2. They are planning something that's essentially Barrier Peaks on Steroids. and Numeria is the setting for Barrier Peaks writ large. The tech introduced has self-limiting factors that ensure the planet is not going to be overrun by legions of Cybermen.

People always SAY we're not going to be overrun by Cybermen this time, but we still end up having to have the Doctor save us, don't we?

The only thing I have even a slight concern about is the Arcanist with the Occultist archtype. Being able to trade a 1st level spell slot for a Summon Monster spell of the appropriate level basically makes them the strongest summoner in the game and gives them a near endless array of useful things to do.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that's a bad thing, since I've never seen just summon monster destroy encounters. My biggest concern would be the use of it to (very) cheaply fund things like healing, buffing, and so forth from summoned creatures.

Did you note the additional cost? You get Summon Monster IX at 17th level. It costs 9 points to use. At that level, you have 11 per day. You can't even use it more than once without consuming magic items or spells.

Mind, the capstone lets you use it free, so you can summon a caster and then dismiss it and then summon another.

I still can't believe the Elf FCB for Arcanist is right. One point a level? 20 extra points at 20? Combine that with Extra Reservoir twice, and the Arcanist Elf is rocking 26 extra Reservoir points.
That isn't right. Elves get 1 point to the MAX of the reserve. Gnomes get 1/6 points daily. Otherwise, yes, elves would be totally broken. But the gnome FCB shows that has to be the wrong reading.

or the gnomes are supposed to have the same FCB as halflings... which is 1/6 of an EXPLOIT....

and what point is there in increasing your max points without increasing your points? If your Arcane Reservoir refills every day after rest, then your pool fills to max... so.. pretty much +1 point per day...

The gnomes "Add 1/6 to the number of points the arcanist gains in her arcane reservoir each day" seems pretty clear to me.

And uh, the reservoir DOESN'T refill each day. It holds 3 + Level max, but it refills only 3 + 1/2 level each day. Elves can raise the max, gnomes can raise the daily part.

I'm playing an Arcanist with Quick Study right now, and to be honest I have trouble thinking of playing a Manafont. I'm level 3, and I only have 3 spells prepared and 2 arcane points. Mostly I'm swapping out Mage Armor after I use it at the start of the dungeon, but that only leaves me 1 point for Quick Study or Potent Magic again. I can't imagine having fewer prepared spells.

I guess it'll work at higher levels, and you use Consume Spells to eat those extra first level spells to swap out higher level slots, but it's going to be even more painful at low level.

I was hoping to get a little pre-release feedback from you gentle folk. Are you a fan of the 3.5 warlock, or saw unrealized potential in it? If so,

1. What did you like most about it?
2. Least?
3. What do you consider essential to capture its essence?
4. What would you be looking for in a Pathfinder class along those lines? Is there any kind of oomph you would like to see?
5. Thoughts on the Pathfinder sorcerer, witch, and other classes with regard to the warlock archetype?

1: At-will magic.

2: How boring Eldritch Blast was.
3: At-will magic.
4: At-will magic.
5: No.

However, initiative bonuses from other sources (the two most common coming from Dexterity and Improved Initiative) do stack. So, you could have a 20 Dex, Improved Initative, a scorpion familiar, and Reactionary and get +13 to initiative at first level.

+15, actually. DEX (+5), Feat (+4), Familiar (+4), Trait (+2).

Oh hey, that makes perfect sense, thanks.

Page 233, the spell Shadow Hands has this:
Area semicircular wave of shadow 10 ft. in radius, centered on your hands
I'm confused by this, is it like a cone?

I like that you have the OGL spells in there, but when trying to add spells from Deep Magic, I found out you can't edit the Description field. I had to put all the spell info into Notes. Which does have the benefit of making it pop up on the shared sheet as a mouseover to look it, but is more annoying to read on the editable version.

Oh, almost forgot... when adding items like spells, etc, it sorts them in alphabetical order when editing, but does NOT do so when you view the shared version... it shows them in the order you added them.

EDIT: I just want to add again how much I like this so far. I was using Google Docs before this, and this is so much easier.

I'm liking it so far. One thing, maybe I'm just missing it... where's the vision field? I can see an output on the "shared" version, but no input.
