I've run out of things to snark about. I see new stuff sometimes still, but it's either better than snarkworthy or it's snarkable in a way I've already snarked. So, for now I just vote.

Wow. Just saw an item very very similar to my alternate entry. I think mine would have been better, but still glad I didn't go with it. I did introduce it to my regular game with some interest from players.
Just taking a sword or a spear or what have you and tacking on lightning or fire or wind powers isn't very superstar. It may be a very desirable item to PCs, of course. Because sure, who wouldn't want a laser mace or a shuriken of explosions. Actually...an exploding shuriken would be cool. Has that been done yet? Like when batman misses with his batarang and the villain is all smug but then the reader/viewer notices the little red light right before the kaboom. Of course that leads me to wonder why he added the light. As a warning? To whom? His intended victim? Also there's that great scene in Avengers where it happens to Loki. It's always fun when bad things happen to Loki. Anyway...I'm kind of rambling here.
I think my biggest pet peeve is poor writing. This is a writing contest in more ways than one. Sure, you have to know your mechanics. Sure you have to have a good idea. Sure you have to follow the rules... But if you use clunky prose and common writing "don'ts" then you probably won't get far even if your item is amazing. My opinion, anyway.
Also, healing items that are more complicated than a potion seem kind of pointless when potions are so easy to make/buy/find.
Items that teleport you and your friends to safety when it gets too real or items that take away the concept of travel are boring. They go against the point of the game. Items that make it easier to manage your inventory of gold/spells/items/ etc. are boring for a different reason.
I like masks thematically, but they sure don't tend to go beyond the most obvious ability.

A lot of items that produce a concealing cloud of some sort. They tend to vary a lot mechanically and in theme, though. So they got that going for them.

What the? I admit that I don't know everything about Pathfinder but this item. It is specifically made by and made for a thing that I'm pretty sure doesn't fit in this setting.
There is an item in the list that has a name that makes me think it may be similar to mine. I haven't seen it yet. I've seen mine twice. That makes me worried that it has already been upvoted way above mine. Of course, it may be something entirely different from mine. Only time will tell...

I generally find magic weapons to be boring. Some of them are good, but most are just "Make my character more powerful." Most of the time if an item is "Sword of _________" I look over at the opposing item first.
I remember getting writer's guidelines for Dragon Magazine back in the early 90s (never got anything published, though). Back then it was standard to italicize spells and to this day it sticks with me as the proper way to do it.
If I had to guess I'd say that a lot of people missed the part about not straying from the PRD. Or maybe they thought their's was the exception. Or maybe they don't know that there is a difference between the PRD and the PFSRD.
Your back story should not take up 1/3 of your text. It should not exist at all, ideally.

How does one format? It must be really complicated since so many people got it wrong. There is a template provided- I think on the contest rules page but I forget where precisely. Just plug your information into it and it will bold where you need bold and have all the info you are supposed to fill in in the right places (such as weight, slot and crafting requirements). The fact that so many ignored this simple tool implies that they didn't read the rules and probably wouldn't be good communicators if they did receive a gig.
I'm getting enough repeats that I don't always have to read the items. I already know which I prefer.

Why are eye slot items usually so boring? I think a lot of them never go beyond obvious ideas like bonuses to vision or ability to see invisible creatures, etc. I'd love to be proven wrong on this one.
I've seen a couple items that attempt to introduce a popular new feature from another RPG.
Not a huge fan of items that simply produce an "alter self" or "disguise self" spell effect through some convoluted means.
Looking at the "Items Seen" list I notice what must be a joke item. I hope I come across it once before it gets culled.
Haha. I love when I get the same pair but switched right to left. I assume that means that they are relatively equal in voting and now need to be paired against one another more frequently to determine a winner.
