRL since it seems to fit a more classical RPG standpoint and seems so much more fun with dragons and treasure and lost artefacts! As vic and mike have already proven, they threw continutity out the window for this series and i would of rather had dragons and the shattered star over goblins and girls with parental problems. But, thats just me oh and if you guys do make a verison of shattered star give us a real life actual diecast/plastic model of its seven pieces
i have a friend coming over at one in the afternoon saturday and hes played a game of ROTRL with me and another friend named joe his name is david
normally he plays valeros but we already have amiri and kyra using weaponry so i told him he may want to be mershiel or a spellcaster instead to spread the load out a bit was i right or wrong there
plus the printed sheets glitched up on me and are a garbled mess :/
oh and vic why the hell is the preorder for the skulls and shackles two pack sold out and nearly three times the price of the original one O_O i mean i know your adding in the first expansion but still! its really expensive and i am subbing soon but i dunno if ill buy S&S due to the price :/ i only found rise of the runelords by luck and good eyesight since i grabbed it at chapters indigo for 8.00$ american (on sale plus a buttload of gift cards) so unless i manage to do a bunch of schoolwork and make my grandparents proud i will sadly have to skip on skulls and shackles
(note: i normally avoid punctiation on most things unless they are rather long)
my school plays this every tuesday and i play it at home as well causing me to have to reset the game back to default every time
second question: what charecter is the BEST for beginners
i play as seoni but no one on the limited group i have at school likes playing as seelah lini kyra or lem this causes slight issues at home its lem valeros and seoni
third question: why are some cards paler on the back than others
just somthing i saw on a few cards
fourth question: is there a way to set the game up faster
this is major as we waste time setting up decks and shuffling and making sure that everything is correct meaning our hour or so of limited time at school is chopped in half if we get lucky
