Yeah thought I was done for for a while there, thanks to everyone for the support! And to DMK again, of course.

Zlata attacks again.

Scythe, smite, PA: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 16 for: 2d4 + 6 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 + 4 + 6 = 21

Still having no better options against the 20-feet-in-the-air enemy, Zlata fires off another arrow.

Which goes nowhere near her target.

Seeing the unnatural creature suspended in the air, Zlata calls for divine aid in attacking it. Swift action: smite evil. Drawing Erastil's favoured weapon, she shoots an arrow at the abomination.

I'll take Grim's original roll for the potion effect. 1 HP and awake again!

Zlata regains consciousness as the potion dribbles down her throat. Coughing up the last drops of potion along with a copious quantity of blood, she tries again to seal the worst of her wounds.

Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 on self as swift action

Standing, she is surprised to find herself surrounded by stone, and stumbles toward the opening to take stock of the situation.

Will: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 1 = 26

Zlata's mind stays unaffected... so she feels it clearly when Pitbull strikes her, reopening her wounds and dropping her to the ground, insensible.

Aaannnd down again: -9 HP, 4 away from death. Still got that potion in hand, huh Grim? >.>

Zlata's still conscious until the end of her turn. The action economy on using a potion doesn't look like it'll work out, so she'll go ahead and use her standard for the Channel Positive - any of the monks still up at that time will get the heal too but Asbo and Anaristiel's rolls above look like that's not going to make a difference! Everyone but Mogall and Fianna should get it too. I'm assuming that as a "pile of entrails" Jujanil is undead and won't be healed...

Channel Positive: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

5 HP and remains conscious!

Zlata uses the last of her fading consciousness to call upon Erastil for aid, and feels his energy flow through and around her. Her wounds miraculously close and she stands straight once again.

Consciousness fading, Zlata puts a hand to her wound and tries to magically staunch the bleeding.

Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3

Well that is not better than average. -5 HP

So I'm not sure how the order of actions is going to play out here. Grim's turn is technically before Zlata's, so her orc ferocity means she's not yet unconscious for him to administer a potion to, even if he can retrieve and administer in a turn. Could Grim use his action to hand the potion to Zlata and then she can use her standard to drink it (and I'll take his roll above, bringing her to 5 hp)? Otherwise she'd need to channel, which might bring her back above 0 at the cost of also healing the monks.

Hooo boy, buckle up, this is going to get rough...

Grimaldus manages a shocking blow on Zlata, and the paladin begins to lose consciousness.

-8 HP, 5 away from death.
Orc Ferocity (Ex): Once per day, when a half-orc is brought below 0 hit points, but not killed, he can fight on for one more round as if disabled.

She manages to stay on her feet for a few more seconds, but her legs are clearly about to give out and she is bleeding profusely.

So I'll have to wait to see what the bad guys do, but as it stands on my next initiative turn I'll probably have to lay on hands self as swift, and if I don't roll better than average on that channel positive as standard, which would also heal the monks since I don't have selective channel yet. All of which is assuming I live that long!

Zlata repositions slightly to the side of the monk, and attacks again.

Zlata charges one of the monks harassing Fianna!

Zlata, not being experienced with these kinds of puzzles, watches on as the others work.

Zlata nods agreement with Skarn. "And after that last mess, I'd really like to hit something."

Once she finishes retching, Zlata joins in the questioning of the girl. "And what do you know about Lord Mata's..." Zlata searches for the right phrase, "sudden aggressiveness? When we met him previously he seemed harmless enough, but he nearly killed one of us." And I'll be tasting that cloud for weeks.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Zlata groans in a mixture of nausea and frustration, as she sees the wizard wink back to the very place she just moved away from. Oh, for Erastil's sake...

Not wanting to stay in the cloud any longer, she decided to take the low road and heads down the stairs.

Zlata continues to fight her way through the malodorous miasma, reaching the edge of the cloud at the top of the stairs.

Zlata staggers through the cloud toward the fight. Single move action only

Er, right, sorry. In that case:

Zlata takes the long way around, holding her breath as she plunges into the cloud,

but the stink still gets in her nostrils and she feels her gorge rising.

Escape Artist: 1d20 - 6 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (20) - 6 + 12 + 2 = 28 going to assume that succeeds, since... well, not going to be able to do any better!

Finally escaping from the carpet's clutches, Zlata approaches Mata with a menacing look on her face, brandishing her weapon threateningly. (double move)

Zlata just manages to retain her footing on the slippery surface.

Chuckling at Mogall's pun, Zlata double moves towards Mata Ryuu, but having to avoid the slippery area of floor means she doesn't quite get into reach.

"Definitely something not right here," Zlata agrees, readying her scythe as she follows the others up the stairs.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Zlata also recognises the symbol, and though she is not normally stingy with her coin, she flatly refuses to make an offering. "Evil must be paid in steel, not gold," she growls.

Zlata examines the remains; is this the yeti's handiwork (clawiwork?), or something else?

Zlata moves across the bridge as quickly as she is able (double move), and readies her scythe, but is unable to quite engage with the creature yet.

"Sounds like Ryuu and Jujanil were definitely up to no good, if they were in league with Fumeiyoshi." Zlata shared what she knows of this Lord of Envy (read K(rel) spoilers above), and concludes, "Urgh, there's going to be undead, isn't there? I hate undead."

"Ah, that explains those black-clad attackers, then," Zlata replies to Shiori, "we had wondered."

Turning to the Daimyo's niece, she asks, "What say you, Lady Mata, will you allow us to help your ancestor?"

Seeing the image that appears in the candle's flame, she gasps, "Was... was that supposed to happen?"
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

At Mogall's suspicion, Zlata peers closely at Mata, trying to determine if there is any trace of evil in his aura, or emanating from some object on his person. Detect evil, and expanding the search to other people and objects in the area if there's nothing on him.

"It is an honour to be among your people, Lord Mata," Zlata replies, "and indeed to meet a man of such experience and wisdom as yourself. If I might beg a moment of your time..." she tries to put the Pathfinders' case to the elder.

"I am heartened to visit with others who revere their ancestors as I do," Zlata says. After a slightly uncomfortable pause, she continues, "If I may be so bold, we were hoping to pay our respects to a particular ancestor of yours, one Haraka Sorin. I understand he fought alongside Malash, and he was a... dear friend of a colleague of ours."

When it seems like an appropriate time to tell her story, Zlata looks around the assembled celebrants, nervously fidgeting with her symbol of Erastil. "I am not certain I could be called noble, or honourable," she begins quietly, "and am perhaps more foolhardy than brave. My parents, and my parents' parents, and their parents before them, were all those things and more."

"In a land torn by war for generations, a land of deep anger, hatred and mistrust, they had the courage to refuse to fight. They carved out a place of peace, of sanctuary, of welcoming for peoples of both sides. Where orcs and humans lived and worked the land together, and became a community."

"It was often difficult - old prejudices run deep, even among a people committed to battling them, and they faced pressure from outsiders of both races, and their pacifism was hard-won and costly. It is for the sacrifices they made in pursuit of peace, and not the sacrifice of their lives, which was senseless and pointless, that I honour them, even as I fail to live up to their example," she concludes with a guilty glance at her well-used weapons.

Always a fan of a good local festival, Zlata asks a few locals what they're celebrating,

and relays the information she learns to the rest of the group.

"You are right, we are not angels, but flesh and blood," Zlata says to Yukaza, displaying her wounds to him as she heals them with her wand (Wand of Cure Light Wounds ×2: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16).

"Those, on the other hand," she continues, indicating the vanquished enemies, "were certainly daemons, and they will trouble you no more." Her expression softens as Arkar admits moving the cradle. "Both of you have acted to protect your people, and there can be no more honourable motivation. This artefact is in good hands among you," she tells them as they wait to see if anything further happens to the candle or cradle.

Zlata continues moving back, behind her companions, until she judges that there is enough space between her and the enemy, before holding up her holy symbol and calling forth the last of her divine energy.

Channel positive energy: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6, should hit everyone but the bad guy.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 oh dear; HP -7

Zlata takes the full force of yet another lightning attack, and very nearly loses consciousness, only her Orc heritage allowing her to call for diving healing once more before stumbling back towards he allies.

Sorry to leave you alone up there Grim. I have one channel positive available if I can get into a position to not be healing the bad guy as well.

Did Zlata's attack (posted before but occurring after Pitbull's) miss?

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 1 = 10

Still suffering the effects of the slow spell, Zlata isn't able to avoid the lightning attack, and takes another heavy shock. Calling for her deity's aid to heal herself (swift action: Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7), she recovers somewhat, taking yet another swing at the creature that blasted her before stepping towards the second daemon. Or stepping then attacking the second, if the first is already down.

Scythe, PA, smite, slowed: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 + 2 - 1 = 28 for: 2d4 + 6 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 + 6 + 4 = 21

Agreed, although with slow I can't get in range of the other and attack... I'll start moving in that direction and make my attack this round conditional on whether you take the first one down or not.

Zlata catches Pitbull's eye, and the two half-orcs seem to silently agree on a plan. She takes a 5' step to the left around the side of the first creature, towards the second, and

if the first Daemon still lives:

rakes he scythe along its hindquarters. Attack, roll per below with extra +2 to attack and +4 to damage and bypassing DR from smite.

Between the slowing effect of the creature's spell, and her own armour, Zlata only just manages to avoid the worst of the electrical blast, and still takes a heavy jolt. Stepping closer to the creature again, she swings her blade once more.

Zlata glances at her weapon of choice - she has done plenty of harvesting with it in her time - then shoots a dark look at Pitbull for her lack of compassion, though she grudgingly admits, "You might be right, true evil should be repelled by, not attracted to, a hallowed place."

Zlata is not familiar enough with the beliefs of these people to make much of the alter or murals, but suggests, "Perhaps the demons come to defile it, or because there is something here that they want. Though if something of the sort is their goal, they have apparently not yet been successful."

Shocked by the injuries done to this small community, Zlata tries to offer what aid she can to the worst of the wounded. As she does so, she tries to find out - both by examination of the wounds and questions direct and indirect - what befell the villiage.

Zlata nods as the man describes a soul in perfect balance - her deity also valuing balance, albeit the rather less esoteric balance of nature.

"That seems to make sense," she agrees with Mogall, "and the later incarnation would seem more likely to know something than the earlier."

Seeing her wayang companion collapse, Zlata gives a yelp, dropping her bow and rushing at the now-grounded blue ninja. As she closes the distance, she draws her scythe and swings it in one fluid movement.
