No character of mine has ever spent more than 20k gp on an item. So anything above that strikes me as merely theoretical, and thus is automatically less interesting.
Above about 50k gp my eyes glaze over. You might get my vote, but you will never get my heart.
For whatever that is worth.
Although I have actually spent 20k on a couple items, I have to agree with these sentiments.
Breaking the action economy? No, I don't think so.
I am sorry, but the IP infringement was honestly better.

Still seeing some items I haven't seen before after >1000 votes.
STOP describing yourselves as ordinary and mundane, but with secrethidden powers. A nicer visual might be enough to get you some upvotes instead of just being yet another blah item.

If your item is designed specifically to let one trick ponies ignore their hard counters, then you are most likely the lowest sort of low hanging fruit.

I'm not a fan of Profession(X) items.
Creating horribly overpriced items to emulate modern day tech, and then not even allowing the more beneficial uses for said items when items that are better already exist for far less.
However cool this item might be for the wearer, I just can't fathom why its creators would be willing to invent/create it.

It's nice to see too hats/helms with the right slot going head to head.
People have been reading way too much Wheel of Time. Way too much.
Items that teleport you and your friends to safety when it gets too real or items that take away the concept of travel are boring. They go against the point of the game.
Items that make it easier to manage your inventory of gold/spells/items/ etc. are boring for a different reason.
Also, healing items that are more complicated than a potion seem kind of pointless when potions are so easy to make/buy/find.
I see what you did there. I know I complain a lot about when an item's description contains history that goes on forever, but sneaking it's rich and varied backstory into the construction requirements doesn't make it any better.

Agreed, good traveling items are things that add to the experience of exploring the world, not take away from it or simplify it.
One of the items on my favorites so far is an item that encourages really getting into exploring and examining the world during travel. It encourages RPing, which is the hallmark of a great item in my opinion.
You get my vote because you allow non spellcasters to use one of my favorite spells.
And because your opponent made me feel icky.

I don't know which is worse:
The fact that you wrote a LITTERALLY a Spell-In-A-Can.
The fact that you wrote a joke item.
—Or—
That for some reason; I love the fact that you were so brash that you unabashedly did both no-no's.
Edits in italics.
Oops! I think you meant the opposite of what you wrote, otherwise-interesting item :/
edit: "creator of" otherwise-interesting item ...

If you write your item with a rich and varied back story (you generally shouldn't, but if you feel you must) take a step back and look at your construction requirements. Understand that this is you admitting how any schmuck with these feats and spells can make this item. If you want to talk about the person who had the idea first, that's one (still kinda bad) idea. But if you are saying in your item's back story that all of these items where made long ago by one person, and never since, then why bother entering anything besides "Be that one epic dude long, long ago in a kingdom far, far away" in the construction requirements. Then take a step back and realize you are talking about either an artifact or plot maguffin, not a wondrous item, and go back to the drawing board.
That said, I will promises that next RPGSS if someone enters a rich and varied back story about the great person who first made their item, only to later have their IP stolen by casters everywhere to make cheap knock offs, I will upvote your item every time.

The way you describe you item is exactly the way I feel about it. Luckily for you, the item you are faced with is something I am entirely against. You win this round.
flykiller wrote: OMG I had to google this and it's a real thing. I may have nightmares tonight :( Still, you get my arachnophobic vote this time, item. I know exactly what you're talking about. We had a story about it in the front page of our newspaper, so I was thrilled to see it referenced here.
Meanwhile, I think I have a major weakness for lantern items. I have yet to outright dislike one.
I feel as if there is still plenty of "voting to not vote" button pressing. I keep getting a lot of the same items circulating back to me that I have already voted on in the last hour...
For the record, I like seeing the names of Pluralized items on the voting buttons making the statement grammatically incorrect.
Example: "Weefy Bracers is better"
Forced to have to resist the temptation to downvote every item that has to do with dice...
"Random chance" item versus magitek.
Magitek costs 100,000 gp.
I'd say I'm gonna decide randomly, but no, I'm going with random chance.

{item power} can be activated the same as {existing Pathfinder rule}.

Huh. {existing Pathfinder rule} does not exist.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's awesome!
I'm know you stole the idea but,its a fantasy staple and the game didn't have it yet so good for you. But not only does that work that way, the way you explained it made it less effective? Still up vote!

"I'm tired of the GM hosing my invisibility! Wah! wah!"
AMAZING item in under 150 words and under 1,000 GP
BRAVO!!!
No, there's already a rule for when that happens to someone. You don't get to choose a different rule to make it harder for them.

This item is not Superstar, but it's a good, solid, needed item that I want in my game. It should have already been in there, really.

Woah there Brigg, the Praise thread is that-a-way.
I don't really understand you, but you're better than the alternative. Congratulations, you have my vote.
Just got a matched pair of 300 word items. Both have improper formatting and spacing, which takes them over 300 words. DOUBLE DQ! 54 sbumitted...
Directed at PF, rather than the item submission, due to a spell listed in the requirements:
Really? There's a spell that does _that_? Why would anyone ever do it the hard way, then?

Item... I have upvoted you once and downvoted you THREE times in the last 45 minutes. Why do you keep coming back to me T-T
Now if Harrowed medium were a still a thing, that item would be dumb with the Cricket as it's written. But other than using it for that extremely specific purpose that doesn't exist, it's a good item. Have a vote.
Edit: Come to think of it, the way that's written technically allows you to travel faster than the speed of light. Whee!

I better go get some lunch then. This is going to be a LONG day.
Huh, I only just noticed that interesting item that keeps turning up has 5 sp in its crafting price. Not many odd-numbered cost values like that.

I think my biggest pet peeve is poor writing. This is a writing contest in more ways than one. Sure, you have to know your mechanics. Sure you have to have a good idea. Sure you have to follow the rules...
But if you use clunky prose and common writing "don'ts" then you probably won't get far even if your item is amazing. My opinion, anyway.
I too have read wizard's first rule.
