Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Zavac will run up towards the horse, drawing his weapons as he goes.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

...ya know, for someone who plays a life oracle IRL, I keep forgetting about bless...not that it really mattered this turn, but still.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

STATS:

Round 2, 10/12 HP, 17 AC

As Zavac defends the Cathedral, he looks around to see if there are more Goblins on the way.

perception:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

After watching the Goblins run in the other direction, Zavac decides to help out the man in front of him. He rushes towards the ugly female goblin, slashing at her with his longsword.

Actions:

Move 10 feet, attack on Goblin B
LS - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Damage - 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
LS crit confirmation 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
LS crit damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

STATS:

Round 1, 10/12 HP, 18 AC

Zavac notes the three formidable men rush forward to meet the Goblins face on. As much as he would like to smear their blood along his blades, he decides to go for a more tactical route. Rushing towards the entrance of the new Cathedral, he readies only his Longsword in anticipation of an attack.
ACTIONS:

Zavac will move 20 feet to guard the entrance of the Cathedral, readying an attack if a Goblin comes by.

Silver Crusade

Not a problem. ^.^

As for replacing, I wouldn't mind trying a Bard out....then again, I'm kind of really liking playing Zavac...he's a bit of a douche, but that leaves a lot of character growth.

Alas, bed is calling. I'll post Zavac's actions when I wake up.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

I'm happy with the way the maps are turning out. They look rather good, IMO. Also, in your post, you have Zavac down twice...think you need to replace the second one with Qualin.

The CR shouldn't be a big deal at all. We are a good team thus far...also, on that note, how are we going to deal with PC death if we come across it?

I have no knowledge of NwN...really wanna try it out, though. Good luck!

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Shaking his head, "That, I have no idea. I did have a run-in with them on my way to town, though. Killed my poor Star."

Glancing around, he notes more Goblins harassing the civilians. "Looks like we have more of 'em to dispose of," sneering. Back to the group around the recovering young woman, "You all seem capable. What say we stick together and get rid of the vermin together?"

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

As Zavac is cleaning the blood off his blades, he notices the two warriors beside the poor girl. He's a bit of a crazy Elf, but even so, he feels pity towards her.

"I wish I could help her," he mumbles, thinking of his horse. Apparently the Loremasters were right...I'm only good for killing things. Glancing around, he tries to spot the old man who looked like a priest. Damn, he's gone. And the Goblins are blocking the way to the Temple. Blasted creatures.

PERCEPTION:
To see if Zavac had noticed the heal he received had come from Boiko
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Going towards the human man, who looked pale as a ghost, he tries to snap him out of his odd expression. "You're a healer. I felt it, earlier. That rush of power." Pointing towards the injured woman, "Quickly, man, this woman needs you!"

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Ok, I shall throw up my action for round 2. Stupid goblins...I can hold my own against a lvl 4 Fighter, but not a CR1/2 Goblin. Hahaha...

STATS:

Round 2, HP 8/12, AC: 18

With his attempt to gut the Goblin nullified, and then returned with pinpoint accuracy, Zavac lets out a howl in Goblin, "Nasty creature, you die NOW!"

ACTIONS:

Yelling as free action, Regular Attack vs. Goblin I, Starts using Buckler
LS - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
CRIT!
Confirmation roll - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Crit Damage - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Zavac laughs manically, swinging his longsword savagely at the creature.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Alrighty. I also second Akrem's suggestion, if we're all on board.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Really sorry if ppl were waiting for me to post, just got outta class. On that note, Twigs, you wanting us to post as per the init order, oooor....?

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

STATS:
Round 1, 12/12HP, AC: 17 (no buckler)

Sneering at the goblin blood now glistening on his blade, Zavac takes a step up and to the *right*, going for a duel-slice at the one who attacked him prior as he moves.

5-foot-step + full-round attack at goblin I
LS - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
SW - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Damage - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Wow...he was a 4th lvl? I think we have a great group! I shall hold the lines, as a good Guardian should. ;)

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Zavac's attention is drawn by something in the corner of his eye. Noting a Goblin, and the beginnings of the familiar song, he is eager to repay the debt owed. Cursed creatures, destroying my horse.

Surprise Round
Zavac will run at twice his speed to get as close to the goblin as possible, drawing both weapons as part of his move action.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

After the duel, Zavac goes for a bite to eat. He then spends the rest of the afternoon in solitude, by the river. Once the sounds start to slow down and the sky begins to darken, he joins the crowds by square. The butterflies fluttering past him darkens his mood, bitterness seeping back in, his scowl back on like a mask.

Interesting use of the butterflies. Too bad Desna has apparently all but forsaken me...she really does have the most beautiful representation. Damn the Loremasters...all those years, and for what? Desna's approval? Hardly...more like their own ends.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Have to say, nice use of the Tarot, Twigs.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Gladly accepting the potions, Zavac nods. "Thank'ye, Sheriff, Hannah. Unfortunately, I'm here to meet someone. Mayhaps after my prior engagement is complete, I may take you up on that offer."

Flicking a gold coin to Hannah, and a wink to the Sheriff, he takes his leave. An enticing offer, certainly. There's not many elves here, he said. Another boon.

Yep, I am. Ended up being only at 1hp, hence why he was so... erratic with his attacks.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

...and I shall apologize for hogging the action. Didn't think it would be that long. On with the show!

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

yah, I was thinking the same thing...it's fairly evenly matched, which would be nice IF I was the only character. Here's my solution:

Zavac throws down his remaining weapon whilst leaping back. Bowing to the imposing man before him, he yells to the crowd, "Your Sheriff is a fine fighter. Be proud to have him guarding you all. I shall withhold further shame, and present your winner."

Zavac nods again to the man, then swiftly retrieves his weapons, turns to exit, and begins his search for a place for food. And a drink. I hope they have something fruity here.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Zavac drops his shortsword, clutches at the man with a sneer, and attempts his own grab and trip.

Trip -1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

I feel like I'm kinda hogging the spotlight...

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 / 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Still dazed from the hit to his head, Zavac swings wildly with both swords in frustration. I can't let him win this.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Blow for blow, they were evenly matched. Zavac was having the time of his life, finally finding a worthy adversary.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

A rush from the crowd; the piercing feeling of a hundred eyes; blow after blow, he lets his natural instincts take over.

"I've not had such a challenge as this for quite a time, young one," he yells between breaths.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 (nonlethal)

wow...this is quite the duel.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Wincing from the near-trip, Zavac decides to play it safe. He opts for using simply his longsword, trading in his second attack in favor of the buckler he has strapped on his arm.

(longsword) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 (damage) 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

"Lucky bugger," he grunts under his breath. This guy's good.

AC is now 18

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

After that sorry lot, this seems more like a joke than anything.

"I'll try to be nice, but it won't be my fault if you fall on my blade," he says to the sheriff. Ready for the large man, he narrowly moves out of the way. Better, then his counter.

(longsword)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 (damage) 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
(shortsword) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 (damage) 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

"You're a quick one, I'll give you that."

My longsword didn't hit, so the shortsword never got to roll my awful natural 1? AC is 17 for now.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

After easily blocking the clumsy assault, Zavac turns and attacks with both swords.

(longsword)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
(shortsword)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

He would have easily hit with both, but a shout from the crowd in Elvish caught him by surprise, throwing his shortsword wide.

Do I need to roll for damage, or is it simply three-hits-your-out? (AC is now 17)

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Zavac nods at the bald Sheriff, and hands him three golden coins. "Sounds easy enough. Simple rules, simple victory. Name's Zavac."

He stands back, eyeing up those to be his competition. We'll see how well they fight against a Guardian of Arsmeril. Throwing up a swift prayer to whatever Deity may happen to hear, his bitterness is temporarily dulled as he anticipates the fight.

Swiftness, precision, and luck be on my side. Honor be to myself, apart yet strong. He changes the wording of his personal prayer, no longer wishing honor upon his people.

I don't mind Twigs just quickly going over what happens during the duel if people want to get underway.

It doesn't matter to me. I'll be off soon to bed, though, as my first class is tomorrow morning. (why I insisted on taking a morning class, I'll never know...)

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Haha, I should have expected that. Nice link, btw.

Zavac shruggs. There's far too many here, I'll never find 'em. Blasted Loremasters. Being hardly interested in what the speakers were droning on about, might as well see what else there is to do.

He turns, heading towards the Garrison from where ringing of steel upon steel emanates. Upon entering the area, a rare smile shines forth. Now this is more like it. His hands went to rest on the pommels of his swords, whilst a glint entered his eye as he watched the dueling combatants. He searches for the one in charge, easily locates the person, nimbly navigates through the crowd, and puts forth a blunt greeting.

"Hail. What's needed to enter?

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Question:

Are we supposed to be trying to get the group in the same area?

Hope it went well. Give us the scoop in themorning. :)

It went well! They started a gauntlet, in a tree...yes, a tree. They had to find this mysterious character named Bronze that they've been trying to find/defeat since the beginning. They faced a LOT of traps, not all of them obvious...the poor rogue got poisoned thrice, and almost died once he started taking damage from it. They also faced a few groups of monsters and NPC enemies: Cannibals (weird RP here), a group of ranged rogues with a Conjurer, a couple Basalisks (with three of the party turning to stone, luckily the druid wasn't one of them and knew of the cure), and a horde of wind and water elementals.

They finally found this Bronze, and was faced with a little girl. She tried to convince them that the Deities had imprisoned her inside this tree, which had magically made her powers weaken. They didn't believe her, naturally, and shot an arrow at her head, which missed. She smiled, walked slowly towards them, and turned into a Bronze Dragon. The healer, who is DEATHLY afraid of Dragons, ran away....but, they managed to defeat it with two PC's falling unconscious.

They got a huge amount of loot, and then the Healer came back with the NPC who was trying to help them out. The two of them started laughing, and the party became paralized. (they had rings of power on from the NPC, and this controlled the paralysis.)

The party found out that their healer and the NPC were manipulation them the entire time, and killing the Dragon was part of their plan to help the Deities out. The party was transported into another plane, I believe it's an alternate reality type thing, and can't get back as the rings are holding them there.

The healer is now taking up DMing the group, and I'll be playing....it was a lot of fun!

Silver Crusade

Colors. Colors everywhere. If it wasn't for all the humans running around, he could almost imagine himself back at Crying Leaf. Almost.

Zavac looked around the crowd, wondering how he would ever find his contact. Why would they send me here, knowing that such an event was to be taking place? Is it another jab at my pride? Of course it is. Bitterness upon bitterness growing within, he stalks through the crowd until he reaches a large group that had gathered in the square. He listens absentmindedly to the speakers, eyes ever vigilant, trying to see if he notes anyone fitting the description. (perception, taking 10)

Did I manage to catch anything that the Goblins said whilst attacking me? Zavac speaks Goblin. Perhaps I can use knowledge gleaned from that experience, to talk to a guard or some other NPC.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Awesome! I just finished up my DMing, so I shall post in the morning. Very wiped out from 9hrs of play.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Happy New Years, all! I'm still 6 hours away, though.

Can't wait to start up!

PS - I'm having my last day as DM over my IRL campaign tomorrow, so I may not have a lot of time to post. I'll do what I can.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

I usually do saving throws for the characters in my IRL games, so I'm down. Makes the game a bit more reactive/realistic.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

I second that. It would be easier, for you, I think, to just keep track of it and tell us when we ding. Unless you're wanting to award "bonus" exp individually, then, for your sake, it would be easier if we did it ourselves. /endtwocents

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Fair enough, Master DM. heh. I shall keep Zavac as he is. Also, should letcha know, I'm away from home for the holidays, and I'll be traveling back on the 30th. When are you planning on getting this thing rolling? (sorry if you've mentioned it before)

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Not having a rogue in a party this size would not be a good move on our part, at least if we're wanting to max out what the party can do, simply for the traps. I ran a 5-man group with no rogue, and they got pwnd by just about every trap, magical or not, so I'd say stick with the rogue. If we're really wanting a bard, I'll go ahead and set it up to crossclass next level as a battle-bard. I'm not sure how trap-heavy this campaign is going to be, though, so we might be fine without a rogue. I'll leave the call up to Qualin, and do whatever needs to be done on my side. Akrem will gain access to heal spells, but not until 7th lvl.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

For me, I think it would make for interesting character development on my part. A cast-out Elf, who's cold to the world, slowly becoming immersed in open-mindedness and acceptance. I might switch to Half-Elf, too, just to make the cast-out feel even more so (and to get multiclass). But if you, Qualin, would rather roll a bard, that's fine by me. We WOULD lose our Rogue, though. I'm not over opposed to losing a Rogue in favor of getting more heals, but traps may be a bit of a problem.

My only issue about changing my character concept is that I would feel that I jipped Lohrgan of his original character design. Aside from that, I'm down for a change.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

That's a good point, Lohrgan. I could multiclass into Bard for the EKnight, bumping up my Cha and taking cure spells along the way for emergencies, and simultaneously becoming the "face". I could go Sing rather than an instrument, just to make use of my TWF. (as ya'll can see, I'm willing to change my character around for the betterment of the group if need be) Thoughts?

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

True enough. Just want to set my character up for a prestige class if that's the route I'm wanting to take him in. For now, I'm just gunna stick with the TWF Fighter. Mostly wanted to get a feel for what others thought.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Hmm...well, if I do, it'll probably be Wizard, as my Cha is crap. And defiantly going Gish-style, magic concentrating on self-buffs, maybe with a couple blast thrown in for fun. And if I do, then I guess I could go Sorc. It's not like I'll need the DC saves. The only problem with EKnight is dedicating the next 5lvls to *enter caster here*...then again, I think it'll be fun. (I'm so indecisive when creating characters...)

EDIT: @ Valeria: alrighty. sounds like there'll be some interesting dialogue between the two characters.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

All these Humans...my Elf is gunna find this interesting. Heh.

Anyway, I updated my character. Added his background, personality, and appearance. Was thinking of going for the Eldritch Knight, but it looks like we have enough casters, especially if Qualin's picking it up, too. What does everyone think? I'd like to give it a try, but I don't wanna be stepping on anyone's toes, or depriving us of a full-melee character.

Also, in case ya missed it earlier, Twigs, Flickr account is Zavac.

EDIT: @ Valeria: What's your character's background? Zavac has developed a harsh view of the Elven race, so he'll either really like you for denying that aspect of your heritage, or really dislike you for embracing it. Just curious; trying to figure out group dynamics.

EDIT 2: On second thought, Eldritch Knight wouldn't fit my character's TWF very well, unless I spend a feat on Quick Draw. Think I'll just stick with Fighter.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Another question for ya, Twigs. Are we allowed to buy any of the equipment of Varisia as listed in the Player's Guide? I was looking through it, and the Klar would fit Zavac's style a bit more than a shortsword and buckler. It's essentially the same thing but combined. I'm also interested in a reinforced scarf. Lemme know whatcha think.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

I believe that it's the 15 point buy, but I just stuck with the elite array.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

Ok, I signed up with Flickr, just for you, Mr. DM. I have no idea how to use it, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. *enter originality here* My name on there is Zavac.

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Fighter 1

I think that I'm done, now. Ready to go!
