![]() TantrumCon 2019 is a brand new tabletop gaming convention at the Spartanburg Marriott on Feb. 15 - 17. Upstate SC PFS will be featuring a schedule of PFS and SFS at the Con. Full details with links are available on the Meetup page. Hope to see you there! -- Sam Sampson, Venture-Agent ![]()
![]() I have Dwarven Forge dungeon terrain that I'd like to use for an in-store PFS-sanctioned module or Adventure Path segment. The terrain is the traditional "brick" style rather than caverns. I have about 9-10 hours to run it. I'm looking for something with base level 3-8. Some suitable modules have already been run at the store, like Crypt of the Everflame, Masks of the Living God and some others. I'm familiar with Thornkeep and Emerald Spire but I think some players have played a fair amount of those. I'm looking at The Godsmouth Heresy, which is outside my preferred level range but could work. Thoughts? No Response From Deepmar is described as a combination of wilderness exploration and dungeon crawl, which also might work. Thoughts? Thanks! ![]()
![]() ... find a scenario? ;-) There's got to be a good one around here somewhere. :-D Alternatively, if you've seen Tamrin Credence, could you let me know where he went? ;-) :-) Your obedient servant,

![]() I'm about to kick off an Iron Gods campaign. IG Vol. 1 has a sidebar regarding glaucite, but there is also a sicatite weapon. I've checked the Tech. Guide and Archives of Nethys to no avail on rules for sicatite and other skymetals. Does anyone know where these rules are, assuming they exist? Thanks! ![]()
![]() I like to collect a few signatures at Gen Con, and I had a brainwave a week beforehand--what if I were to collect the signatures of all those who had submitted a "Best Character Ever" blog--and have them sign the character cards even?! Of course it would help if I knew what they looked like. Game designers like to maintain an aura of mystery to avoid people like me. Nonetheless I was able to determine the fleshly appearances of most of the group using private investigators and a few favors called in to the NSA. (I'm only saying it was hard so no one copies my idea.) Chad Brown (like that's his real name) and Keith Richmond remained elusive however.
Thursday dawned with my token cards safely in their Ultra Pro box. The Exhibit Hall opens and I shuffle feet with the herd. I'm headed past the Paizo booth to get another signature--and Mike Selinker and Gaby are just sitting there, at a table, with pens in hand! Two down, four to go! Oh wait no--"hey, Chad, come and sign your best character ever!" So "Chad Brown" comes over and puts his Hancock on Seelah. Three down! After zipping around the Hall on other errands, I returned to Mike and Gaby to discern the whereabouts of the other three Designers. Tanis and Keith were in the Sagamore working with Organized Play. I knew I would likely see them the next day as I was also getting "Organized." I was directed to Liz Spain's booth, where she did a happy dance (I lie not) and put some ink on Damiel. She also dropped a tidbit about a forthcoming class deck (true)--they're going out-of-the-box a little with an unpublished class from Jason Bulmahn's notes: the Scrivener (not confirmed). The next day Tanis O'Connor graced me with her X's. Now why does she get two characters? Cause she's awesome that's why! I was a fill-in player in the ACG Open which she GMed, and now I'm afraid to say anything against her. So... afraid... Keith was the last, but not least. He mentioned there would be more Best Characters Ever. That's cool. Their Designers' autographs will be mine. Mine I tell you! Mine!

![]() This came up after a scenario. I certainly don't see anything about forgoing a Day Job check in the Guide. The player in question also thought they could train an animal 1 trick per skill rank in Handle Animal. I don't see support for that in the description of Handle Animal. If you can indicate the rules reference(s) that support your answers, that would be great. Thanks! ![]()

![]() While I both play and GM PFS fairly frequently, I generally find GMing more interesting. So my out-of-game preparation time usually focuses on preparing scenarios. As a result I am behind the curve on character creation knowledge. I often find that encounters in PFS are overwhelmed by what I'll term "powerful" character builds. I use that term to avoid polarizing this thread. The purpose of this thread is not to discuss opinions on game balance, but to gather information on what you consider to be powerful character builds. Note that I don't plan to misuse this information--for instance by having enemies act on knowledge they couldn't have, or singling out players by criticism or hassling. Instead, this information would be helpful in adjusting tactics once enemies know PC capabilities. The goal would be to challenge players, not to treat them unfairly. Further, this information would help determine what is reasonable to expect when, for instance, a level 7 barbarian rolls attack damage. That would make it easier to identify rules mistakes (and even cheating) without slowing down the game excessively. Please post a summary of the build(s) and which particular components (feats, spells, class features, magic items) make it powerful. Simply posting "tiefling sorcerer" is not helpful. (That's just an example, not a comment on tiefling sorcerers.) I am happy to look up the particulars of rules so you don't have to repeat that information in full. Exhaustive detail, and a lengthy defense of why you consider it powerful, isn't necessary. It would also be helpful to note if there are gray areas or FAQ'd rules that are involved. I think this thread will work best if we just provide information and avoid opinionated commentary. Note: I have done some searching of the forums, but it was difficult to find a thread that aggregates this information. Feel free to point me to other threads. Thanks! ![]()
![]() Hello,
I expect an influx of ~17,000 gp. My current ideas are: Warhammer +1 demonbane... 6,000 gp upgrade (going to be focusing on Season 5).
So... that leaves about 6,500. Stuff I have:

![]() Hello,
They hold an annual charity auction on BoardGameGeek.com. All bids go to the charity. I have posted a Pathfinder Beginner Box signed by Jason Bulmahn for the auction here. The item also includes the Beginner Box Heroes Miniature Set. Make sure you read the terms of the auction before bidding. It ends Monday at 11:59pm CST. Thanks for your support! ![]()
![]() I'm just drawing attention to the event on the calendar: Boardwalk Game Day: We Be Goblins 1/Too!. We are also on Facebook: link. Note the $5 admission for the Game Day. Hope to see you there! ![]()
![]() There will be five slots (1-2 tables/slot) of PFS at MonsterCon in Greenville, SC, Fri. July 26 - Sun. July 28. We'll be prepared to run:
PLUS
Remember you can run a pregenerated character if you don't have your own PC of the appropriate level. Please see http://warhorn.net/monstercon for the schedule. If you register for MonsterCon online, let me know via PM so I can make sure you get a login to Warhorn (you don't need a login to simply view the schedule). The convention is being held at Timmons Arena at Furman University. It includes many sci-fi/fantasy/horror fan events. See http://monstercon.org for more information. I am not employed by or affiliated with MonsterCon. Thanks! ![]()
![]() I believe I have found a minor issue in #3-18. Pathfinder courier #1 is shot with an arrow and goes into Barleyhusk's store and then gets offed by Parani. Pathfinder courier #2 is getting whomped by thugs but is ALSO shot by an arrow according to Friar Horace. However Graycloak Boss Runewulf says the attacks aren't related since one was shot and the other beaten. The PCs have a chance to discover an arrow at the second scene, so I can't just drop that part of it. So we need to have Runewulf give some other reason he doesn't think the attacks are related--any ideas? ![]()
![]() First, a question about Climb. Suppose you have a PC standing on one surface who wants to pull himself up to another surface. I assume that's a Climb test, but what would the DC be? I'm thinking 5 or 10. The Armor Check penalty would account for the weight of the PC. Second, we have a trap that makes a melee attack roll against multiple targets. Does it make one attack roll and compare to the various ACs, or multiple rolls? Thanks! ![]()
![]() I thought I'd draw some attention to this convention since I didn't see another thread about it. I am not doing this in any kind of "official" capacity. MACE West (or CUDGEL) is being held at the Gateway Hotel in Hickory, NC (30 min. from Charlotte) on Fri. April 5 - Sun. April 7, 2013. It features a good selection of board games and RPGs, all for just $20. Of interest to PFS members are the 14 sessions of PFS scheduled! And all sessions currently have open seats! You can preregister your sessions through the OGRe system--however preregistration ends tomorrow, March 26, so act fast. :-) (If you can't preregister, no worries, I imagine there will be plenty of open seats.) I myself will be GMing PFS for the first time. I'm running #3-21 Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (levels 1-5) Sat. at 8am (zzz...). So if you want to take advantage of a new GM, here's your chance. :-) This scenario will put your problem-solving skills to the test! I look forward to seeing you there! ![]()
![]() In D&D 3.5 there was a Malconvoker class. The idea was that he was a good character that summoned evil creatures to fight fire with fire. Although I think back in 3.5 you could summon humanoids like orcs, now the only thing evil-aligned you can summon are outsiders. In any case, does anyone know of a way a good character could summon evil outsiders? Of course in a home campaign you could just house rule it: if he wants to do it, he must use Summon Monster at 1 higher level than normally necessary. However, currently I have only played PFS. It would also be cool if a Summoner's eidolon could be a different alignment. I think an eidolon either has the Summoner's alignment or is neutral? Thanks! |
