AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Watching the bird fly away, Wei hums to himself a tune he learned when he was a mere child in the mangrove village. "Well then, I guess I must await Chu's arrival." Then, after making a note of his ragged and wet robes he thinks, Though perhaps I should clean find myself new robes and a healer. I'm sure the nobles would not like the sight of me as is.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Hmm... where am I now, anyway?

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Holiday weekend. I'm sure everybody has the busy going on.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei stares at the bird, fascinated, and gently moves his hand to his shoulder to allow it to perch there. "I have a guest as well, old friend. I must go on ahead of you to the palace. Be safe." With that, he darts off with a grace and speed uncharacteristic for one so large.

Traveling tonight for 4 hours to family, so may or may not have access. Hopefully Kyras will get a break and be able to pick up the convo. Wei/Chu? Have anything to add for flavor?

Wei is a bit out of his depth right now. Hasn't adventured in decades, and now all this fun stuff since this morning. He doesn't have any personal stake in the current events, so he's just following Chu's lead.

Maybe I'll throw in some flavor tomorrow before I head off to entertain bikers.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Apparently unnecessary

Chu:
::I haven't much left myself. Fighting will not be our best option for sure.::

"Well then everyone, are we done acting like a poor actor's troop? Perhaps we should discuss this somewhere more peaceably. I would suggest my gardens, if they were closer."

Activating the spell is a standard action. It is essentially a spell completion item. Depending on the mode of activation it may or may not provoke.

Ideas about positioning and readied actions don't really exist without Initiative. We could casually say "I ready an action to do x if y happens, but in truth, readied action impact your place in initiative, and assume you are in a reactionary mindset. If you are trying to stop someone from doing something, react to it, or otherwise impact their action, you roll initiative and proceed normally. Having said that, you could have a surprise action if the other person is completely unaware you may act.

As an objective observer, it looks like straight initiative, then order of initiative, with no surprises. Remember that during the first round of actions, a nonsurprised person is still flatfooted and faster-acting characters still have the drop on them. People get the concepts of surprised and flatfooted confused a lot.

Hope I was helpful. Now I'm gonna go find out which Sera sister loves me the most.

This. Exactly. After having just gone through one busted combat due to wonky initiatives, I cannot stress the importance of holding to initiative in PvP. Once the your in turn based combat, ya can't do anything besides an immediate action or AOO. A declared prepared action is cool, but you still have to go by your turn. I can say 'prepared action to slap Kyras if he does something goofy' but if he has a 20 and I've got an 18 initiative wise, then he's able to complete the stupid before I get to go smacky.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei begins throwing rocks at Kyras and insulting his mother.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei nods at Chu and drops to the street.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Just standin around, watchin everyone argue.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Taking in the situation, and the drastic change in Kyras' personality, Wei's muscles tighten as he readies himself for quick action. He is unsure as to the exact nature of the object on the ground, but he guesses it cannot be good.

"What is that thing he's looking at, Master Chu? Should we keep him away from it?"

Readied action: Charge+grapple if Kyras goes for the abomination

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Ugh... children..."

Wei runs off after Chu and Kyras.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Just gonna follow Chu.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei shrugs when Azami glances at him, and merely watches the scene unfold before him. Currently unsure how to proceed, he awaits the actions of everyone else in the group.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"The man calling himself Swift, honorable general. There was also a goblin here, claiming he knew something of your sister's predicament. Swift vanished with the flood that followed you, the goblin just before."

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"He's gone! Could the water have washed him out of his cell?"

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Fort. Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Khagzhi strolls past Azami and Kyras on his way to Swift's cell. Hepauses for a second, cocks his head at Kyras, and says, "The lady speaks some wisdom, lad. Consider listening to her on occasion." With a wink he heads over to see to Swift.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Where did the goblin go? I heard him mention something about the jars."

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Khangzhi stands in place with a sly grin, letting the waters rush over him. Unmoved by the flood, he smiles at the everyone in the room. "A refreshing shower indeed, just the thing after nearly being eaten." He turns to Sera and nods, "Glad to see you still with us.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

A quick question, due to Wei's bastion stance ability (which prevents him from being forcibly moved by anything but mind control or teleportation), do I need to roll the save to avoid damage?

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

You can't tell me this doesn't sound awesome:

Furious Rend (Ex): While raging, and after a succesful charge and bite attack, the Makami-Riki can violently tear off a huge chunk of flesh from it's victim. The Makami-riki makes a CMB check against the target, and if succesful, does 1d4 CON damage and 1d4 bleed, and the victim must make a DC 22 fort save or be staggered for 1d4 rounds. Both targets gain the grappled condition until the beginning of the Makami-riki's next turn, when he releases the target.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Oh, just something horrible I put together for Senor Clark.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

I have a personal stake in how the game proceeds... Hopefully it does not come back to... ahem... bite me in the ass.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

We'll probably have to wait till after gen*con is over before we see much action here, I'm guessing

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Oh boy...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

...bracing for impact...

Wei shouts, "Swift, my friend, are you prepared for the deluge?"

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Well everyone, you heard them, hold onto something. Me, if you feel brave," says Wei, and he smiles, turns to face away from the oncoming water, and stamps his feet on the ground.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Round 4, Initiative 16

Flurry of Blows
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 Damage: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 x2 = 36
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Damage: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

Total smackage of 38 after DR

Ki point for +4 AC again

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Gozreh bless me, perhaps I punched one so hard the other backed off...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Stricken badly by the two Tunnel Gougers' rabid assault, Khangzhi staggers. "Ooof... One of these maybe, but two may be too much for me..."

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 damage: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 damage: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Swift: 1 Ki for +4 AC

Wei drops a pair of satisfyingly hard punches onto the aberrations face, and then braces himself for the attack that will almost certainly drop him.

Note: AC is currently at 32... if I'm lucky, I might survive another round...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

I have no problems with this system, in general.

But I feel I should point out my AC is currently 28, and the first creature missed me with two attacks. I am still, however, getting beat down pretty handily. Time for some Ki AC bumping...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei winces when one of the grotesque bites down on his shoulder. "Well then..."

Flurry of blows:
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Miserable...

Damage: 1d10 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

need to dig up my d20 again...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Oh... lovely. I am going to be set on fire.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Well, when diplomacy and cleverness fail, try hitting things," Khangzhi says and charges at the opening slab, slamming his shoulder into it full force in hopes of jamming it on it's track, or breaking the mechanism powering it.

Charge + Power Attack
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Damage... hopefully...
1d10 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Do not be silly, it is I who is not worthy," Wei says to Swift. The conversation is quickly cut short however as everyone begins shouting and doors slam shut. "Well, my friend, it appears I once again revive you just in time for chaos to break out. Perhaps you should sit this one out, while you recover. I should hope my group of new-found companions and I can handle this." With that, Khangzhi strides to the entrance of the cell and assumes his dragon style stance.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Clearly, I am the professor.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei listens carefully to Chu's instructions, and nods quietly to him. He takes the jar and kneels by the man called Swift, pausing to make a brief prayer to Gozreh. I know this is not your domain, but I thank you and hope for your blessings. Now that I have fulfilled my duty to this man, I can see to avenging the violated shrine above. With that done, he opens the jar near Swift's head, and hold's his breath, waiting for the result.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei listens to the conversations going on in the room, paying special attention to the matters of Swift and his healing. When he hears Azami speak, he adds in a concerned tone, "He is not reviving? Perhaps it is something with the jars?"

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

"Yes, old friend, I wasn't thinking clearly. I will stand guard while you see to him and anyone else you deem necessary," Wei says while giving the goblin in the other cell a suspicious look.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei rushes over to the cell containing the man called Swift. "Quickly! I must see to this man!"

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei pays little mind to the contents of the room, but his attention is immediately foucsed when he hears Chujitsana read the names. "Swift, you say?"

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Wei looks Kyras over sternly when he breaks Envoy-6's suggested silence, then relaxes. Watching the Warbanian and the Serpentfolk move ahead, he speaks, "I came down here to help a man the Plum Blossom took while under my protection. Fighting gremlin hordes holds little interest to me. Let us press forward."

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

I know of a goblin that still has unfinished business with him...

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Oh yay. Grik-Grok.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Ah, of course... Chu is using telepathy.

AC: 28 (T:28/FF:24) - Hp: 58/114 - Ki: 4/9 - F:11/R:11/W:12

Ah... missed the part where Chu said he was addressing everyone. Need to read more carefully. I'll just pretend Wei wasn't paying attention, because it amuses me to do so.

Wei thinks to himself, Bad luck and gremlins, today continues to improve! He turns to the others as they exchange strange and awkward glances. With a shrug, the monk waves his arms in an effort to convey minor annoyance.
