Description: Glossy chocolate skin. Half-shaved head with thick straight hair, swept to one side like an ebony cloud. Long elegant neck adorned with colorful stone necklaces. Petite slender frame that sways with sinuous grace. Dresses in vibrant blues and greens. Soft but penetrating voice that rises barely above an excited whisper.
Personality: Outgoing and gregarious, Yumbulika bubbles with quiet enthusiasm. She does her best to make the world a better place, even if her wild intrigues aren’t always appreciated.
Quirk/Flaw: Thanks to a recurring nightmare that is at best half-remembered, she can’t stand snakes. They are just eww.
Background: Born and raised in Nantambu as the youngest of six siblings, Yumbulika always tried to involve herself in the affairs of her brothers and sisters. The impressionable young girl was inspired by the Ten Magic Warriors, with their emphasis on service for the betterment of others. Helpful to a fault, Yumbulika’s active imagination is full of schemes to ‘improve’ the lives of other people (such as matching Oyamba’s niece with a goatherder, never mind her allergy to goats). Less charitable people view her as a meddlesome snoop.
When her magic was discovered, her parents brought her to Magaambya, to learn to control and harness her powers. Unfortunately Yumbulika was less than an ideal student, unable to sit still for longer than a few minutes, and was more interested in using her powers to ‘help’ others than learning how to expand or refine them. In the end, trial-and-error was her teacher. Currently she takes advantage of her naturally flexible body and performs as a contortionist.
