![]() On the landrush page, you can see the settlement priority list for the guild you have joined. Apparently this information is being targeted by spies who join a guild and then leave after they've seen the list. This could be seen as valid strategic moves and completely allowed or as a cheap way of working the system that is annoying or worse. Does the settlement priority list really need to be available on the landrush page to all accepted applicants to the guild? Is there some good reason why the list needs to be there or should the devs maybe hide it from being viewed? ![]()
![]() Just some thoughts and a bit of advice to whomever wants it. I think it applies to several of the discussions running on these forums. It's directed at no one in particular. Take it or leave it.
What we, the forum community, have to base our speculation on are mostly preliminary outlines of parts of the game mechanics. Stating in a definitive manner that this or that can't be avoided because a blog said one thing or another doesn't cut it. It's a little bit like reading an abridged summary of parts of a law book and saying that no one should care about which side of the street to drive their cars on because you haven't read anything that explicitly details that situation. The statement "This society will fail because people will crash their cars into each other all the time. The laws about littering are pointless because there will be burning car wrecks all over the place anyway." is based on unfounded assumptions. The statement "It seems the document provided to me doesn't describe traffic regulations at much detail. It would be good if there is a law set for which side of the street to drive on because otherwise cars risk crashing into each other." is much more reasonable and may lead to a better discussion. ![]()
![]() This thread is intended for discussion of the visual effects that accompany the casting of spells and buffs, combat actions etcetera. The aim is to find out what the community thinks about these effects - what should they look like and how spectacular should they be. I believe that now is the right time to discuss this, from the latest video it seems that not a lot of particle effects are in the game yet. If we are to have a say in what the effects will look like, better speak up now than after they have already been implemented. ---------------------- My personal view is this: the particle effects of most MMORPGs are too showy. "Physical" actions, like swinging a sword or firing an arrow, should not be accompanied by "magical-looking" effects, e.g. purple or red light tracing the object and sparking off upon impact. Buffs should not "tint" the character a certain color or provide a glowy aura, unless it makes perfect sense for it to do so (like stoneskin, fireshield). "Discrete" should be the guiding principle to follow rather than "spectacular". I'm interested in reading other people's opinions on these matters. ![]()
![]() From the latest screenshot, it looks to me like the armor worn by the characters is set up in a way that might allow for easy customization of the colours.

![]() So, yesterday there was supposedly a one-hour presentation about PFO by Dancey & Stevens. I also saw on the PaizoCon blog that there was a playable demo of PFO at the convention. I am very curious to read more about this, see some screenshots and perhaps even a video from the presentation. Is it being saved for this week's wednesday blog? ![]()
![]() As I understand character advancement, a character's power, "class" and usefulness will to a large extent be decided by feats. A player can choose to "equip" feats from a list of trained feats. Specializing your training in one area will be possible and have some benefits but it should be rather easy for new players to "catch up" in power, but not versatility, to older players. So, my question: Will it (after say two years of playing) be possible for me to be a competent barbarian but also a competent wizard, i.e. having two very different "specs" I can switch between (perhaps with a few minutes of cooldown between switches)? I suspect the answer here is "yes", if I have trained feats from both of those skill trees and I own good gear to swap between suited for each class. But I think that such switching does not really belong in this game. What do you think, will "class switching" on the fly be possible and should it be possible? |
