so the spell stacking & grapple calculations are correct?

Spoiler:

Many of the fights are inside. How are you using the huge form?

Ah he's squeezing alot, penalties are not that rough.. and most of the housing Large creatures walk (tons of ogres/giants at the moment).. so 10'or more wide. Not much wing based flying though.I can stop animal growth whenever its needed and go further large or medium. It's really swiss army knife style of play

wraithstrike wrote:
The animal domain allows him to choose an animal from the druid list, but at druid level-3. However boon companion gives you virtual druid levels for the purpose of improving your animal companion. He basically took the hit to his animal companion levels with the animal domain, and then erased the penalties with a feat.

At first he just choose the Roc, but got nerfed after creation.. now at higher levels its actually better, extra spells versus 1 feat.

An eagle shaman who chooses an animal companion must select a bird (eagle).

So you should have an eagle and not a roc.

2. Why do you have boon companion? You already have full druid levels so the feat does not take you past being a level 10 druid for the purpose of your animal companion.

3. I only glanced over it but the numbers appear to be ok..The buffs are what is killing the NPC's. Animal Growth is really good. I was able to grapple bosses in CoT with Tiger animal companion.

4. ** spoiler omitted **

1. Animal domain gets you to choose a companion, so i got to choose the Roc, cause i didnt like the 0'feet reach eagle.

2. Animal domains companions are -lvl, i took boon companion to get em up to date.

thx for your reply!

My roc has raised some eyebrows & questions last couple of games.
It rampaged through the monster opposition, especially when he takes hold of single bosses with grapple, they simply cannot get out. currently running Rise of the Runelords. In my opinion it's all in the buffs.. if i get time to boost him up he's becomes godzilla.

To double check im posting it here,
to make sure I'm not stacking stuff that I can't.

THX in advance for your watchfull eye & comments.

Aah think when it happened in one of my games people could just choose connected squares..

since there's no "facing" in pathfinder anyway. so front.. could be back etc etc....but that would give a ruling that if your start with 2 friends on opposite sides.. they'd have to end on opposite sides as well i gues.

edit:
Reason why im so interested in this setting is because ive encountered it before, as player and GM.

First this was only used as a getaway, resulting in hilarious effort of players exclaiming to join the wizard in his travel and then scrambling over each other to find the invisible wizard. All good fun.

Then it changed from a defensive role to the offense. And became absolute murder. Distance was no longer a defense against full round attacks. The instant positioning and flank was just too much for most NPC's.

The GM ruled after a time that; the taxi would cost a movement action for the passengers. Resulting in a stream of objections from players that soon disappeared after the GM explained it could also be used against them.

aah k , and what about choosing squares for the lugage?

just wondering if this maneuver would cost the allies an action?
and where would everybody end up after the steps?

how would something like this play out?

example:

3 people are battling a necromancer, a fighter, thief and you (the wizard)
The necromancer attempts to slip away, and the party cant get passed his skeletons quick anough.

The fighter and thief stand next to each other hacking away at the skeletons, and decide to delay their action till the mext turn of the wizard.

The wizards turn has arrived and leaves his position of safety, walks up to the fighter and thief from the rear. Grabs each of his friends by the shoulder and says "here we go!"

His destination is located right next to the necromancer on a square to the North East. The fighter chooses a square connected to the wizards.. and picks North. The thief ends up East.

The thief declares he'll act first and takes a 5 foot step to the square south of the necromancer, flanking him with the fighter's aid. Next the thief makes his full attack leaving the necromancer bleeding hard.

The fighter takes his turn next and decapitates the distracted necromancer.

-choosing squares?
-thief & fighter dont loose an action?

quote prometheus's_curse; "So does the text also imply that the negative modifications of a larger size are already in effect"

No.

Tip: Best is to build your wildshaped druid sheet from scratch and
dont go substracting / adding numbers on your humanoid druid sheet.
i.e. flip over your A4 and tada; there's the stats for your wildshaped druid.

*************************************************

here's a case where a druid gets to pick a feat from the bestiary:

At 9th level and every 4 levels thereafter, an eagle shaman gains one of the following bonus feats: Flyby Attack, Improved Lightning Reflexes, Lightning Reflexes, Skill Focus (Perception), or Wind Stance.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid -archetypes/eagle-shaman

So a druid seemingly qualifies and takes fly by attack from the bestiary.

Still grey area's here, example; would the druid be able to use fly by attack when not wildshaped, but able to fly per spell 3e: Fly.

Another example for qualifying for something you're not 24/7 is the skill fly. You just have to be able to fly now and then on a daily basis.

GM talk for sure, but i gues none would object to taking 1 or 2.

thx for all the replies, much appreciated!

So im assuming i can stick with the NAB starting 3 + advancement +5 =8.

Odea wrote:
The answer is: the level 7 stat changes stick around.

right, thx for that.

Aah and thx for the reduce animal tip, i think im sure ill give that a go.

Trouble is atm is my char sheets... this companion is beginning to take up 4 pages..... large, large & buffed, medium & buffed, huge & buffed.

About the large/huge roc in the dungeon crawl, he probably has a wingspan of about 30-40 feet wide.
Q6 Are there any rules concerning flying in crowded spaces?

So im guessing the beastshape III (animal only) isnt that handy after all.
Q7 How would it be best to go about with this spell? use it for the occasional escape/utility since the druid is eagle shaman with limited wildshape options?

the buff spell: Animal aspect (d) gorilla states:
your arms become long flexible and strong like those of an ape.

Q8 Could this have effect on a roc since he got no arms in the first place? he got beak/talons/wings, and no upper arms like a primate.

Domain Spells: 4th—summon nature's ally IV (animals only)
Hmm my eagle shaman was summoning giant eagles with that spell.
Q9 Does the same go for this as like the Aurumvorax? giant eagle (by alt class added to the summon list) is a magical beast.. so cant summon those with that spell?

going abit off topic.. but nonetheless interesting for me, base AC for the roc:

Quote:
Large Animal Companion Roc has an NAB of 3. By level nine, that's improved by 6, so 3 + 6.

Ah i think i calced it:
starting statistics: ac +5 natural armor
7th level advancement: +3 natural armor
9th level: +6
so what ever i calced hereon.. i let my roc start out with 5+3+6=14 nat ac

so im asuming this is wrong, and the large rock's natural armor deteriated from 5 to 3? and thus: 3+6=9?

aah so for *large -> Small* that would be:
+2 at +2ac -2 cmb -2 cmd +4 fly

but this would also mean that a roc would loose?:
7th level adv: size large: str+8 dex -2 con +4

Aah thx for the reply:
Domain Spells: 1st—calm animals, 2nd—hold animal, 3rd—dominate animal, 4th—summon nature's ally IV (animals only), 5th—beast shape III (animals only)

SO magicbeast aint an animal so a nogo there? thx
Would you know what happens to size stuff?

Buff spells: catsgrace, bearsendurance, bullstrength, strongjaw, atavism, beastshapeIII, barkskin, resinousskin, greatermagicfang

currently looking at:
BASE BUFF
1x bite primary d6 2d6
4x claw primary (GRAB) d4 d8

str 23 31
dex 24 32
con 14 22
int 3 7
wis 13 17
cha 11 15

dmg +6 +11
at (+6bab+6str+1s) +13 +18

CMBi (+6b+6str-1size+4G) 15 21
CMBm (+5) 20 26

CMD (10+6b+7d+6s-1s) 28 36

AC (10+14*+4n+7d+1s) 36 44
*14 = Druid 9 +6nat Roc start +5nat Roc adv 7th +3nat

My large Roc doesnt fit well in the occasional dungeon crawl, so i came up with a plan. Im a lvl 9 druid and want to cast BeastShape III as spell on my companion using the "Share spells"(ex) feature.

Q1 That all ok?

My current choice is: small magical beast named Aurumvorax.

Q2 What would happen to the size bonus/corrections for this polymorph taking place? ie bonus alrdy earned from growing, and other things to consider like the standard at/ac/CMB/CMD numers?

Q3 My Roc has GRAB +4. Aurumvorax has GRAB +8. what would my roc use?

Q4 Would the spell Atavism still work? if it ever has on a companion?

Q5 How would all these natural armor bonus work out? do they all stack? cause looks like with barskin and atavism the roc nears +22 natural armor.. leading him to an ac of 40.

thx in advance

Be prepared, when he hits large; he can carry a rider. This may or may not open the possibility of eagle knights.

well a 4th lvl druid could carry a small friend. Think we're not too worried about that sorta thing. More about what influence new introduced large animals might have at level 6 in relation to size, fly speed, dmg and ac etc.

This build wasnt born out of powerplay; seeing the alternative class features. But was created after reading about the storval plateau.
A normal druid would probably be just as good if not better. (if you ignore level 6-7 for the large advantage)

Hi there, thx for all replies. I'm the player the DM (snow) is referring too.

KaeYoss wrote:

That's clearly not the intention. The "no template" rule is supposed to keep you from turning into a half-dragon fiendish dire bear or something equally silly. It's not supposed to keep you from turning into distinct species that are only templated so they could save some space in the books and should have their own stat block.

Thx alot, that makes good sense to me.

Allowing the simple templates makes for more options and hence more fun.
Would be kinda limiting (RP- & Hackslash-)playing with so few core animals as a druid anyway.
