Zesh grew up in an orphanage within Geb; this is where she met and befriended Enzu. They were both alive and kids then. Enzu died trying to protect Zesh from an undead mob. She would have accepted his passing but when he refused to leave her, she created a magical bond with him so that he wouldn't/couldn't be turned undead.
