The combat value is high because them there greased pigs are hard to hit*. Better to outsmart it.
*In RPG terms, there's no distinction between AC and hit points in this game, so things that would boost DEX *or* CON both translate into increasing the difficulty to defeat.
Ah, thanks, now I understand. You can either outsmart via the smaller check or try and whack it at the higher number. Thanks for the clarification.
