I don't see the problem. You are the GM you control what is and is not allowed in your games. I do the same thing with Ninja's and Samurai, and a lot of the non human looking races.

If you do not want him to play the race simply tell him its not allowed.

If he insists, tell him to run a game or to find a new one to play in.

Is there any chance of adding any no toys pledge levels/ I just cannot see myself paying money for the toy ships.

Like possibly a 425-450$ level the same as the 500$ level minus the 3 ships and mini.

425$ Buccaneer no toys: Both Pathfinder and Swords & Wizardry Signed & Numbered Hardcover Copies of Razor Coast w/ PDF, 2 Player's Guide w/ PDF, 2 pads of Character Sheets, both PF & SW EXCLUSIVE bonus modules by Casey Christofferson.

225$ Swashbuckler SW of Pathfinder no Mini: Swords & Wizardry or Pathfinder Signed & Numbered Hardcover Copies of Razor Coast w/ PDF, print Player's Guide w/ PDF, EXCLUSIVE bonus module by Casey Christofferson.

Okay so I have a question. My friend is intending to play a wrestler in my next game. The monk is not allowed so he can't play a full sumo. However, he wants to play a wrestler with the Rikishi diet. My friend is an optimal gamer and we are using point method for attributes. He is destroying all of his mental stats, and going for high strength and constitution. My question comes with the Rikishi Diet feat. Is the feat a little overpowered for a first level character? My friend with this will have a CMB of +8 and a CMD of 20 with the way he has made his character, plus he will be considered large, which makes him able to grapple enemies from a square away. When he requested to play this, I thought whoa this is overpowered for a first level character! I do understand that he needs to eat at least 5 trail rations a day, but a character who has a super high strength it won't matter for his encumbrance. I don't want to upset the player, but I guess I didn't understand that Rikishi diet was that strong of a feat. Oh and the player has already told me, that because his character's intelligence is so low, he intends to eat anything he can scavenge if he runs out of trail rations. Love the class, not sure about the Rikishi diet. Please Help!!!

He is only treated as large for the purpose of Grappling and forced movement. He does't get reach or anything else for being counted as large.

Benefit: You count as one size category larger for the purposes of grappling and resisting forced movement.

From the FAQ

Quote:

Trip Weapons: If you want to make a trip combat maneuver, do you have to use a weapon with the trip special feature?

No. When making a trip combat maneuver, you don't have to use a weapon with the trip special feature--you can use any weapon. For example, you can trip with a longsword or an unarmed strike, even though those weapons don't have the trip special feature.
Note that there is an advantage to using a weapon with the trip special feature (a.k.a. a "trip weapon") when making a trip combat maneuver: if your trip attack fails by 10 or more, you can drop the trip weapon instead of being knocked prone.

On a related note, you don't have to use a weapon with the disarm special feature (a.k.a. a "disarm weapon") when making a disarm combat maneuver--you can use any weapon.

Note: This is a revision of this FAQ entry based on a Paizo blog about combat maneuvers with weapons. The previous version of this FAQ stated that using a trip weapon was the only way you could apply weapon enhancement bonuses, Weapon Focus bonuses, and other such bonuses to the trip combat maneuver roll. The clarification in that blog means any weapon used to trip applies these bonuses when making a trip combat maneuver, so this FAQ was updated to omit the "only trip weapons let you apply these bonuses" limitation.

—Sean K Reynolds, 03/15/11

So both weapons (any weapons) are able to trip so I guess the answer is yes.

All I can say is I would run away from this group if I was any of the other players. Having one person complain and try to control anothers gameplay basically before it has even started is a little on the zealous side.

Seems like poor coping and or roleplay skills to me if letting a OOC comment or reading of someones character sheet can cause so much discontent on a persons part.

Some people here are going to argue what a bad person/wimp/jerk you are for not letting the guy play whatever he wants. Others are going to make a case for evil games/evil characters as if they never were, and never will be disruptive or bad at all. (Some are, some aren't.)

That's all horse pie. Those people know it.

But the short and only true and right answer is this. It's a game. You gotta have fun or there's no reason for playing it. To have fun, you gotta be comfortable. And if you're not comfortable with evil characters around, you get to say so and you are not a bad person for saying so calmly and respectfully.

So tell your GM respectfully how you feel, and ask him if it is worth it to mention it to the player out-of-game, or if the GM is okay with mitigating this in-game.

But say something, and suffer no guilt.

So are you saying the one persons fun should trump the other persons?

If you do not mind using 3PP monsters there is the Devil, Lilin

"Among the devilish ranks, lilins serve as spies and information gatherers. Though they possess decent combat skills, they generally do not serve in the hellish armies in any other role. Many an arch-devil, ignoring the foolish rumors that lilins are indeed some demon-devil crossbreed, has employed the services of a lilin on more than one occasion. Even now, many arch-devils keep a small retinue of these devilish mistresses stashed in a rival’s palace gathering as much information as they can on each other."

Since this is a Player Companion, I was really looking forward to this as a player. However, as a player I feel like that this book is just full of super specific options that I'm probably never going to use. So much of this books is spent on roles and traits for organizations that I just don't ever see PCs joining. There is just so much trouble involved with a PC joining one of these orders. That's why the knights that I have seen played are usually the knight-errant type with simple ties to certain areas, religions, or ideals.

But am I the only one he sees it that way? Unless you are playing in a really specific campaign, isn't it really disruptive when one player decides to become a Hellknight for instance? What does the rest of the party do while that person is training to become a Hellnight, is taking his Test, and then getting orders to carry out from his superiors. Do they just go along with the Hellnight? Or does the Hellnight order let its new initiates go "adventuring" with random people all the time?

And that brings up another point. Do you let 1st level characters call themselves Hellknights? Even though it says that they must face a life-or-death challenge vs a devil to become one? If not, then the only way to take any of those traits is via the Extra Traits feat, which pushes these traits even further away from ever being used.

I had other problems with this book as well. I mean, there is an entire page dedicated to saying that dwarven knights don't use mounts, wear heavy armor, and wield two handed weapons, while elves use light armor, bows, and majestic beasts. Nothing even remotely new there. And Squire grants you a cohort 2 levels earlier than leadership, but because he is 1st level he is in constant danger of being knocked out (or even outright killed) by a single CR appropriate AoE attack.

The only things I may use from this book are the Carry Companion spell, which is awesome; the Cavalier Orders, which are okay; and the Knightly Code Traits, which are finally Traits...

Honestly quite a lot of options are that way from most of the books IF you are running a AP. Now if you are running a homebrew game while just using Golarion as the setting that will open up a lot of the options.

1. No you cannot attack someone 5' away with a reach weapon.
2. Yes but the creature/person being attacked has cover
3. Same as number 1
4. Yes

Most of it is common sense. Try wrapping your head around attacking diagonally with reach weapons at distances greater than 10 feet.

I could not really find a definitive answer a question I have.

Can you use a Bardic Performance and Masterpieces at the same time?

Example: Inspire Courage as a Dervish Dancers Battle Dance and The Dance of 23 Steps

Masterpiece says that they are a unusual application of the Bardic Performance ability. And they use rounds of bardic performance. But are they actual bardic performances?

James Jacobs answered Here with a yes. I was just wondering what everyone else thought.

I prefer to play Hard Mode with no cheats enabled. If the GM is not trying his best within the rules to kill me the game just breaks down to "the players win and we will just run through some encounters while already knowing the outcome".

Pathfinder is beginner mode IMO (with cheat codes).

My first gaming experience was 1979 at 7 years old when my father killed off my half elf ranger in module T-1 Village of Hommlet. So hardcore DnD is what I prefer and am used to.

The reason I say spoiled players is that a person comes here to post about how horribad their GM is and wants them to sign a petition basically.

None of us know anything about the nature of the situation except what the poster writes (which could be all lies). Then they more than likely will use people agreeing with them as evidence to prove to their GM just how bad they are.

It is something that happens over and over on these boards and should never be posted up in the first place.

Dark Archive

Does it work that way?

You cannot take the revelation until 11th level. So you shouldn't be able to apply the bonus from favored level until 11th. So at 12th level it would be at a level 13.

I don't think you can apply a bonus to something you do not have.

So I think the earliest you could get 17th level would be at 15th.

I substituted Reme for Magnimar and Fairhill for Sandpoint. I just added Bards Gate along the Yondabakari River.
