![]() Hi all. so, my players decided after some minor scouting and successful Charming of one of the Guards manning the (B1) Shopfront to just walz in and
be direct.:
They'd go in and announce that they'd come to arrest Verik on grounds of being a desserter expect that to go well. Now, I have a bit of an idea how I will play most of this, with the poor citiziens getting rather unhappy as they like getting the free meat and stuff.
But what I'm unsure about is, what will the Charmed Guard do? Because:
He's now "friends" with the Bard who charmed him and see his actions in the most favorable way, while at the same time having no desire to let go of this potentially lucrative business here. I'm almost seeing him as standing around wringing his hands (not literally) caught between to opposites. Ideas? ![]()
![]() Hi, with the core rules stating:
Quote: Every bard spell has a verbal component (song, recitation, or music). does that imply the bard gets to choose which type he's going to pick? More to the point: Could a bard cast a Charm Person by playing a fiddle or even by whistling (a member of the family "music", after all)? Could he Cure Light Wounds by playing the drums? In particular, the Charm Person bit makes me think. That spell begs to find ways to cast it as surepetitiously as possible, and what better than to cover it in a poem on stage or an innocently whistled tune in the streets? ![]()
![]() Hi, I SO feel like I should be able to find the answer to this one, but I'm drawing blank after blank, as everything I find talks about natural weapons, which is NOT what I need. So, assuming I'm a 6th level fighter with Improved Unarmed Strike, doing a Full Attack, unarmed. How many attacks do I do, at what attack bonus and what damage? Sorry if I'm missing something really easy / obvious here. ![]()
![]() Hi all, I mean to introduce my 12 year old daughter to the vast world of RPGs soon-ish, but I'm not sure what system to use. Personally I haven't played anything but Pathfinder since like 2009 so I'm a bit out of touch with the "crowd". Back in my days I started with the first edition of "The Dark Eye"
I was considering buying her the Pathfinder Basic box (in german).
(yes, it needs to be german, but let THAT not deter you, for now, that's my problem mostly.) Any and all feedback welcome. ![]()
![]() Hi there, I am working on something that I'd like to publish for PF, and I'd like to use the PF Compatible license for it. Now, I read the license agreement, re-read it, and after sending a mail to Paizo and getting the recommendation to re-read it, I re-read it again and again.
In short: Out of the listed books at the very bottom in Exhibit B, what exactly can I use? There is #5, stating
Quote:
but that doesn't quite help me, unless this is the very exact form I get to use the PF content. There is not a lot in the book. Imagine sentences like "...so I'd recommend a high Strength for this character and taking skills like Swim and Acrobatics and Feats like Cleave".
Could someone shed a light as to whether that would be acceptable use or not? Thank you. (PS: I understand you're not lawyers, so I'd never take anything here as lawyers advice, don't worry). ![]()
![]() Howdie folks and friends, I'm in the planning stage of a campaign played with just me as the GM and one single player, and would value some feedback from you good folks. As the player intends to play a Bard (possibly not a bad choice) I figured, I'd add a cleric-ish NPC as a mostly-permanent friend / companion / GM-run-2nd-hero to complement his class. We talked about me running a "character" along with his, we're both fine with it and are (hopefully) aware of the ups and downs of this. I've been looking through the Curse of the Crimson Throne books and those appear a good choice for this experiment. At least the first installment seems to be fairly heavy in social skill interaction. Spoiler:
I was thinking of making the character a Shoanti as that would help nicely with part 6, maybe some more or less close relative to Thousand Bones. Any other helpful input from anyone on all of this?

![]() Hi folks, The wizard of my freshly started campaign has a knack for alchemy. So, he skilled accordingly: Craft - Alchemy, Knowledge Nature, Survival, the whole 9 yards.
I'm unsure what to do at this point though. None of the skill descritions seem to cover "finding alchemical ingredients" so I would seem stuck with coming up with a value of ingredients he could find so that I would be able to allow him item creation rolls with his alchemy skill, possibly for things like smokesticks and smokepellets or Nushadirs (PRD) Can anyone offer a bit more depth on this? ![]()
![]() Hi folks, I hope I'll start playing a Paizo AP via Roll20.net soon, and to first get my players and myself somewhat accustomed to the new medium, I was planing to run a single module first. I would like to let them keep their characters and use them for the long AP after that so A) the module shouldn't necessarily push them higher than Lvl 2 (3 could probably be compensated as well), and B) should possibly somehow make some sense in the context of the following AP. Could anyone recommend a Module / AP combo that would work, given those parameters? The APs I would fancy running most are:
...Hehm... turns out, I am not very picky, am I? ;) And as for the module, whether it's a PF Module, some PFS Scenario or anything else, makes little difference to me at this stage of my planning. Any input highly welcome. :) ![]()
![]() Hi folks, I'm toying with building a master spy character, focused on infiltration, deceit and trickery. So, a little bit inspired by Lord Varys from Game of Thrones, specifically his ability to perfectly hide behind a disguise. So, I was looking to go for "Master Spy" as prestige class and use Bard (Sandman) and Rogue (Investigator or Spy) as core classes to get there. At this (granted very basic) stage, any inputs to the general idea? ![]()
![]() G'day, folks. For those of you familiar with the german classic RPG system "Das Schwarze Auge", you might have come across this website:
It's a piece of work using google earth to make "Aventurien", the world that system is based on, come to live as a 3Dmodeled globe, including 3D-Models of whole towns and a lot more (historical maps using moveable timelines, for instance). It's amazing, in short. Now, not wanting to run an ad here, I wondered: Are there people trying their hand on something like that to map out Golarion in such a way? If not, would we be able to find a few dozen individuals out there, that might just be able and willing to do that? ![]()
![]() Howdie, something was just said in another thread, and sparked this thought:
Nice? ![]()
![]() Howdie, hope this has not been brought up yet but: How about a solid introdution system? I played the occasional MUD back in the days and some had a system where you would not see the characters names until they had been properly introduced to each other.
Exept for the moment you are setting up groups I can not imagine a case where not knowing a persons name would be a problem; and even the right LFG-System will avoid issues there. Input? ![]()
![]() Howdie, As PFO will (hopefully?) strongly focus on RP I wondered:

![]() Howdie, I have reread the rules on breaking doors a couple times over now and I must say I do not get it. There seems to be a distincion between using a weapon and "attacking" the door (that seems to be when hardness comes into play) vs when you try to kick it in (for some reason hardness would not matter anymore and all you use is a strength roll). What about natural weapons, like the ones on a summoners pet? This particular door has a hardness of 5, 20 HP and a Break DC of 23. Who can detail this for me, a.k.a. a dummy? ![]()
![]() Howdie, I am not sure if something is going wrong with my CC campaign: My players have now explored all of the base level of harrowstone and just finished the top level last night, where they defeated both the piper and father charlatan. I have so far NOT awarded them the XP for those two, because it dawned on me that going on like this they will easily hit level 5 before too long. Since the book states that they ought to end the adventure on level 4 on medium speed that kinda worries me. I have NOT awarded any bonus XP, but my players did indeed research a whole lot and so well that they got to the 25-stuff nearly on every topic. Am I doing something wrong, or are my players just doing something right? ![]()
![]() Howdie folks, As we prepare for the journey that is Kingmaker in our second group, I need to make a character for it, as I finally(!) don't GM but play. So, so far I am leaning to a ranger gnome, slightly crazy person. From the AGP I am picking either the Guide or Spirit Ranger "subtype".
Looking good so far? I am wondering whether to throw in a few levels of Oracle. I plain and simple love the flavor of this class. The Mystery would be Nature, of course, to fit with the scheme so far. Who can give any input on the idea(s) so far? ![]()
![]() I ijust placed this order. Since the options were "ship immediately", "ship with pending order" oder "ship with next subscrition item" and I wanted the dice shipped with Carrion Crown #2 I picked the last one, which seems to make my order ship with CC#3 instead. Can I change that somehow? Can someone from customer service attach this order to the one with CC#2 (Order 1667485)? ![]()
![]() Howdie, I suspect I am running in dummy mode this morning, but: A cleric of true neutral alignment with Madness and Healing as Domains who is NOT affiliated with a certain deity gets to know ALL the spells available for his level, is that right? If so, he/she can put ALL the spells in his normal slots, but only the ones listed as domain spells in the domain slot, aight? ![]()
![]() Howdie, I have recently become an AP subscriber starting CC1 (which I LOVE by the way and so do my players). Living in germany I would like to avoid unnecessary shipping cost so I wonder: How can I put a (non subscription) item into my shopping cart and make sure it gets send out with my subscrition?

![]() Not sure how much of this would be considered spoilers so I will hide the majority, just in case. Spoiler: After the funeral the PCs are left to do research on various topics and the book gives XP values for every clue found out. Now, are these handed out to the PC(s) doing the successful research or do they go to the party as a whole, in which case: Do they get split up evenly or do indeed all members get 50XP for discovering the DC 10 information about Harrowstone? ![]()
![]() Howdie again, Catch off guard seems just a little TOO perfect for a rogue, does it not? It negates all penalties for using improvised weapons and - more to the point - makes your opponent be flat-footed against your attacks. Which means the rogue can backstabb away the whole fight through, right?
Am I reading this correctly? ![]()
![]() Howdie folks, This gives me a bit of a headache: The chart for weapons includes 2 Rows for damage (Dmg S and Dmg M) and reading the notes on it (page 144) I understand that those depend on the weapons actual size (category). So as I would understand it, a medium sized dagger deals 1d4 damage. Now, just a few pages earlier (starting at the very end of 141) it explains that light weapons are used in one hand and a few lines down that they are two size categories smaller than their wielder. Adding those two together, a dagger sized for humans (Size category M after all) would already be a tiny object? Not to mention that it's damage die would already not be on the chart anymore, and I don't even want to start thinking about dagger wielding halflings... I am SURE I am getting something mixed up in a rather freaky way, so who would be willing to turn me around the right way? ![]()
![]() Howdie, I need help with a fresh 1st lvl Druid and its bear companions ac. Core states: +2 natural armor. But, what does that leave me with? Ac 2 seems ridiculous. I assume that it gets added to the PCs base 10 for a total of 12?

![]() Hello together, and let me start my first post with a heartfelt Thank You to Paizo and what they have done, with PF in general and the Adventure Paths in particular. Awesome work! Then right into my question:
Which is it then? |
