Back to regularly scheduled programing!

Two days have passed since your group have taken up watching the town and its activities. Around the same time everynight the howl can be heard from the town and you come to find out from Dashki who over heard your briefing to Almah about it that it is the infamous Howl of the Carrion King, a nightly message from the ruler of the Kulldis tribe in Kelmarane to agents of the gnoll monarch in unknown hidden base on Pale Mountain. During the next days scouting your group notices some unusaual activity around the noonish hour. A group of six gnolls leading a human prisoner from the Battle Market to the open square west of the market. There they stake the man to the ground and pull out his intestines and inner organs with red-hot iron tongs. The screams of the man echo as far as the old monastery......

Time is getting closer for the group to start making its moves even closer to the town gaining more information for their boss before the assult on the town begins. As your group sits in the pesh field at night of the same day watching the town and deciding the best avenue into it you all notice a group of gnolls leading another prisoner wearing the same type of clothing as the man from the day before. Instead of leading the man to the same place as before they keep heading out of town a little ways into the pesh fields where they force the man to his knees. Around the man the gnolls start to beat the ground around the man with oversized staffs never touching the man, only the ground for some reason......

I no nothing of Saul's man Larur, I only met him a few times and then only for a few moments, only delt with Saul on the matter of money he need to borrow, he's been slow to pay and with the recent success of his business, much thanks to you folks from what I hear by the way, I thought it would be a good time to press him for the rest of the coins he owed but I'll just forget about the whole thing if you let me live..... He continues to shake as his eyes never really leave Charsis's Earthbreaker hovering above him in its threatening manner.

Liberty's Edge

Janiven clears her throat tired of the banter, a decision needs to be made and by her it seems, Ok, we are not going to kill him! Tie him up and leave some water, we knock him out and leave quickly, leave his weapon so he can defend himself against other nasty critters down here. Quickly now before others come and lets leave the other bodies spread out down other tunnels to confuse any would be hunters of us or food..... She looks about waiting for the group to finish with her orders so they can get out of these gods cursed wet sewers and get some place warm and dry, and a bath would be nice to she thinks....

The Hellknight puts up no fight as the group moves about to complete Janiven's decisions.........

Liberty's Edge

Taking a few moment to decide which direction would be best to seek out their intended target without to much resistance proves to be almost impossible since they all look to be about the same. Choosing the double doors on the western wall Talam and Ebenezer take a moment to listen at the doors for any threats but hear nothing out of the ordinary behind them. Talam checks a few other doors with the same results but again knows all of the doors are unlocked and pose no threat to him and his friends.....

Spoiler:
The woman in the bed looks exactly like the discription given to you for Trina!

Thelix makes his way over to the still sleeping woman in the bed wondering why she didn't awake at all of the noise they made entering. Off to the side Yselle looks around the rest of the flat looking for other occupants but finds none, not really any place for someone to hide but better to be cautious than dead. Bearn follows in with his shield raised ready for any dangers but just like Yselle finds nothing out of the ordinary but for the sleeping woman. As close as Thelix is to the woman he can't figure her out, she looks real enough, must be just a sound sleeper is all one would guess, especially in this neighbourhood. Majenko screams in your heads again, she's on the roof the next building over now, what are you waiting for, she's getting away......

Mean while on the street level Inros looks around and tries to hear which way the fleeing woman is heading. Its really hard to tell from his current position with all of the regular street noise and the collection of different levels of building on top of each other at odd angles makes it impossible to see her from the street. The words from Majenko alert him to move down the street a bit but it gets no easier to see but a glimpse of a figure moving fast across the roofs tells him he is following in the right direction he hopes or maybe it was just shadows just playing with him......

The hellknight steps back from the new threats as he shakes off the spell Mithrael cast upon him. I surrender already! I have no chance against so many of you, he says with a shudder, a look of confusion on his face not sure what is going on for the last few seconds. Shaking he tosses his sword to the ground even to show he is no further threat to the capable group in front of him......

After some time Thelix finally shoulders the door open and stumbles into the room nearly tripping over the boxes and crates that were blocking the door moments ago. The rest of the group files into the one room flat behind him. The flat combines all the amenities of a bedroom, kitchen and a painter's studio into one fifteen foot square space, leaving little room for much else. A stack of cheese and bread sits on the counter next to several waterskins, while the easel in the opposite corner holds a half completed painting of an imp and pseudodragon fighting atop a church steeple. A single window looks out over the tangled rooftops of the Shingles, while just under it, a woman sleeps in a curled-up position on a low bed......

Inside the stockade before the rest of the party joins Talam, he takes a closer look at the goblin trophy room taking his time but finds nothing of intrest other than the one of the daggers pinning the batlike wings to the wall has a pearl handle and on closer inspection the wings look to be that of a harpy. As Talam is checking out the dagger the rest of the group enters the room. Having quickly checked the doors and peeking down the one passageway, Talam informs the group that all of the doors are unlocked. On the western wall is a set of double doors and on the northern wall are multple doors leading into the interior of the stockade plus three more down the small passageway heading east from the northeastern corner of the trophy room which you all now stand!

Still need Blackleaf and Talam's emails so I can send you the map of Thistletop.

I am still here! This holiday season has been extremely crazy work wise and have not had much time for anything but sleep and work and at the last minute my folks sold their home and bought a new house in Ohio so I had to fly home to help which is where I am at now. Moving in the winter snowy wonderland sucks by the way! The game will continue I promise! The move should all be done today and I have the rest of the week here in Ohio on vacation and plan on getting things back on track with the game!

Spoiler:
If you are standing in the chapel facing the altar you are facing north. If you were to climb back up into the chapel's upper works to the northern wall where the ornate window is, (where Haz fought the pugs who were trying to escape out the windowless window) you could see the ruined village of Kelmarane about a mile and a half away. A small river runs along its eastern side. There is a pic I posted a while back to give you an idea what the Monastery kinda looks like to help get a feel of the area. Hope that helps a bit, let me know!

Its a nice cool night as the caravan settles into the Monastery. Standing outside on the southern side of the ruins you all stand before a very small camp fire and are finishing up your briefing with Almah. No I am afraid the reports are very slim on information about the inhabitants of Kelmarane. There have been sighting of gnolls coming and going out of the place but no one has been able to get to close for any further information yet! I hope you all will be able to change that for me. Again thanks for your efforts and good luck.

She leaves you to your mission and heads back into the Monastery to her quarters. As you walk to the north toward the ruined village you notice a guard posted in the top window of the Monastery facing the village keeping an eye on it. You head down into the valley towards the large pesh fields blocking your path to the village. As you begin down the small slope you notice lights in the distance, a flickering of flames you would guess. You were told of an old abandoned ruined fort in the hills north of Kelmarane but it seems someone or something has taken up residence there now. Its about midnight and you are slowly getting closer to the village when a impossibly loud, yelping howl that seems to come from the roof of the Battle Market, the largest structure in the village, a minute or two later, a faint, similar call can be heard from the distant Pale Mountain. It ends just as quick as it began leaving everyone a little on edge. The first night its decided to just circle the entire village from a safe distance to get a lay of the village and the best possible approaches(this giving you the map know in your possession). You spend most of the night travelling around the village and encounter no issues with the residents of the village. You spot many gnolls moving about during your progress, to many for you to take on at this time and seeing first hand the advice from Almah about guerilla strikes.

Your trip finally ends as the day breaks and time for your own rest after a quick report to Almah.....

Spoiler:
First I would like to wish all of you a Happy Holiday and I hope you all have a fun and safe time! Hopefully you are not dealing with snow, luckly just rain here in the Pac NW! I wrote this post more to get us back into the feel of the game, give a quick report to Almah and the next night will be More interesting I promise. Ask any other questions you might have also. Merry Christmas! Zoo!

The ocean wind blows through causing the goblins around the corner playing their game to grow more excited, taunting the holder of the reign to the seagull that he has no chance. At the base of the stockade the heroes quickly whisper to wach other on a plan to best get Mirni acrossed. Ebenezer continues to concentrate on his spell in case some of the goblins or goblin dogs round the corner of exit the stockade. While the others work on a plan Talam slips inside the slightly open door and finds himself in what looks to be a trophy hall. Outside, Roine tells the others to signal Mirni while he causes a slight distraction. Chanting a quick spell of his own he calls an ally to come forth to aid them. A gust of wind with a different feel to it is the only indication of its arrival. It quickly get to work whipping around the corner and straight into the playing goblins who shout in complete shock at the wind from this new direction. The signal is given and Mirni begins to race across the bridge. The tower on the left still appears empty but the one on the right diffinately has activity going on within, but their focus is on the sudden shouts of their mates and not even bothering to look in the bridges direction. Her lith form streaks across the bridge undetected as Roine's little friend does the trick. Peaking around the corner still unseen, Blackleaf watches as the four goblins races around trying to grab onto something to keep themselves from falling over. The goblin holding the leech of the seagull looses his grip and the bird takes off with a shriek and wings away followed by the four goblin dogs jumping in the air trying to recatch dinner. The goblins in the tower taunt and laugh at the antics of their mates on the ground. Mirni hugs the stockade wall, the dash across the bridge not even leaving her winded. She confirms that there are two in the tower above them and none in the other tower as far as she can tell. Inside Talam stands at the entrance looking around the room on this hard packed soiled floor as if the builder ran out of lumber after building the walls and the roof, or as if they simply never thought about building on the floor. A number of poorly preserved horse and dog heads are mounted along the eastern wall, while along the southern wall hangs a pair of large batlike wings tacked to the wall with rusted daggers. The room is fairly big with double doors on the western wall a passageway leading off in the northeastern corner of the room and along the north wall two single doors and a set of double doors. Outside the others quickly follow Talam's lead and enter the stockade....

Spoiler:
First I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday! I hope everyone is having fun and being safe from the snow if you live in that kind of area. Luckly for me its just been rain in the Pac NW. To make things easier for this part of the adventure I am going to send the map of Thistletop to your email! My list of emails for everyone has been misplaced so if you would leave yours here I will send it out. So four goblins and four goblin dogs outside of the stockade on the eastern side and two goblins in the southeastern tower is what you know so far. Where you are at you are currently facing north out into the ocean.

Across the bridge Mirni waits for the sign when it is safe to cross as the rest of the group watches the dog sniff at them. The smell from Talam's borrowed disguise seems to do the trick, the dog turns back to the fun on the side of the building leaving the group alone once again in front of the goblin stockade. Roine takes the free moment to ready a spell in case they need to act fast while Ebenezer again brings up the need for a distraction to get Mirni across. Blackleaf is no where to be seen, Ebenezer's spell still in effect leaving the elf the best and maybe even the funnest chance to cause a distraction to get Mirni across unless she just decides to take a risk and rush across while no goblins are looking.......

The splash of water fills the air as the two Hellknights crash into the foul water filled room. The one Hellknight left standing tries to block Tahlali's blade as the elf presses forward against his foe. His blade slips in again finding the flesh of the Hellknight who staggers a bit but takes the cut and tries to make an attack of his own but fails to see the giant half-orc come up and end his thought of attacking his new elf friend. One of the poor Hellknights on the sewer floor with water seeping into his armour quickly has no time to gather his thoughts about getting up and back into the fight as he is set upon by a large Mwangi man and a strange looking reptile with razor sharp teeth. He has no chance as the two working in tandem easily over coming his defences and silencing him forever. In the back of the battle, Xaandros continues to shout words of encouragement to his fellow rebels and taunt the remaining Hellknight, who manages to get to his feet to face a group of rebel heroes. He looks around at his fallen knights and desides the best course of action is to flee and get help as he is no match for these foes. He dashes down the hallway they orginally came from begining to shout at the top of his lungs for help.........He does not get to far in his flight though as a pony blocks his passage to freedom and help........He turns thinking he might have a small chance now that he can only face one of the rebels at a time in this small passageway....

The wind dies down which enables the two "goblins" to scamper across the rest of the way without any more trouble. The goblins in the window goes back to whatever they were doing having lost interest in the two's plight on the bridge. Not being very alert creatures over a good game of whatever dumb game that keeps them occupied they only see two "goblins" crossing. Blackleaf easily crosses next with the help of Ebenezer's spell, travelling unseen to everyone's eyes, even his friends. Next up is Roine who goes about the same route as the first to and makes himself look like a "goblin". He meets the wind half way and waits it out, then rushes the rest of the way to join the others. So far the plan is working as everyone is acrossed but Mirni who is going to have a little harder time to cross. No one seems to be paying to much attention to the bridge right now but one never knows when that could change. Standing next to the stockade doors which stand ajar. The stockade is made of thick wood. Closer inspection reveals that most of the wood seems to have been scavenged from ships-a few nameplates remain affixed to some of the timbers, while others look like they might have once been masts...around the side of the stockade the game of Killgull continues with a heated debate. The goblin dogs can be heard dashing about but one peeks its head around the corner at your group sniffing the air......

With the group in tow Bahir leads everyone to the Courtyard of the Monastery to find what is calling him. Huge branches and overgrown weeds clog the central area which seems to be where Bahir is directed to go. After sometime clearing out the area to be able to search for the item Bahir finds the spot his vision speaks of. Digging down about three feet he slowly unearths a weapon, symbols of Sarenrae begin to appear on the blade of the weapon and once his hand grips the hilt of the weapon and draws it forth from the earth everyone can see a dirty but extremely well made scimitar which fits Bahir's hand perfectly. At the same moment the caravan's arrival is all but apparent as sounds of camels and wagons groan under the weight of its occupants. Almah and Garavel congratulate you all on your success as they get a quick tour of the building. Almah immediately begins to assign quarters to her party and you all giving the dormitory to you. She says after a short rest they will get together to make plans on the next faze of the mission.

Later that evening sitting at a small fire outside of the Monastery Almah begins to speak of the next they that needs to happen in her plan to retake Kelmarane, You all have done a great job in securing a base of opperations for us and now we must begin to watch and plan to see what is the best way for us to succeed. Your group is to go on a scouting mission into the outskirts of the village in an attempt to gauge the forces defending Kelmarane. I warn you not to attempt to fight your way into the Battle Market where it is believed the gnoll tribe has set up shop as preliminary intelligence suggests that the forces there are sufficient to overwhelm you in an all out attack. I do incourage guerilla strikes into the town, taking out its defenders a few at a time all the while exploring the ruined buildings on Kelmarane's lower slopes. She concludes looking to each of you for conformation of your duty.

The Field Marshal nods as the group accepts their new mission. She says, "If you can deliver Trina safe and sound to a memeber of the guard you will recieve 1000 gold coins. Now you must go, every minute you delay is one more minute for the mob in the Midland to grow. I wish you good luck in this task!"

She strides out of the tavern leaving you all to your new job. The walk to the Midland's is an easy one, once there though it takes sometime to avoid the crowds of angry mobs or Order of the Nail patrols. Knowing where you are going is a huge help as your group arrives at the tenement in which Trina is said to live. You find yourselves in a densely built section of the city , a place where at ground level direct sunlight is a rareity. Above, jury rigged catwalks, overhanging roofs, lines of laundry and homemade bridges of rope and boards create a cluttered tangle, a multi-level of mess of gutters, upper floors and rooftops. You stand below in this slum area known as the Shingles. Here, in shanties built atop roofs, on upper floors of otherwise abandoned tenements, and amid jungles of chimmeys, peaked roofs and eroding gargoyles and vagabonds, thieves and monsters and perils to match those found n the most dangerous slums. This is where Trina lives. Her home is an old tenement, three floors high containing two dozen flats. Your directions lead you here with little problem. Her place is said to be on the third floor. Few people can be seen most likely staying in due to the rowdy mob roaming the streets. You stand facing the building with steps leading up to a set of double doors opening into the interior. A small foyer can be seen within, an short hallway containing the first floors flats, a set of steps leading to the floors above and the rest of the flats.......

Quickly making your way to the third floor you find yourselves in front of Trina's home in the southwest corner of the building.....

Quickly taking action seeing his friends need help, Pae draws forth his bladed whip and lashes out at creature while stepping back to give the weapon room to do its thing, it skids by the mold as it moves forward towards Hazreem again. Daumari seeing the situation potentially getting worse if he does not act fast attacks the slime by Hazreem bringing down one of the spherical metal weights down with a satisfying splat. The mold stops moving towards Haz, just quivering jelly-like on the ground mear feet away. The other mold continues to climb up Bahir body at a fast pace, it seems to try and engulf him but is having trouble with Bahir's size. It now covers most of his body making its way to an opening.....

Eyes wide with this green slime creature covering most of his body, making hard to breath and move his arms, Bahir slices down on the thing trying hard to hit it but not himself finds a spot and cuts the creature making it quiver, almost like in anger at the attack. Hazreem seeing his foe slain in front of him turns and lets the charge he was holding at the creature almost engulfing his friend Bahir, seeing no other choice at the moment. The electrical blast smashes into the creature and Bahir, the creature shakes violantly and suddenly stops climbing up Bahir's body. Relief shows on Bahir's face as he is able to breathe easier now with the thing dead, next to him, Efreat, with a slight smile on his face for only a moment pulls his dagger back to himself covered in slime from the creature. The smile disappears but a look of satisfaction remains.......Unease at the close call and still covered in slime makes Bahir feel a little violated and unclean....and sticky......

With the battle over the group spreads out to give a quick search of the area looking for more threats and are fortunate to find none. The only find is a sheaf a paperwork on one of the tables with alchemical formulae written on them. Meanwhile Bahir is slowly making progress removing the slime from his body and armour.....

To the west is a door leading further into the crypt area.....

Spoiler:
Battle over! Kept thinking of Ghostbusters as I was writing this, lol! To keep things moving and no danger left only a few treasure items my next post will be of the caravan finally arriving! Please role play as much as you can, finding the items, returning to the surface to find the caravan at the Monastery, informing Almah and Garavel what you found and did and anything else you can think of! You find a +1 mace, set of yellowing masterwork leather armour +1 dagger and a teak box emblazoned with the holy symbol of Sarenrae. The box contains a wooden holy symbol of Sarenrae suspended from a silver chain and a fully charged brooch of shielding. Also Bahir took 3 hps of damage from the electrical blast. End of this Act, I'll check XP to see where we are at!

For Bahir only

Spoiler:
As you are cleaning up you get an impression of a weapon on your mind. The impression seems to be drawing you to the center of the overgrown courtyard where the weapon is to be found.

With a plan sorta figured out, Talam and Ebenezer quickly put on the dead goblin's gear which instantly finds the two scratching themselves and funny enough helps with their disguises. Everyone takes positions ready for the plan to be put into action. The two take off across the swaying bridge trying to look as goblin like as possible, it seems to work as none take notice as they begin to cross. The wind picks up a bit causing the two too hang on tighter to the ropes making both very nervous as they are now up close to see the goblin's handywork, as expected not very good. The bridge seems to hold the small ones with no problem but they can tell their might be problems with too many larger folk. They make it about half way before they need to stop as a big gust of wind hits the bridge and they need to hold on tight as it rocks back and forth with the wind. Roine, Mirni and Blackleaf all notice a few goblins pointing and laughing (from the tower on the right) at the two holding onto the bridge for dear lives. They seem more amused at the sight than alerted by someone disguised as themselves coming to kill them.......

Spoiler:
First, Ebenezer and Talam make disguise checks to see if the goblins see through your ruse. Also make acrobatic checks to see if you hold on or if you lose your grip. Everyone state your actions, once the two are across who is going next then next and so forth, and how. Roll acrobatics checks for when you cross plus any other relevant checks like stealth. I jumped ahead a wee bit so if their is something you planned on doing before stepping foot onto the bridge just add that to your post first. Sorta reminds me of a couple hobbits in a similar situation sneaking past in disguise, lol!

Za'unda begins to wave his hands and whispers a few words making his wooden club to come alive twisting and new growth appearing, creating a more dangerous weapon in the hand of the Mwangi man. From the rear of the party next to Janiven and Morosino, Xaandros summons forth a small pony sending it at the Hellknights entering the small room. It crashes into both of them sendng them into the sewage filth nearly knocking over the knight engaged with Shadow Blade and the elf himself. Liberty's Edge

The Field Marshal enters the tavern you all are at finishing up a nice peaceful dinner. A look of concern on her face as she approaches the table. She begins to speak right away ignoring simple pleasentries....

“You’ve doubtless heard the stories that the king’s killer has
been named. Yet there’s something more going on here, I’m afraid. Queen Ileosa could have quietly had this Trinia Sabor arrested at any time, yet the way in which she revealed the information to the city seems to me like she wants the riots to come back. Certainly, with the mob and the Hellknights out on the street, the girl doesn’t stand a chance at a trial—they’ll lynch her the moment they find her. And even if she did kill the king, mob justice isn’t the way. Worse, if she’s innocent, the real killer can use this distraction to throw us off the trail forever. “Before Trinia is executed, we need to be absolutely sure she did this thing. And that means we need to catch her before the mob. We know where she lives—a flat in Midland at 42 Moon Street—but soon, so will the mob. The Hellknights don’t seem to care as much about catching her as they do about containing the mob—something about
the “order of law” makes it a greater priority for them to contain than a possible assassin. I can’t say I disagree completely, but the problem is, the Hellknights are only making it worse. The mob’s covering most of Midland now, and Trinia’s flat is near the middle of the mess. I’ve got all available guards at work keeping things from getting any worse—and if I were to send them into Midland, they’d trigger a riot. “I’m sure you can see where this is going. I need you to get into Midland, find Trinia, and bring her back to me so we can deliver her, safe and sound, to somewhere where she can be interrogated—preferably with magic, so we can be absolutely sure about her role in Eodred’s death. Get in there, catch her, and get out without letting the mob get its hands on her. I’ll have agents and officers nearby. If you can get her to one of them, we’ll be in the clear. Any questions?”

Liberty's Edge

If everyone wants to role play the shopping and such I am all for it! It was not the sense I was getting from this group as after the combat was over the posts got slimmer and or dried up so I thought I would keep things moving. If you all want me to lay the law down on the loot division I can do that but to me it looks like you all have things in hand. As for weapons and armour prices would be half the cost in the core book unless we role play it that is, your choice!

Zoom, do you have any house rules regarding basic knowledge checks? They're supposed to be instant, allowing me to act normally in addition to the check, but both times I've made them to try to decide my character's action you've resolved the round of combat before giving the results.

It really wasn't a real combat round per se, as no one rolled attack rolls. I went ahead and used Efreat's attack because he missed and didn't roll an init at the time but wanted to include his post to the game. Also someone was going to get slimed no matter what the group did anyhow. I also wanted to keep things going a little since my posting times have been slim of late.

As the moldy liquid jumps out at you the heroes take action, Pae in the back of the group notices the attack and draws his blade. Daumari does the same as he searches his memory for what type of creature they have stumbled upon. By the looks of it he concludes they are dealing with a type of slime mold that likes to swarm up the persons body and enter into the nose or mouth to consume their prey. One of the oozes splashes up at Bahir and begins to climb up his leg. The other tries the same at Hazreem but falls short on the ground but quickly begins to ooze its way toward its intended meal. Bahir's shield comes up to late to ward off the slime but is able to put himself in the way to protect the others. Hazreem jumps back a step to get away from the sloshing slime all the while searching for any information he can remember of such a creature they now face. He comes to the same conclusions as Daumari and notes to himself that fire will not effect this thing and trying to find a good spot to hit a vital spot will be immpossible as the thing can move in all directions at once. Off to the side Efreat levels his hand at the creature at Hazreem's feet not wanting to hit Bahir's slime as he might hit Bahir instead. His ray of fire streaks out and smashes into some of the glassware on the shelf instead of the creature......

Liberty's Edge

Days pass by as the group takes some time to rest and recover from their battle at Eel's End. The time is spent eatting, drinking, shopping or visiting with family or friends. The streets still thrum with unrest and wild rumors, crime seems to be on the rise, with pickpocketing, robberies and assults skyrocketing. Some still hiss "upsurper" and "murdering harlot" at the mere utterance of Ileosa's name, and more shockingly, rumors that the king's death was not of natural causes. Most of the rumors purport that someone poisoned the king and in some circles view the queen as the prime suspect. All of these are just rumors though as no evidence has surfaced yet to charge anyone of this crime against Korvosa.

After a couple of weeks at your own leasure, a meet up for dinner is planned by the group to catch up on things. Talk mostly centers around the latest news of a women painter named Trina Sabor, who spent many hours with the king during the weeks before his death. An eye witness confesses to seeing her put poison powder into the king's tea the night he took ill. It is rumored that the portrait was completed at the same time and her services were at an end.

When dinner is almost at a close a breathless Korvosan Guard bursts into the tavern you are all at and informs you that Field Marshal Cressida needs to speak with you all immediatly. As all of you begin to get up quickly the guard on his second breath says to sit tight as she will be arriving in a few moments.....

Spoiler:
I'll stop here for the moment before the Field Marshal speaks with you so if you want to go over shopping for new stuff or about any leveling up issues now is the time. Yes it seems Thruska is gone, so we are at five! So split the coins, the magic items are still in your possession for the time being, Inros, +1 leather armour and Thelix, Ring of Feather Fall are yours. I'll say you handed over the drugs and poison to the Field Marshal during your last meeting unless someone abjects!

While the others banter back and forth Roine uses a simple spell to check the items found on the dead goblin. He sees auras of various shades and intensities coming from the goblin's possessions. All of the potions glow which he suspected and the wand plus the cloak and the armour. He concentrates on what he is doing for a bit of time giving the others time to check around and see if they were found out yet. It seems luck is holding out for the heroes as all is quiet. Moving back down the briar tunnel towards the rope bridge you find what looks to be a watchpost, it stands empty, maybe the goblins took greater losses than first thought. Sneaking up further to the end of the tunnel you spy the ocean and the way across to the goblin lair. A rope bridge spans the gulf between the cliff and a roundish, flat topped island some sixty feet to the north, out in the ocean. Thick patches of nettles and briars grow atop the island, but most impressive feature is a wooden one story stockade. Two thirty foor tall watchtowers guard the stockade's southern facade. The rope bridge itself is made of hairy rope and thick wooden planks, the whole thing creaks and sways in the wind above the churning surf eighty feet below. A quick look across to the eastern watch tower show signs of goblins moving about but seem occupied with their own pleasures on the island and not the main land, the other seems empty. Off to the right(eastern) side of the stockade a blur of a goblin dog or of a goblin come into view through the briars, they seem to be involve in a game of some sorts as a long length of twine is tied to a seagull which is attempting to escape the goblin holding the other end while the others throw rocks at it trying to kill it, turns are taken to throw their rock and the one holding the twine seems to be against the others as he tugs and pulls on the twine to make the others miss.

Quietly moving back to the goblin druid's lair you can see Roine is just finishing up checking for arcane magic and talk begins of how to cross the bridge......

Spoiler:
To save time, 2 potions of cure light wounds, 1 potions of speak with animals, 2 potions of tree shape, wand of produce flame(34 charges), +1 leather armour and a cloak of resistance +1. Next up, Crossing the Bridge!

The battle continues, Mirni upset at her miss seconds ago tries again and this time find her mark. The arrow takes the goblin in the shoulder pushing the wild looking goblin back a step. Her friend, Melldae takes another bite out of the goblin and pulls trying to make the goblin fall over which it begins to do. As it does it tries to cast some kind of magic at the cat but instead gets hit by multiple glowing energy balls from Roine's wand ruining its spell. The goblin had no chance against the heroes of Sandpoint as Talam finishes off the goblin with one of his sickles as the goblin lays on the ground with Malldae still hanging on with its teeth. The goblin's Fire Pelt fairs no better as Blackleaf's axe finishes it off as he screams at the thing even after the animal lays on the ground dead at his feet. Ebenezer sits back and watches his friends easily finish off the goblin druid and its pet.

With the battle over now the main concern is if the presense has alerted other goblins, especially with Blackleaf's raging battle chants. Searching the goblin five potions are found plus a wand, leather armour, a spear, sling and a cloak.

Spoiler:
Quick battle, sorry Ebenezer misread your post. You are correct Blackleaf on hp's!

On the count of three the earthbreaker smashes the door open as the rest search the rest of the room for Smeed's hiding spot. He is found curled up in a ball in the closet covered with shards from the door that was just smashed in by Charsis. Liberty's Edge

Your group takes plenty of time to rest and recharge from earlier actions, each doing his or her own thing but still staying close to the group for protection. Efreat takes this time to look through the book found in the monasteries library, Court of Stone and Flame. The book main topic is geniekind and other related things to genies. A few chapters deal with a group of five powerful genies from antiquity called the Templars of the Five Winds. They have not been heard from for centuries but some travelers in the northern reaches of Katapech and the southern bounds of Osirion still sometimes attribute miracles or victories to their guidance. Legend tells that the Templars defeated a great evil hundreds of years ago near the Pale Mountain in the Brazen Peaks, a pinnacle not very far from the village of Kelmarane. Each Templar was associated with a specific aspect of the wind and each wielded a distinct, highly potent magic weapon. Davashuum represents the fury of winds from all directions and wields a powerful quarterstaff, Kardswann, the south wind with an elaborate greataxe, Pazhvann, the east wind with a tremendous burning flail, Vardishal, the north wind and Zayifid, the west wind and carries a razor sharp scimitar. These great heroes of geniekind are said to be enemies of the cult of Rovagug, god of destruction. Many tales are recounted in this volume about triumphs in battles against the spawn of that vile religion. The Templars themselves are jann, mortal genie-spirits dedicated to no paticular element. For some reason these jann cannot die, though none have been seen in centuries. The Templars served a powerful dijinni princess named Nefeshti, a great genie noble whose designs upon Osirion and Katapech have had good and bad consequences. Another chapter talks about a shamed member of the efreet nobility of the City of Brass named Jhavhul. The city is the famed location on the Plane of Fire. It goes into how he ventured to teh Material Plane in search of an army and a legacy to raise hes standing, during which time he and his armies warred against the Templars of the Five Winds, but that he was never seen in the City of Brass again.......

Rested you set off to resume your quest to clean this holy place of evil and make it an staging place for the next part of your mission, the opening of Kelmarane to trade. For awhile its seems you have completed your job finding nothing but dust and grime to fight until you find the Shrine to Vardishal, one of the Templars Efreat points out as you enter the room. A statue of him is standing along the wall of this room, a warrior with its face marred by what looks to be numerous blows from an axe as well as his arms as if someone tried to hack them off. About to leave this room as the statue is the only thing of interest here unless one wanted to take time to scrape all of the gold off the walls, a secret door is found behind the statue and a set of stairs leading down into what would be the monasteries undercrypt. Desending into the bowels of the monastery you find yourselves in a enormous chamber that once served as a laboratory. Against the north and south walls are two identical daises raised about five feet from the laboratory floor, each accessed by a wide set of curved stairs. Atop each dais is a wide workbench covered in a bewildering series of beakers, tubes, alembics, athanors and other alchemical tools. some of these containers are filled with a murky green substance. A massive mold-encrusted basalt table dominates the entrance of the room, flanked by two small tables to the east and west containing surgical tools and sheaves of old parchment. The walls of the subterranean lab were clearly fashioned from the living rock under the monastery, but carefully cut mold-encrusted tiles line the floor, interupted occasionally by mental drains the size of dinner plates. As you move further into the room some of you think you see the liquid quiver ever so slightly contained in the glassware and jump back as the liquid jumps out at all of you. The liquids look like sloppy , near-liquidfied plant matter festooned with tiny mushrooms and patches of sickly green and mustard hued mold..........

Spoiler:
Roll Init, state actions and roll some dice. You are not surprised! Efreat, you gain a +4 on making knowledge checks related to geniekind for reading the book!

Almost knocking over their payment Thelix steps back a bit red in the face as the Field Marshal smiles at him and then Sarastal. Here she points to the large coin pouch on her desk is a further reward for your help, five hundred gold coins plus I imagine you have the coins from what I gave you earlier to bribe with and any of Devargo's trinkets you collected should be enough but I am very happy with your success for going above and beyond in Korvosa's service so here is a pseudodragon's mark, a medal telling everyone you have served the crown and Korvosa well! She sits back down as the words of her last statement leave her mouth. For the moment I do not have any work for you at this time but unrest remains in the air and I will undoubtly be contacting you all real soon. Please take some time to yourselves and rest up, eat some good food, drink many strong drinks and spend your hard earned coins, I will be in touch! With that she dismisses you to your own pleasures.....

Outside you all stand there looking at each other with smiles on your faces and pockets bulging, now to decide how to spend it.....

Spoiler:
Each medal is worth 400 gp! Day of rest, what do you do? Do you research the items found? Go buy things? Sleep? Eat? Let me know, I will work on XP to see where we are at presently!

The chamber imediately turns to chaos as the two sides quickly engage one another. Mirni proves to be the quickest as she launches an arrow at the goblin but it sails mear inches over its head disappearing into the briars. Her own Fire Pelt friend has better luck though as it uses the arrows distraction to race around and take a big chop into the goblin's leg. It hangs on trying to make the goblin loose its balance and fall to the chamber floor but some how the goblin is able to shake off the cat's attack and stay standing. A shimmering ray of light slams into the goblin just as it finishes with the cat causing its eyes to be slightly blinded for a moment, it shakes its head to try and get rid of the effect as colors keep cascading in front of its eyes. Without much thought the goblin brings down its flaming scimitar down on the fire pelt drawing blood and singes some of the fur around the wound! At the back of the group with wand raised Roine waits for the goblin who he knows is a caster of magic to begin a spell but the goblin seems to busy at the moment to even get a spell off. The goblin's Fire Pelt races forward and pounces on the raging elf who is also racing forward. They meet in the center of the chamber in a big crash each doing damage to the other as they fight one another. Talam seeing his chance while everyone is distracted to sneak up to the goblin and sink one of his sickles into goblin flesh. A smile appears as his wish has been granted as blood spurts out from a new wound on the goblin's leg.

Spoiler:
Next round! State your actions and roll your attacks! Blackleaf take 4 hps damage and Mirni's Fire Pelt takes 6 hps damage! Init order-Mirni and her cat, Ebenezer, Goblin, Roine, Goblin Fire Pelt, Blackleaf and Talam!

Charsis stands at the door into Smeed's room with a smile of satisfaction on his face at another door being smashed in. From behind he is joined by the others who peer in the room also but Smeed is not to be seen. The last to follow is Vee as she takes her time searching the place for any possible hiding places Smeed might have used to throw them off his trail. She does a good job is quite sure he is in the room where her mates now stand. Even with all of the mess in this room there are not really any places to hide for the man. Taking a step further into the room reveals another door on the same wall they are standing towards the front of the town home. Its closed of course, so this might be where Smeed is but the bed or the table covered in clothing might also hide your prey.......

Out of the darkness enters black knights with weapons raised at the sight of a foreign elf standing at the entrance to the small room opposite them. Its hard to tell through their visored helmets that they notice all of you or the grins on their faces at finally finding their prey but their actions speak louder than anything else. The front knight splashes futher into the room to let his fellow mates into it as well. The three of them slowly advance towards Wuglat and Shadow Blade, You going to come quietly or am I going to bash some heads traitorous scum! Talam and Ebenezer thinking the best course of action is to back away from the growling large cat hear off to the side Mirni whisper that the cat is called a Fire Pelt, in the family of cougers. Ebenezer peers into the darkness at the eyes watching them, they seem familiar to him, like....and then the eyes form around a body of a wild looking goblin wearing leather armour cover slightly by a fine cloak, a three foot long blazing beam of red hot fire in the shape of a scimitar in one hand and an empty vial in the other.
