ok thanks to all that responded, I really appreciate it.

Ok thanks for letting me know, What should I do about the difference of 2 out of 9 online for my Scenario count

ok, so its not worth it to retrain my character. I have shadow lodge stuff and some other things.

#5-08 the confirmation
#3-18 the gods market gamble
#4-09 the Blakros matrimony
#2-21 the Dalsine Affair
#4-19 the night march of Kalkamedes
#5-11 Library of the Lion
#4-2 Rivalrys end
#4-11 The disappeared
#4-01 Rise of the goblin guild

I was a freebooter ranger 2/ Cameleon rogue 1

So I have not been very active on the society scene for awhile.
I have 9 chronicle sheets with 1xp on them does that mean that I am lvl 3 or lvl 4?
the sheets are from 2013 does that make a difference?
I would like to retrain myself to a Cavalier how would I go about doing that? I do have the UCamp book but the rules have days rules on it and its complicated?

UMD if focused on at lower levels is extremely powerful not all characters are based upon damage.
yea the need to do damage at the expense of everything else is simply not true, speaking to people can allow you to walk through many encounters without even drawing a weapon. bluff diplomacy and intimidate are all charisma based skills that a fighter could have access to at lvl 1 with the cosmopolitan feat. there are builds out there that have use for non damage based skills/feats linguistics and UMD can be used to great effect with traits and abilities.

Put in perspective lvl1 half elf- any class
skill focus UMD +3, Magical aptitude +2, 1 rank, class skill +3, charisma or Int +3, dangerously curious +1= +13 at lvl 1 without the min/max build so a +7 or more on the wand or 8+ for a lvl1 spell scroll.

think outside of combat as the game does not always require it. and the ability of a fighter to use some of his feats for not combat abilities it is ok not everyone plays the cookie cutter run and chop things to death over and over again build.

it's not a good archetype, it has way too many holes in it for a simple get some style feats for a couple rounds, and then be worthless.

reading the rules for battle herald class only scales with bards not with brawler exemplars. just pointing that out RAW you get less out of it, I might be wrong but read it.

Why a rogue you can get DD from traits if that's what you are after including dungeon delver ranger allowing you to use a cure light wand. medium armor, +1 bab, 6+ skills and a +4 bonus to linguistics which people overlook with characters. and prefered enemy human or something will balance you out.

I find that characters with little HP simply get swatted at and fall down, sword saint samurai is another version of sneak attack and feat progression in line with fighters for your chosen weapon I am sure the katana or Wakiz if you wanna go the dex route.

those character builders are really cool for npc building but not good for player characters starting at lvl 1. you are not lvl 11 yet all that means nothing.

well for one thing a 7 charisma makes any type of social test you have to make literally impossible.

kukri is good for the weapons. sawtooth sabres are also good for the significantly more damage with the same range 18-20 x2. now you will need a feat for that.

why a tiefling for the flavor of it or your choice there are other races that I find better for this type of character.

Tengu is one, it will give you access to most of the sword like weapons you would want like sawtooths, wakizashi. and another thing is dex is prefered for feats requirements.

the ranger class feats won't need the dex 15 required for 2 weapon fighting but if you take anything out of the tree you will need it as a prereq.

I would suggest weapon focus whatever you decide.
2w fighting- ranger feat
double slice- 3rd lvl with 15+ dex req.
2w defence- 5th lvl with 15+ dex req.
improved 2w fighting- 6th ranger feat
2w rend- 10th lvl ranger feat

Beneficial Bandolier isn't PFS legal, unfortunately. Rapid Reload would make it a Move action to reload all 3 shots though

thanks for the update, yea I didn't see that.

yea its a 3 shot pistol with a little bit longer range that can keep me out of range from the 30ft range charge of there is something in front of me I don't have to be so front line but can step in to protect a squishy caster.

What's your take on beneficial bandolier (UE) and reloading it. would it still work or no. since its not those specific types of ammo stated on the description.

@jack Brown I don't have quick clear till 3rd level. So I would wait anyways so the gun does not blow up in my face.

thanks for the update and the information.

I am looking to make a picaroon SB as my next PFS character. I was wondering if I could take the Dragoon pistol in PFS I have looked through the new updated data for the society and have not found the villain codex on there. Is there a ruling that I will need for my game on sunday.

I know that I need Gunsmithing feat to use it and that I can't purchase a gun until I have it. I will also have to wait till 3rd level probably for fame to purchase an item of that cost also so that my weapon does not explode in my face.

My goal was to get some UMD +10 at first level and Dark archive faction. I got the pin for the 1D4.

thank you for your responses. I know that the character is not optimized but it's what I would like to play.

the ability only works with black jackets so if your whole party takes the archetype its cool. not everyone needs to be 4th lvl just one person does.

blackjacket 1/ alchemist 4
Blackjacket 5
blackjacket 1/ musket master
blackjacket 1/ cleric 4
Blackjacket 1/wizard 4

thats your party but everyone needs to be a blackjacket to really make that fighter work. jsut have everyone dip a class and the teamwork feats will be much easier to work with. so thats 5 free teamwork feats that most of them can achieve. only a member has to have the teamwork feat just the lvl 4 is the one that uses the ability. and to be honest 30ft is a big space just make it so that your within 30ft.

and feats wise no but taking an extra discovery feat can increase your bomb damage as long as you get 2 lvls in alchemist before taking the feat.

I am a huge proponent of taking a lvl in fighter with almost any class for the Hit dice/BAB/weapon/armor prof.

I read the spell and I'm not sure you can put multiple wands within the single weapon it says a single wand.
now putting the wand into the weapon like a pistol make sure that you can fix the pistol or quick clear it because you break/destroy the wand as well.
the rules for permanent spells are in the core book and the requirements there. in the SRD they have some other spells but you need GM approval and the required amount of diamond dust is needed plus a caster that can cast 5th lvl spells. to be honest by the time you need this you will be carrying around a handy haversack full of wands and it wont matter to you about what wands you need or anything else because your going to be min 10th lvl anything.
it's a cool idea I'm all about non meta builds and ideas but this one seems like a waste of much needed gold for your character that needs every bit of it.

the problem is using the sword if you are going to use the sword you need the profic to wield that weapon and you get none with your base class.

scimitar- into dervish dance feat tree.
rapier- into rapier damage dex feat tree from UI.
sword cane- into weapon finesse. gives you some style as a non drawn weapon.
wakizashi- requires a feat or class dip good crit, deadly
good crits and dealing d6 damage with all 4

those are all good 1h weapons that can be paired with a dex modified caster. since strength is normally a dump stat.

now is your going to feat spend then- str based
katana- good crit, d8 damage- exotic weapon, looks cool.
nodachi- good crit, d10 damage, brace which comes in handy when your a wizard getting charged. 2H sword.

I would also look at how your character wishes to be portrayed. the Katana has an eastern feel. dipping 1 level into iajatsu samurai gives you the proficiency. the reason why people are saying class builds is simply because the wizaed class does not have the required skills to wield the sword it is not the best weapon if you take a -4 penalty every time you wield it.

what about rogue 3,wizard transmuter 7, arcane trickster 10
that would be your 1-20 build

disable skills, lower bab yes but it still might be on par with your wizard. plus you could take 8 in wizard for the 3rd stat bump. and you could run the Mordiant spire he racial. and the new feat tree for rapier dex based damage and hit out of UI.

while not perfect it would give you in the end 17 caster lvls, weapon profs and a free combat feat in rogue talent at lvl 2.

while i don't see a point to not multi classing if you wanted to run full combat wizard transmute is probably your best bet for the statline bonus. and while not all wizards should and could fight on the front line arcane trickster gives you some free abilities that replicate spell slots.

@silvercat
Shadowrun might also be a better option than pathfinder as it blends cyberpunk melee, with gunslinger. allowing you to customize your character with magic, strength and melee skills can be a great benefit.

but yea many soft armor on the market for modern rounds stop 9mm cold at least if not in the same place and multiple times. there are rifle round plates for vests that are available now that will stop full size rifle rounds.

If you were dead set on using Pathfinder firearms there is a DR version of armor that would maybe sway to your liking for heavy armor targets and the guntank class feature might be what you are looking for with a %based fort. built into it.

just some food for thought on your quest.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

the issue with grey paladin is that you might as well be LG because commits an evil act is the whole reason not to be LG. the class mechanically is too much of a trade off for not really anything different than before.

It is like saying you can be a different alignment but still need to be lawful good, the greater good comes up and sure you can ignore it ow you can't because you willingly can't commit an evil act.

and yea Lawful good does not mean Lawful stupid but it might as well with that code of conduct.

you are better off being a cavalier or a samurai in my opinion. that on the other hand does not have the needed for Alignment.

could anyone tell me what Taldor affinity is I have the companion guide open and i cant find it. Is there another book I need to purchase or something.

please help.

I am looking for a rules clarification on the belt of giant strength it says that it is a temporary modifier for 24 hours. Does that mean that after 24 hours the item becomes a normal belt or that after 24 hours it becomes permanent ability increase as long as the belt is worn and takes 24 hours to attune itself. it would seem fairly pointless for the items cost to be useless after 24 hours unlike all the other magic items of its cost that do not degrade.

If the item does degrade itself after 24 hours do most DM's house rule the item does not degrade itself. I am asking as a DM myself that has about 5 sessions under my belt and started a campaign with level 5 PCs and magic items are abundant.

Plz. clarify what you think
