THE CROSSING is a new, Dark Return setting adventure for 4-6 characters of 3rd to 4th level. Continue your characters' Return of the Fey adventure path with over one hundred pages of encounters, locales and terrifying monsters. Written by Shonn Everett and produced by the same team who have brought you so many great rulebooks, companion books and adventures over the last several years, THE CROSSING is Pathfinder Roleplaying Game compatible and will keep your party engaged in life or death struggles for session after session!

About the Adventure:

Merchant vessels have been disappearing on the river west of Ferryport. There are rumors of a river pirate, but when the adventurers investigate they will find far more behind the disappearances than the Guildmasters of Ferryport could ever have imagined. Deep within the Miragol Swamps, in a place of great power, lies a long forgotten tower where ancient secrets are being unearthed by a treacherous former lord of Ferryport. Under his command are foul creatures remembered only in ancient legends and folktales. Will the heroes uncover his plot in time to save the region from war?

Hey everyone,

I am currently Kickstarting the second adventure in my world - The Dead Gulch Adventure - Kickstarter

Along with the adventure comes our magic system variant. It is a mana based system, which tweak the classes, spells, and abilities of spellcasters.

What I have a question about is the class system. We are having a hard time in house deciding what to do about magic classes in a low magic world without having a very limited mage class.

The basics:

- There are no divine or arcane spells, all spells are available to each spellcasting class.
- We have two Mage classes - Wylder (untrained magic user) and a Luminar (trained).
- Old magic classes are turned into skill sets and abilities based on those who trained you.
- We are set up as a E8 system, so leveling up to 8, then just hitpoints beyond that. So you have limited level progression.

Most spellcasters start out as Wylders, though some who are found early can be a Luminar from level 1.

Since magic is rare (it is just reemerging), we thought that when you start to train as a Luminar, you get access to more spells, but none of your class abilities until you hit level four as a Luminar.

Example - Magic User who studies under the Church

Devout Luminari:
A luminar who studies within the church receives the following class abilities immediately at 4th level: Religious Relic and Channel Energy 2d6 (Su). Religious Relic works the same as Arcane Bond, but is an object given by the church to the luminar. This object is a relic of the church, and is as important to the luminar as their spellbook.

A Devout Luminar uses his religious relic as his focus for channeling energy. Upon reaching 5th level, Channel Energy improves to 3d6, and at 6th level improves to 4d6. The relic must be held and lifted to the sky in order to channel energy.

At 6th level, a Devout Luminar gains the ability Heightened Healing. This grants a bonus to all cure spells to heal an additional amount of damage equal to the Mana cost of the spell.

So our debate is if waiting until fourth level is too long to receive “class” bonuses? I am really torn myself. On one hand, it makes being a magic user feel a little more difficult, which it is in Uteria. When you become a Master of your path, you get the extra bonuses. The class abilities are bonuses really, your real power is your spells right?

My other thought is that the other classes, fighter for example, have all of their special abilities from the start.

I do like holding off on special skills because it makes it feel like a low magic world, but do you guys think it is too under powering?

Thanks,
Mike

Plagues have ravaged the lands for generations. While the city of Ferryport has been spared the worst, it has still seen its share of death and pestilence. During the worst outbreaks, corpses lined the streets and the people had to find a place to dispose of the bodies. North of the city, they walled up the sewers and filled them like catacombs with the charred bones of the dead. In the southern parts of the city, they dumped corpses by the thousands into the canyon which split the land between South Hollow and Lyncast. This became known as the Dead Gulch.

The adventurers are hired by Tain Northbow, a druid and advisor to Silas Monta, one of the most powerful men in Ferryport. A man of his power and influence has many friends and many enemies. One of Silas’ longtime adversaries among the Guildmasters is Lord Resly. After the treason of Lord Glycyn, former ruler of Ferryport, Resly opposed all motions to move toward a democratic government. Resly believed the city needed a single strong ruler, supported by the Guildmasters, who would become minor lords of the city.

Now, Resly has been missing for over two weeks. The City Guard have investigated and found no trace of Resly, save a rumored visit to a traveling circus. His house sits abandoned and watched over by the Guard. Rumors have started to circulate that Silas may have eliminated his biggest opponent. To clear his name, Silas has hired you to look into the disappearance and report back with anything you find.

Explore the strange and mysterious Todaren Family Circus. Look for clues to explain Resly’s disappearance. Explore the cemetery during the unnatural storms that have been increasing in severity. And continue to forge your own legacy within the chronicles of Ferryport.

The Dead Gulch is a Pathfinder Roleplaying Game-compatible role playing adventure designed for 4 to 6 characters of 2nd level. This adventure is part 2 of the Ferryport Adventures: Return of the Fey adventure path, set in the dark world of Uteria.

Back us on Kickstarter!

Lone Wanderer Entertainment announces the launch of the Kickstarter for the book, The Ferryport Adventures.

Written by Michael Bielaczyc and Dane Clark Collins, the Ferryport Adventures is one part adventure, one part city guide based in the original World of Uteria

Artists in the book include: Lindsay Archer, AL Ashbaugh, Michael Bielaczyc, Paul Bielaczyc, Sam Flegal, and Melissa Gay.

What is in the book?

The Ferryport Adventures will include two different books under one cover:

The first is the Guide the Ferryport.

The city of Ferryport, a crossroads city, is a great base for adventures in Uteria. It was not as ravaged by the Great War or plagues as many places. It is a central trade hub for the Endamas region, so many people and cultures are present within its walls.

Today, magic is returning, bring both the splendor and horror that comes with it. Ferryport sees a new dawn in its future, but a sinister force lingers in the dark corners of the city

The Guide to Ferryport will be a journey through the streets of Ferryport, as seen through the eyes of Toryn, a traveling bard who has returned to his hometown to report on its places and people. It will cover the interesting personalities of Ferryport, as well as its most well-known locales. Maps will be included for many locations.

The Goblins of Kaelnor Forest - Adventure

This first level adventure will take the adventurers into the Kaelnor Forest. While the eastern side of the forest has long been the home of the forest elves, the western side is infested with goblins, boggarts, spiders, and more.

The adventure will take players through the forest investigating a rumor of raiding creatures. They will begin in South Hollow, a farming community south of Ferryport proper, and will travel deep within the dark, enchanted woods.

Are there supernatural creatures in the woods taking the farmers' stores? Will they survive the strange fey forest?

The adventure will come with 5 premade Uteria player characters, so you can jump right into the story.

About the World of Uteria

The world of Uteria has lived in darkness for years beyond count. It has been ravaged by plagues for hundreds of years. An ancient war ravaged the land with dark magics. For a long time, the humans have trudged along, afraid of the myths and legends left over from the past.

The old kingdoms have crumbled, leaving behind city states and large tracks of unclaimed lands. In the East the land is harsh and twisted, the remnants of the dark sorcery that had been used in the Aradan War have left the lands almost uninhabitable, save for small pockets of civilization. In the west, in the wake of the plagues, people had become isolated and exclusive. Fear has driven people to be wary of anyone or anything new. Their superstitions have lead to witch hunts and lynching of those believed to use magic. People have become so downtrodden that even their belief in higher powers has fallen to little more than lip service.

But all of that has begun to change in the last 20 years. Children are showing the ability to use magic. Real magic. The elves have started to come out of their forests and having limited interactions with others. The dwarves have begun to trade again, traveling the roads plying their mechanical and trade works. And whispers of dark powers, heroes, and a new dawn have begun to creep into this rain soaked and gray world.

Thanks so much!

The World of Uteria

Press Release:

Lone Wanderer Entertainment, in association with Aradani Studios, Inc, announces the launch of the Kickstarter for the book, The Elves of Uteria.

Written by Michael Bielaczyc and Dane Clark Collins, the Elves of Uteria is a sourcebook featuring a new look at elven cultures, based in the original World of Uteria.

Artists in the book include: Adam Baker, Michael Bielaczyc, Paul Bielaczyc, Larry Elmore, Sarah Frary, Melissa Gay, and Aaron B Miller

What is in the book?

The Elves of Uteria is a story heavy source book featuring an original re-imagining of fantasy elves. The book will be at least 100 pages with plenty of art, fiction and gaming material.

Dane and I were always in love with RPGs with a strong story. When we first started planning to launch our own books, we decided early on that story would come first, and the rules would work around the stories.

The Elves of Uteria is told through the eyes of Jarin Plainswalker, as Druid from the Western Council who was tasked with re-establishing contact with the elves of the world. The five different cultures of the elves are explored, as well as the elflings, who are the fey cousins of the elves.

Jarin keeps records of the places he goes, so the book will include maps of Uteria, the towns and pathways he uses, and the creatures he encounters.
