So I find it interesting that the attempt to add flavor has made this class boring to me. Less spells per day than a wizard and delayed progression for a very limited or expensive gimmick (although admittedly some of the abilities are very powerful)

I now have no desire to play this class as it is now, unless I'm going to be starting at least level 6 (and even then it's debatable choice over a wizard).

If the reservoir rolled over to the next day (and was much smaller to compensate) then I might take another look.

I still think I'd rather just see a sorcerer bloodline that I didn't hate.

Sounds interesting.

I actually liked how it was before. Here's to hoping it will appear as an archetype in the finished product.

I find this really sad. This is the one class out of the whole book that I actually liked...

I love spont casting, but I absolutely despise the bloodlines. The arcanist take on them actually made them something I liked.

And the idea of trashing magic items (at least that's how I read it) is a horrible idea. Low magic campaign? Guess I can't play an arcanist...

What exactly is the ranger bringing to the table here? Because I honestly don't see anything...

Here's a class I would like to see.

6+int skills/level
weapon proficiency as is
light / medium armor and shield (not tower) proficiency.
3/4 BAB
Strong Fort/Ref saves
Full animal companion
No spellcasting ability
Teamwork feats and animal focus are possible components of the combat style (see below).
Also keep situational stuff like wild empathy, track, and woodland stride

Add Ranger traps (these are cool, thematically appropriate, and unused enough in normal play that they seem new).
Add a "ranger-ish" combat style. Ideally, these would be more than just a "pick a feat" that the ranger has in order to more fully define the class. Archery, melee, natural attacks, animal focus. For example, an animal focus would give the animal companion more abilities (evolutions, maybe?). Natural attack style would grant access to natural weapons and some feats appropriate to them. One of these could easily be a shape-shifting tree.

Summary
Ranger brings skill points, combat style, and removed metal restriction on armor.
Druid brings full animal companion, and a lot of the flavor of the combat styles.
