While playing the Doomsday Dawn The Lost Star Scenario, we had some difficulty with using knowledges.

First, unlike in the old Pathfinder rulebook, Pathfinder 2.0 doesn't have a nice section that says what knowledges are used to identify what items or monsters. We didn't really know how to identify a monster or how to determine the DC. We also looked in the Playtest Bestiary, but although the little box at the top of a type of monster lists things like evil, demon, humanoid, etc, it didn't say what type of knowledge to use to identify it or how much information you get from your DC. Maybe we missed it in the playtest rulebook, but identifying monsters from what we were used to previously did not go smoothly.

Second, although exploration mode is flexible in timeframe, we were surprised to find that identifying a magic item took an hour to focus on in game. When we found the healing potion when searching one of the goblins, it would have been nice to use it right away instead of assuming an hour went by before being able to identifying it.

Our group ran a number of the quests and scenarios for the playteat yesterday. Although a GM could go on to the paizo website and report the rose street murders scenario to get GM credit, they couldn't find an option to report the first chapter of doomsday dawn. We know there is the playteat credit sheet where at some point in the future we will get credit for completing playteat stuff, but how come GMs can't report and get credit for the chapters like the scenarios, unless I am missing something.

Okay, I did a search for maps that are used in scenarios and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. So if it is out there, please point me in the right direction. If not, here is what I am looking for:
Is there a forum/post/webpage that is available showing the list of maps that are associated with each Starfinder scenario? I only play Starfinder Society so I don't need to buy maps that aren't specifically tied to a scenario, but I would love to buy the maps that are. I found some of what I was looking for in last years Gencon forum, but it was only for the first few Starfinder scenarios that were available at Gencon. Here is what I have found so far:

So I know Origins is having some issues of their own with the whole events registration going on today. Does anyone know if the missing PFS events is related or did something get messed up on Paizo's end?

The Exchange

I tried doing a search for Origins 2018, but didn't see any associated forums. Please let me know if this was already brought up in another forum.

I am perusing the events for Origins 2018 and saw that there are some PFS Playtests throughout the convention. Since I didn't think the rulebooks were going to be available until August, how is this going to work? Are these run by Paizo? Are there going to be any special boons associated with participating in them?

1. PFS Playtest Scenario #1: The Rose Street Revenge (Level 1 characters provided)
Description: There are two different play tests that are currently listed:
A wave of abductions and killings has struck Absalom, and when a Pathfinder falls prey to this criminal, the PCs set out to find the culprit and solve the so-called Rose Street Revenge.

2. Pathfinder Playtest Demo (Level 1 characters provided)
Description: Come playtest the new evolution of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Test your mettle against an evil priest and his vile minions! Characters provided.

Does anyone know the difference between the two listings? I am excited to try out the new Pathfinder stuff, just didn't realize it was going to be available at Origins.

When I was at GENCON 2017 this year, three PFS scenarios (two of which were specials) and the Starfinder 1-01 scenario. I have checked my Pathfinder Society account, but so far, I haven't received credit for any of the sessions I participated in at GENCON. How do I make sure I get credit for those sessions since they aren't showing up?

The Exchange

So now that some Starfinder events have been posted to the GENCON events page by Paizo I am interested in trying it out.

Although some of the scenarios, such as Starfinder Society: #1-00: Claim to Salvation, said that all materials will be provided including a level 4 pregen. However, the initial scenario for first level characters, Starfinder Society: #1-01: The Commencement, says that materials are not provided for this game. You must bring your own.

My question is, if the core rulebook isn't available until GENCON, do we have to get in line and obtain the book to play in any of the scenarios that don't provide materials? Will there be pregens? Will there be cheat sheets?

I know there are the "Quest Pack" hour long missions, I was just hoping to try out one of the scenarios before getting the chance to purchase the Core Rulebook.

So I am getting ready to run the Godsmouth Heresy for my PFS group and was able to download the chronicle sheet through the product webpage here: http://paizo.com/products/btpy8hil?Pathfinder-Module-The-Godsmouth-Heresy. But the download didn't include any special rules for playing the module. Am I missing something or do we just run the whole book for PFS credit?

So Flurry of Snowballs has a Range of 30' and it is a cone-shaped burst. Is it a 30' cone shaped burst or can you cast it up to 30' away as a 15' cone shaped burst? It was just unclear to me how large the cone-shaped burst was for the spell.

Okay so I know some things stack and some things don't, so I wanted clarification on if Blade Sense and Dodge work together. I have a Rogue Knife Master with Blade Sense and Dodge. Do they stack?

Blade Sense: While in combat involving light blades blade sense gains you a +1 dodge bonus to AC against attacks made against you with light blades.

Dodge: You gain a +1 dodge bonus to your AC.

I read somewhere that the only bonus that stacks with itself is dodge. Is this correct and if so, can someone point me in the direction in case I need to defend myself when challenged?

The Exchange

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I am looking at the next rogue talent that I want to get and I am leaning towards the Positioning Attack talent.

Positioning Attacks states: "Once per day, when a rogue with this talent hits a creature with a melee attack, she can move up to 30 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity. The movement must end in a space adjacent to the creature hit with the melee attack."

So just to clarify, can you move to become in base contact with an enemy, conduct the melee attack and then complete the move granted by positioning attack? It didn't say in the description of positioning attack whether or not you could move before completing the melee attack.

The Exchange

Okay, so I am developing the monsters for my upcoming encounter. One of the monsters have Protection from Good, DR 5/good and they also have Regeneration (good). How do these work together?

So if a Good PC attacks the monster and surpasses the extra AC provided to the monster from Protection of Good and does more damages to the monster than the damage reduction absorbs, then is it not able to regenerate? If the damage reduction absorbs all the damage done by the good PC does the monster still get to regenerate?

I am interested in developing a Paladin/Cavalier multiclass character that I will be using in the Pathfinder Society. My plan was to have it utilize a wolf as a mount.

When looking at the Cavalier class it states a small character can choose a wolf, "A Small cavalier can select a pony or wolf, but can also select a boar or a dog if he is at least 4th level."

If I started my character as a Paladin, and then at second level decided to add the cavalier, would I gain a free mount, specifically a wolf for it's Mount Class feature? I didn't know how that would work. When looking at the cavalier threads, it said it gets the free mount, but none of the threads I was looking at were related to incorporating the cavalier as a multiclass into an already existing character. I just was a little confused how this mount would appear out of no where.

This will be my first multiclassed character and the other thing I was confused on was how BAB/Saves work when leveling. So for example, I start with my Paladin. At first level he has BAB +1 and +2, +0, +2 for his respective saves. At second level I choose to multiclass to Cavalier. Would I then add the Cavalier's 1st level BAB +1 and +2, +0 , +0 to the Paladin's 1st level stats, resulting in BAB +2 and +4, +0, +0 OR would they just be a wash with each other and utilizing the Paladin's initial 1st level stats of BAB +1 and +2, +0, +2.

As the character progresses, I would choose to use the Paladin's divine bond towards a weapon and ignore the rules for a mount to remove the confusion associated with the mount my character was utilizing.

Also, since this is for the Pathfinder Society, are there specific mount requirements for Pathfinder Society such as obtaining a wolf through a boon or something?
