"Well if we get myself and Kells on each rope and then Darie, Khadath, Kessel and tobin fill in on each team we should be able to move this block no problem" Zereta grabs one of the ropes and pulls it taut.

Zereta waits patiently for Khadath to take the tube down while keeping an eye on Kessel. "you best hurry Kes, I am going last down this tube to guard our rear"

"Well I am of two minds, I think we should try and either climb the chain and see what up there...at least one of us should. As well I wonder if the sarcophogus is movable as it is an arrow mayhaps we could try and reposition the arrow...not sure how but it might work."

Zereta shrugs

Zereta smiles and places a hand on Kells shoulder "I am glad you are well friend, fear of yours and Tobin's death made my anger rise to the surface." Turns to her other friends and the latern "that looks like one of the lantern from the alcove painting"

Zereta stops raging and takes a knee while awaiting Kells healing.

Zereta crawls through and as she stands up on the other side she sees her friend being hurt. Her rightous wrath is too much to contain and she rages. and swings her sword at the snake attacking Kells

Zereta's Attack (1d20 4=6)

define tricky

How much room is back there Kayos? enough for a big barbarian like Zereta to swing her sword without decapitating her allies?

Zereta raises her sword above her head and waits.

Delaying her action

initiative (1d20 1=17)

Zereta stands within 5 ft of Kells sword at the ready just incase something should happen "Do you see anything Kells?"

Zereta moves along beside Kells keeping her sword at the ready while tobin search the fresco and then leads them up to the room with the sarcophagus. Zereta is so in awe of the workmanship of the room that she isn't listening too well Listen Check (1d20 4=7). She looks over at Kells after he mumbles and asks "What is wrong?"

Zereta rolls her eyes about the discussion between Darie and Kessel and then follows Kells and Tobin towards the green light and the strange hall it inhabits all the while clutching her sword tightly and scanning the area around her for any sign of danger.

Zereta keeps her sword ever at the ready as they move slowly ahead. Listening all the while to her friends talk about a young teenage girl and the constant sounds of the whispering, the whole thing seems slightly unsettling to Zereta but she holds steadfastly and continues forward keeping an eye out for any sign of danger.

Zereta draws her bastard sword and waits eagerly beside Kells while Tobin search the entrance of the cairn "I don't know about you Kells but I can't wait to see what going to happen" Zereta chuckles

"This 'Z' represents you just so you know," Kessel says, "I got to teach you how to read and write at least that much."

I just realized that all the women are illiterate

"Which one is a 'Z'? This one?" Zereta points at the 'D'

:P

Like Darie, Zereta stares at the symbols on the ground gaining no meaning from them "So what you saying is I am in front?" Zereta shrugs "Sounds good to me." Zereta picks up her pack and puts it on then stands up and rolls up her bedroll and tucks it away "Shall we leave then?"

Zereta sets up her bedroll and drops her backpack beside it and then goes back outside. When Kessel comes back she says "I'll take the first watch the rest of you get some sleep I will wake Kells up in a few hours to take the second watch the rest of you need to get enough rest before we set out in the morning."

Zereta looks the cottage over from the road and just shakes her head. "Well," she thinks "We got to start somewhere..." with that she goes inside and helps pick up some of the debris

Zereta picks up her pack and follows the party as they head for the mine house "it matters not to me where we sleep this eve but I will go with whatever the group votes"

Zereta chuckles "Kessel, my old friend were not exactly at the mouth of the cave. I would rather camp where we are that way we can keep an eye on the cairn's entrance tonight. You know to make sure the likes of Auric, Tirra and Khellek don't try and sneak up here while we sleep." shrugs "sides it is not exactly a quick walk back to the mine house, its a distance back as far as I remember, so lets just make camp here like Darie said, its not like there are ghouls and goblins about and even if they're were we would see them long before they showed up thats why I figured we would set watches anyways."

"I agree with Kells let us rest where we are, Kells you and I can go find some deadfall and the rest of you get settled and unpacked for the night when we get back I take first watch." Zereta says "Its best Darie, Khadath, Kessel and Jeny get rest this eve. Tobin, Kells and myself can keep watch and keep the fire going till morning. When morning comes we will continue on to the cairn. I suspect we will have a long day ahead of us tomorrow so get as much rest as possible." with that Zereta removes her pack and adjusts the strap of her bastard sword and scans the nearby woods for the most likely place to find some deadfall

taking a 10 on spot = 12

Zereta stands back watching, she shows no emotion on her face just remains stoic all the while unsure of this new "development". After a moment she shrugs. "Well Jeny it looks like a welcome is in order, if you would like to join us we are heading to the Whispering Cairn, we would be glad to add another to the party...."

sorry all for the silence yesterday was really busy

Zereta stops and stands beside Khadath "I have to agree with Khadath how long has it been since you seen it last? If we are close enough we might as well continue onto the cairn and at least have a look around the mouth of the cairn before finding shelter" Zereta shrugs "Either way it doesn't matter to me just point me in the direction of the evil beasties that pop up and I will chop them to bits with me sword" motions to her bastard sword.

I don't want to bring any of that up again so I'll try to start out on a better footing this morning. Darie, this is Yorick, Yorick this is Darie. I want the two of you to behave."

"A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy - he hath borne me on his back a thousand yards!" Tobin chimes in, supportively. "It seems you were right about the length of the journey, Darie. I'm sorry I didn't rise earlier - but the Land of Nod is such a marvellous place!" Tobin's eyelids droop, and he seems to nod off, swaying gently with Yorick's steady gait, before suddenly sitting up with a start and looking around, wide-eyed.

"Where was I? Oh, yes - I think there's a disused mine somewhere near here. It'd have some abandoned buildings we could use for shelter, instead of trekking back and forth to town, attracting crowds. Though some of us might like that, I suppose." Tobin smiles broadly. "It's probably better than camping near that haunted cairn, too. What do you say? Shall we seek out the mine buildings before it gets dark, and then head to the cairn in the morning?"

"Sounds good to me Tobin" Zereta looks around "Any idea in which direction it is?"

Zereta wakes up the next morning an hour before sunrise and packs all her gear. After a quick bite to eat and a goodbye to her father she leaves her house and heads back to the Happy Cow to meet up with her new friends.

"Thanks Khadath," thinks a minute "I have chalk, flint and steel, 2 torches, 2 days of trail rations, and 50 ft of silk rope around the house that I can grab and I will leave and grab a bedroll, a few sunrods and another day worth of rations on the way home...oh and Kessel bring your mule. Well all the hour is late I shall see you in the morning here, I have to stop and grab a few things on the way home" gets up and head for the door.

For Kayotic DM

Spoiler:

On the way home Zereta stops in the market to buy 4 sunrods, 2 more days of rations and a bedroll.

Zereta just sits in silence listening to the exchange between Darie and Kessel shaking her head all the while. "You know you two this is conversation leading nowhere fast. How about we just take a group vote.
All those who want to go with what we got on our person and at our houses say 'Aye', all who feel we should go on a shopping spree say 'Nay'"

Chuckles at Kells comments and then listen as Kessel continues to run his mouth, when Kessel finally stops prattling off senseless things we don't need Zereta speaks right after Darie. "You done now Kessel? good well if you would like to offer up your services as our personal pack mule and also supply all the gold for all that stuff then go right on ahead and buy it all, I for one like Kells here," elbows him back as hard as possible "Have a few of the items you prattled off at my house how about we just all promise to bring what we got and each make sure we bring rations or food or what have you and we should be just fine. Anything else we can get as we need it. Sound good everyone?"

Hardly believing her ears, Darie nevertheless knew a chance when she saw it "Tomorrow, an hour before sunrise, then? It gives us plenty of time for a last nights rest, and the trip."

"Aye, that sounds like a plan to me" downs her new mug in one long pull and then slams the mug down "then it is agreed unless Khadath or Kessel have any issue, tomorrow at sunrise we begin our careers as adventurers!"

"Aye, the Whispering Cairn sounds like fun, strange sounds you say...like ghosts?" her eyes get an excited gleam to them " Sounds like fun. "

Auric however stays seated a little while longer. Either way I will leave you to discuss it, just leave a message with the bar staff if you need to contact me, Tirra or Khellek, the message will get to us." He tells the collected individuals before following Tirra out of the inn.

Zereta waits until Auric is out the door before leaning over to Kessel, and asking "Remind friend Kessel, remind me which one is Stirgenest? it sounds familiar but I can't quite place it." downs the last of her mug and hands it to Khadath as he heads for the bar "I have another too.."

Kells laughs and leans down closer to Tobin to "whisper" in a voice that carries clearly across the table. "And sometimes you need to treat a lady with delicacy and courtesy, and sometimes you use a warhammer. Deflate 'em a little bit... sails, lungs, whichever, just take some of the hot air out."

He shakes his head, chuckling "No, I was there to exploit the opening you left, but I had misread you, though. I thought you were going to swing to the lower than you did and I almost stepped into it. So there was some luck involved. That's why I love sparring though... learning to read an opponent better. Next time it may well be me on my butt in the dust with the shiner on my ribs or a goose-egg on my forehead. But, better to take you lumps from you friends in practice than from you rival in battle, eh?"

He holds out his mug for another clink against Zereta's.

Zereta chuckles and clinks her mug against Kells "Most definitely."

I mean, ok, i broke Dorik Gangathers nose when he tried getting funny with me, but that is about my whole claim to brawling fame."

"Look hun every once and awhile you got to knock men down a notch and sometimes you let them when" smiles and then takes a sip of her ale.

"Yeah you missed and no I didn't fall over I let him win..." Zereta smiles

Assuming that Darie is talking about the private sparing match between Auric and our too PCs:

"Yes," Kessel says, "it would no doubt be fun to watch Zereta get her clock cleaned for once. Every time I've seen her fight it's been from the bottom looking up."

"I wouldn't put too much money on someone else winning Kessel, this battle with Kells was a fluke, " smiles at Kells as she says the last bit jokingly "I almost always win..."

Kells raises one of the mugs off of the tray and holds it up to clink against Zereta's "To many more skirmishes and rounds of refreshment following." Then drinks a deep pull. "Let's return to our companions. I just wanted some distance where I could sniff them out in my own way."

Kells heads to the table and sets out fresh mugs for everyone. "Well, Auric, if you aren't engaged in exploration one of these days, perhaps you can join Zereta and I in some sparring down by the river. Personally, I would love the opportunity to learn some combat tricks and tactics from a standing Champion!"

"Agreed," clinks her mug against kells, then takes a drink. Zereta moves back over to the table and sits smiles at Auric and his elven friend. "Enjoy, drinks our on me."

Kells shrugs at Zereta's question "They themselves are not evil, but I can't acertain thier agenda or honesty. Auric seems

congenial enough and the girl is a bit cagey. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. I think he might be a little sweet on Darie. Which could be very beneficial if he is less cagey than his friend there."

I tried a Sense Motive for Auric and got an 11...

"Well between you and I, lets keep our eyes and ears open cause I am not sure what to think of this muscled man...he is kinda cute but all this talk of raiding local burial cairns doesn't sit right with me...seems like their only here to exploit our town..." Zereta glances over at the group again as her mug is refilled. She looks at Kells "You, I think I can trust...anyone who will stands and fights against me and then offers a hand of friendship and an ale to boot, will get my friendship in return..." Zereta smiles as she pays the bartender for the current round of drinks.

Zereta observes silently as she continues to down her ale. A smile comes to her face when kells heads to the bar to get more ale, she makes a mental note to get the next few rounds of ale. She then stands up and moves over to the bar beside kells feigning the need for another ale. She briefly glances back towards the group before turning away and whispers to Kells "So what do you think of our two interesting visitors?"

Zereta chuckles at tobin frankness towards the muscled man. And then looks to Kells "I think its my round of ale to buy" waves over the maid "Another round for my friends and bring me some of the food your bringing Tobin...oh and while your at it get an ale for the warrior" points at muscled warrior. "Join us would like," Zereta smiles at the warrior "By the way we haven't been properly introduced I am Zereta Bludwulf and you are?"

Zereta smiles when she see the muscled warrior walk in and wonders who he smiling at..."must be checking me out" she thinks to herself and with that she smiles more. When ale is brought over by the barmaid Zereta quickly begins to drink it down. "Ah to be surround by friend both new and old..." she says mostly to herself as she looks around the assemble group...

hey guys I need to get some sleep badly in RL so I won't be posting till later this evening so just assume Zereta is drink lots of ale till then ;P

After a long afternoon picking up supplies at the market for her father and working an hour or so at the forge, Zereta comes walking into the Happy Cow. Zereta looks around as she enters to find the table everyone is sitting at and takes a seat.
"Evening all, sorry for being a little late," She waves the waitress over and orders an ale "Shall we order food or just drink?" she says to everyone assembled around the table.

"..and as loser I have the third and fourth round of drinks....and if I am not to drunk by that point the fifth round..." Zereta sticks her hand out to you in gesture of friendship "Well met Kells, and I will see you at the Happy Cow."

unless anyone else has any objections/other needs we can just fast forward to the happy cow

"Just sore from Kells slap to my ribs" lifts her studded leather halter enough to look at the spot she was struck..."Yep just a bruise" chuckles.

Zereta lets out a groan of pain and takes a knee, trying to catch her breath that has been knocked out of her. "Well friend Kells looks like I am not quite what I thought I was...I will accept this defeat but I would ask that you accept an invitation to a dinner with my friends and myself this eve at the Happy Cow. What say you?" Zereta stands up and rubs her injured ribs knowing this will hurt in the morning and that she will definitely have a bruise.

Zereta finishes prep by wrapping her sword in cloth and then begins to circle Kells

After Kells finishes his dealings with the Guildhouse, he returns to his room at the inn, dons his armor, and heads down to the riverside to wait for Zereta.

I was unspecific on what inn Kells was staying at. If you would like to make it the Happy Cow, I'm fine with that

Zereta bids everyone a quick goodbye with promise to see everyone these evening at the Happy Cow. Then moves off along the street towards the riverbank. Eventually she arrives to find Kells waiting for her "So you showed up I was wondering whether you would", zereta chuckles "So how do you want to do this? To first blood? To the death? To the pain?" yes I just made princess bride reference :p "shall we wrap our swords in cloth? I leave the terms to you...just be ready to find your self wanting." Zereta grins as she removes her sword from her back and removes her cloak and extra gear from her person in preperation for the fateful battle to come.

After all these festivities are over? Name a place someone and we'll all gather there!"

"Aye, I am sure there is a law somewhere that says as much Kessel, and I like the idea......how about the Happy Cow? heard its an interesting place..." Zereta says "if that is good with everyone, I will take my leave as I have a meeting with a man who thinks I tire too easily" Zereta looks towards the riverbank before looking up at the sun to gage how much time she has before the fateful meeting.
