Hello Hivemind :)

I've posted before about a small group (best mate and his 15yr old daughter) who I dm for. We play very infrequently due to his shifts and her school work but so far we've had great fun.

I want to start looking at integrating the Pathfinder Society but as a duo they are a bit 'grey' when it comes to following the law, rules etc. They aren't evil but then not totally good so was wondering, how does that fit in with the PFS outlook?

Also I was looking at running the 2 linked adventures in Kaer Maga 'The Shadow Gambit' and 'The Twofold Demise' but from a neutral standpoint ie my plans were:

- They are part of the Freeman who have become suspicious of Pathfinder/Shadow Lodge activity in Kaer maga

- They have intercepted the group sent to Kaer Maga and agreed to help them by investigating the letter for them as they have 'better contacts'.

So essentially I'll be running the 2 adventures but the characters won't be part of the Pathfinder Society, in addition I will let them choose if they decide to help the PFS or side with the Shadow Lodge.

Is that feasible/a good approach or am I misunderstanding how the society works?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info.

Tbh it was just a thought as I drove into work, frustrates that I have this massive resource just sitting there. I do have the bestiary's set up in pdf on the iPad and using iBooks you can bookmark creatures for easier access so thats all good.

So, anyone want to buy some monstrous compendiums and pay the postage :) :0 :)

Morning all

I am a very new DM to Pathfinder but have run a lot of campaigns in the past. I have 2 BIG folders from the second edition Monstrous Compendium so was wondering, rather than trying to get hold of the bestiarys for PF would there be much conversion from 2nd to PF?

I am going to be splitting my campaign between pre-printed modules which will have stats in them, and own stuff so its mainly my own stuff I'll use the compendiums for.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot

I already have the pdf of City of Strangers hence I decided to run it in Kaer Maga. Not had a massive amount of time to absorb the info so only seen a brief description of each faction. Good to know there isn't some 'grand plan' in place already in the source, bit more freedom to do as I want.

Will try and find the Redemption Engine though, good to get some idea of atmosphere and approach.

Afternoon all

I have very recently started a new campaign in Kaer Maga. No long term plans per-se apart from adventure in city till 5th level or so then leave but am intrigued by the politics of the different factions.

The players are aligned with the Freemen but so far not really interacted much with other groups ... is there somewhere that gives advice on what factions align with others, what level of influence they have etc or is it all DM discretion?

Thanks in advance

Regards

"Critical hits and sneak attacks work on more creatures in Pathfinder versus D&D 3.5 (The "Sneak Attack" power has a sidebar next to it that details a lot about that over HERE (Scroll down, I couldn't link directly to it.)"

That's brilliant thanks, have a thief in the party and would of gone with old rules so thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for the responses.

Ran a quick game tonight, had them working for The Freemen against a rival faction freeing slaves being transported through their territory. We were caught out by the smaller pool of skills for example but essentially everything else was smooth. Moving on to Godsmouth Heresy next as fits in nicely with trying to get influence from the church of Pharasma so might have a little faction war as the start of my campaign.

I did take license with the description of the outer rings of Kaer Maga though. Didn't really have time to research in-depth so when it described about most people living 'within the walls' I went with a similar description to the Stronghold in the Belgariad so the 'streets' were actually more like tunnels cut out through the walls so to speak. My world, my rules :)

Hi all

I'm starting a small (2 or 3 player) pathfinder campaign tonight based in Kaer Maga initially with my best mate and his 13yr old daughter.

My history is from playing ADnD from 1st edition up to 3.5. I stopped playing about 7 or 8 years ago so completely missed version 4 and 5 hence I want to stick with Pathfinder.

Bit of advice though, what are the main differences (apart from specific rule changes) between 3.5 and Pathfinder? I'm talking in generic, overall terms so I can try and put those differences acros rather than the campaign feeling like 3.5 in a new world.

Thanks in advance.
