More good points. I will probably institute a House Rule for my son and his friends that they can buy levels "wholesale", so to speak, to keep it simpler for 3rd graders.

Talk about realism, I must have half the HP I had at 20! Or am I just -5 for "Save vs. Walking into Something and Hurting for Days.."?

Yes, I suppose much of that is true. My personal analogy was this.

Suppose you love the word "Suppose".

Next, you have a PhD in Biochemistry. You are a 10th Level Biochemist. However, times are hard and you decide to become a Dental Assistant. The coursework would be MUCH easier for you, but you would get the same exams as everyone else. It would take you the same amount of time (roughly) to become a 2nd Level Dental Assistant. So if it takes your new colleagues 2,000 points, it should take you 2,000 points, even if those points are easier for you.

This analogy breaks down, of course, if you are going from 10th Level Lakers Center to 2nd Level Mathematician. I like to pretend I'm both...

Okay, if I go on, a flame war will erupt and I swore those off in the late 90's. Thank you guys for your time.

You take the total number of levels, not the individual class's levels.

So you'd need 9000 experience to be Fighter 2/Wizard 2.

Thank you! I have to say, I don't like that rule. I end up spending 6,000 XP on 1st level attributes. Then 8,000 on 2nd level, if I'm understanding correctly. And I no longer advance in Fighter, right?

Howdy Folks,

You don't need to call me an idiot, I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it.

Suppose I want to be a Fighter / Wizard. Right now, I am a 2nd Level Fighter on Medium track.

Next level, I want to start multiclassing with Wizard. My question is how much experience I need to get to 2nd level Wizard. E.g. can I do

0 XP -> 1F

2,000 XP -> 2F

5,000 XP -> 2F, 1W

7,000 XP -> 3F, 2W

Is my SECOND Wizard level at 2,000 XP (Like a normal 2nd level class) or at 9,000 (Like a 4th Level class)

More succinctly, can I do

2W + 2F = 2,000 + 2,000 = 4,000 XP

Or "That's 4 levels so" = 9,000XP

Is there a consensus? Thanks!
