I was fixating on Constructs yes but you bring up good examples as well, using it to figure what type of explosives were used in an explosion or holes left from certain ammo types would be a good ones.

You can't do that. Library chips only work for Recall Knowledge use of skills and Engineering can't be used for that.

Functionally? Its mostly for the downloaded data set for Engineering.

downloaded data set
Granted this came out 2 years after library chips came out.

My main assumption is long ago, it was future proofing. They included all similiar topics that may come up.

So originally I have no clue given that Engineering didn't relate to the Recall Knowledge rules

The main feature is it counting as a downloaded Data Set. Which you can actually use for many things. such as Recall Knowledge.
"You can attempt untrained skill checks to identify a creature if the DC is 10 or less. You can take 20 on a check to identify a creature, but only if you have a means of performing research, such as access to an information network like a planetary infosphere or a downloaded data set "
From Identify creatures

If you have a library chip with engineering downloade data set. You can spend downtime to research and compile information and use Culture to research something related to Engineering. Because the specific of that action allowing culture recall knowledge about a non-culture topic means you can use that skill for any topic related to the downloaded data set.

So if you have the time. Someone with Culture and the library chips, can research any topic that would normally fall under a different skill for this chip options. Won't come up too much but for instance, could use that to use culture to recall knowledge about identifying a dead creature that would normally fall under life science.
Or they could use it with the actual skill at a bonus or allowed to attempt lower DC untrained ones.

IDing creatures is a different roll from recall knowledge, but you can still recall knowledge about the speciies, or that specific creature. DC might not be obtainable though.

GM is the arbitrator of it all of course.

Downloaded data set has a lot...

So you're saying useless for Society play?

How the construct functions, that a construct did something in the area, materials the construct might be made out of, basically pertinent stuff that would be relevant to an engineer would be my guess.

Engineering is used with more than just constructs. The uses of Engineering are Arm Explosives, Assess Stability, Craft Tech Item, Disable Device, Identify Creature, Identify Technology, and Repair Item.

I don't why you keep talking about constructs. I could Identify one, but that has nothing to do with Recalling Knowledge.

Constructs say hello.

Edit: Ah, this is for Starfinder, not P2, my apologies.

That said I'd still allow it to work vs Constructs, and the writer probably was thinking so as well.

Allow what to work versus constructs? Recall Knowledge and Identify creature are two separate uses of skills and are not the same thing.

The description for Library Chips says that they are used for Recall Knowledge checks with the skill they are for. Engineering has no Recall Knowledge use.

Are you sure? I know what the general description for restrictions says, but the description for this manufacturer says they make melee weapons and since most melee weapons have the analog trait it would seem useless if this followed those restrictions.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Can I have a Snowgarden Productions analog weapon?

Do I use a blank copy of the chronicle sheet or the filled out copy as the first chronicle sheet for my new character?

I can't download the updated 1-01 file.

Is anyone else confused about Talbot's escape? It says if he's alerted he get's in the mine cart and rides it to the entrance. The rail system isn't set up for a strait shot out of the mine. He'll have to stop at several intersections and switch the track direction.

I keep them in their stencils, cut up the box/cover along the folds to divide it into its constituant rectangles, place the rectangles into the outside cover slots of a three-ring binder, put full page sleeve covers in the binder, and place the token stencils into those sleeves.

This leaves me with a binder with easily accessible tokens, complete with cover/spine labels and a key on the back.

I'll try and post pics later today.

I would never have thought of that, thanks.

I store 'em like this.

That's just the Core Pawn Set, mind you. I got the organizer at Hobby Lobby for maybe $4, and they're grouped by race or faction or whatever made the most sense. The loose ones in the front are for the PCs in my current campaign.

Can't see pic.

Just like the title says. Pics will help too.

I'm interested in Tualatin, Or.
