Scarab Sages

If you're coming out to see George R. R. Martin, or just coming to con it up, see if you can't make time to stop by and see us for a game. Even though it's a Sci-Fi/fantasy convention, we of the Seattle area PFS group will be running Society games. NorWesCon is held in the same hotel that PaizoCon is moving to this year.

Scarab Sages

The wording of the playtest document is as follows:

Page 59:
Psychic magic originates from the distinctive qualities of the caster’s composite being, rather than through arcane formulas or rote supplication to divine entities. Therefore, psychic spells never have verbal or somatic components. Because of this, psychic spells are purely mental actions, and they can be performed even while the caster is pinned or paralyzed. Psychic spells still retain focus components just as other spells. When a spell calls for an expensive material component, a psychic spellcaster can instead use any item with significant meaning and a value greater than or equal to the spell’s component cost. For example, if a spiritualist wanted to cast raise dead to bring her dead husband back from the grave, she could use her 5,000-gp wedding ring as the spell’s material component. Instead of verbal and somatic components, all psychic spells have components related to the caster’s inner being. The two psychic components are called thought components (marked as T) and emotion components (marked as E).

But then later the document mentions Concentration DCs:

Page 59:
Thought components are so mentally demanding that they make interruptions and distractions extremely challenging. The DC for any concentration check for a spell with a thought component increases by 10. A psychic spellcaster casting a spell with a thought component can spend an extra move action before beginning to cast the spell to center herself and avoid the increased DC.

So if a spell is a purely mental action, like channeling, and can be done while pinned or paralyzed, do they provoke?

Do the Snakebite Striker and Strangler archetypes stack for the purposes of PFS play? The Strangler adds Stealth as a class skill, while the Snakebite Striker adds Stealth and Bluff in place of Intimidate. I know that archetypes that replace the same class features cannot stack, but this is the first time I've run into this particular overlap.

I am looking into making a Sap Master Bludgeoner build. Looking through the weapons list, I noticed that only 2 bludgeoning weapons have a 19-20 crit range, both of which are Exotic/Monk weapons. Is there any way to make this type of build viable for a Butterfly Sting inclusion?

Liberty's Edge

I just want to confirm that I am calculating this properly, so here goes:

Spirited Charge:
Benefit: When mounted and using the charge action, you deal double damage with a melee weapon (or triple damage with a lance).
Power Attack:
Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2. You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.
Risky Striker:
Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty to AC to gain a +2 bonus on melee damage rolls against creatures two or more size categories larger than you. When your base attack bonus reaches +4 and every four levels thereafter, the damage increases by 2. The bonus damage is multiplied in the case of a critical hit. You can only choose to use this feat when you declare that you are making an attack action or a full-attack action with a melee weapon. The effects last until your next turn.

While using a Lance, do Power Attack and Risky Striker get tripled by spirited charge?

In my short term as an Eagle Knight, I have had the great displeasure of being dominated by one, and almost ensnared by another Succubus. After ripping the wings from two of these foul demon's, My local coordinator has said that if I slay two more of the seductresses without a Clear Spindle Ioun Stone, he will sign off on saying that my cloak is made of their wings for vanity. So, I was wondering which other scenarios have Succubi? I know that:

Spoiler:
Dawn of the Scarlet Sun(4-6) = Avalexi
Encounter at the Drowning Stones(7-11) = "The Razor of Sifkesh"
& The Hellknight's Feast(5-9) = Samivashti

Scarab Sages

I have been playing a Zen Archer recently and have come upon a topic for which I would like some developer guidance. I know this particular topic has been a question for a long time from the research I have done, but I have seen so many conflicting responses on every side of the debate.

Here is the question:
While under the effect of Enlarge Person, would the arrows do 1d8 damage? Or, would they do 2d6 damage? As per the Core Rulebook, damage is based on the bow. However, the text for Enlarge Person states:
"Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature’s possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell."

This also contradicts what is said by Reduce Person:
"Melee and projectile weapons deal less damage. Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any reduced item that leaves the reduced creature’s possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown weapons deal their normal damage (projectiles deal damage based on the size of the weapon that fired them)."

So, 1d8 or 2d6? This also ties in with Gravity Bow, which says:
"Gravity bow significantly increases the weight and density of arrows or bolts fired from your bow or crossbow the instant before they strike their target and then return them to normal a few moments later. Any arrow fired from a bow or crossbow you are carrying when the spell is cast deals damage as if one size larger than it actually is. For instance, an arrow fired from a Medium longbow normally deals 1d8 points of damage, but it would instead deal 2d6 points of damage if fired from a gravity bow (see page 145 of the Core Rulebook for more information)."

Gravity Bow says it affects the arrows and states that the damage is based on the bow. Under the assumption that all damage from arrows is based on the bow that fired them, a person under the effects of both Gravity Bow and Enlarge Person should be doing 3d6 damage per arrow. This is without the need to purchase Large Arrows, because the arrows get enlarged with you and damage is based on the bow.

Is this correct?
