Appearance: The epicanthic folds of his eyes are the only features of his sunburned and bald head that gives a hint that Toranaga is not descended from the peoples of Varisia. Toranaga grins often if only to convey his confidence that he can handle anything world would throw at him.
Toranaga wears a bastard sword across his back, the hilt jutting behind his right shoulder to make it easy to draw; while his bright red travel clothes is covered by a fine set of mail.
Background:
Spoiler:
Yoshi Toranaga's family traces its roots to the country of Minkai. But they have since resettled in the free city of Magnimar to pursue a life unfettered by tradition. But the hustle and bustle of the trade did not appeal to Toranaga who always saw himself as someone destined for greater things. And in one of the old trunks in the attic of the family home, he discovered the old diary of his ancestor and namesake, Yoshi Toranaga. In it was written, the instructions for a fighting style completely unheard of in Varisia. So began, Toranaga's training, which did not came easy as he had to steel away time for training while helping the family business. His father, Yoshi Oda, discovered him one day and gave Toranaga a choice to: stop his so-called foolishness and devote himself completely to the family business or be disinherited and cast out of the family. Defiantly, Toranaga stood his ground and said, "Take your riches. I have no need for them. I leave and I take my name with me. Our great ancestor made it a name to be respected if not feared. I shall do so again." Without a second glance and with only his ancestor's diary and the clothes on his back, Toranaga left the house he has lived in for most of his life.
He has since then carved a life for himself as a mercenary, albeit, one who was honorable and a stickler for the letter of his commitment. He does not slay those who ask for mercy nor does he sully his hands with torture. He prefers to meet his opponents sword to sword.
