Background:
Born in a small village in Ustalav, Wulbert had always been considered a little strange. With his pale skin and the odd sing-song quality to his voice, others found him at best unnerving and at worst down right creepy. Wulbert desperately wanted to make friends, but the other children kept a wide berth. Some even said he was cursed after a string of unfortunate accidents befell those few children brave enough to spend any time with the young halfling.
Wulbert increasingly spent time alone, seeking out those places where others did not go in order to avoid the taunts and suspicious looks. One of those places was the local graveyard. He found it peaceful walking among the graves lost in his own thoughts.
It was on one such walk that he first came across the dancer. At first all he saw was a light flitting among the tombstones. But as he crept nearer, he saw that it was a beautiful woman, glowing with a pale light. The woman asked what he was doing all alone in the graveyard at night and Wulburt explained his plight. She seemed kind and told Wulbert that the reason for his strangeness was that he was special, and was destined to make many friends, both those who are alive and those who are dead. If he wished she could teach him to dance, and with that dance he could help guild the lost spirits back home. He danced in the graveyard every night, honing his skills. Until the time came when he knew he must leave, to help the lost spirits in the wider world and to dance and to make new friends.
