Hey James! A friend of mine had a question about Exemplar traits and the Additional Traits feat. Specifically, does Additional Traits allow you to take traits from your Exemplar trait's category?

This confusion is caused by the line in Additional Traits which states 'These traits must be chosen from different lists, and cannot be chosen from lists from which you have already selected a character trait'. This rule, given the fact it's taken after the Exemplar trait, seems to supersede the 'a character with an exemplar trait is no longer restricted to a single trait of that category and can select any number of such traits when gaining further traits'. I believe that, if Exemplar traits were meant to allow Additional Traits to take multiple traits from the same category, Exemplar traits would have specifically said so. But at the same time, it feels strange that that'd be the intention, so I thought I'd ask.

I'm having trouble wording this in a general format, so I'll ask about the feat specifically. Archon Style, in Planar Adventures, says you need Combat Expertise, Combat Reflexes, and a Base Attack Bonus of 2 or Monk level 1. If I play a Monk, do I still need Combat Reflexes and Combat Expertise?

Whoops, totally forgot I posted this until now. I like a lot of these ideas, and a few of you have been asking for more details on the character. Unfortunately, beyond the fact that I plan on the character being male, I don't have much on the character. I like to build a character based on the history of the character, not the other way around.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have an idea for a wizard character that never wanted to be an adventurer. He always found the peaceful city life more alluring. But something in his life caused him to have to resort to the adventurer's life. I just don't know what that something would be. Any ideas?

I'm playing a Chaotic Neutral High Drow (custom race I created. They left the underground to live on the surface. This did away with their Light Sensitivity, but they also lost some abilities that living underground gave them) Druid. I understand how to play good druids and evil druids, but I'm not so sure on the law/chaos axis. How would you recommend playing a chaotic druid?
