Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Life should always come before D&D. Have a good one

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Let's get out of here. Be sure to strip Lamm and his accomplices of anything valuable or useful. They won't be needing it. I think we need to get these children someplace safe. Mercy, how about your temple? After securing the children's safety, we can find someone to locate their parents or find them new homes. We also need to go back to Zellara. Though I can't say that I know what will happen when we do.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon notices something at the bottom of the box and he hands it to the others.
There's something in this box. Could someone get it out for me? I have some other business to attend to.
Waydon stows his shield and draws his bastard sword. With confidence he strides forward to Lamm. With the calm of a man doing something routine, Waydon grabs Lamm's shoulder and stands him up but doesn't let go. Waydon looks him dead in the eye. With decisive ease he jams the blade into Lamm's gut all the way to the hilt. Waydon watches the look in Lamm's eyes as the life flows out him. As the body slackens and grows heavy, Waydon releases his grip on Lamm's shoulder and watches as his body slides off of the blade and crashes unceremoniously to the ground.
With his son's safety secured, Waydon turns to the group.
Well what was in the box?

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

"I found a lot, but its certainly not good or clear to me how this is possible."
Waydon returns to the room with the head of Vellara in his hands. He swats away some of the flies in irritation. He is puzzled and angry.

"Mercy, forgive my harsh and hasty actions earlier. You're too good for this world friend.
I know not what to make of this head. I swear we saw this very woman earlier, did we not?
Lamm, you live to speak. What treachery is this?
If you have nothing to say I think its time we put an end to this. I have no qualms about being the one to do so. For those who wish to have no part in this, I suggest you step outside. There are other items in the storeroom to be retrieved and examined later."

List of items found:
-A teak cigar case inlaid with jade
-A gold ingot with the Chelian Coat of Arms
-A miniture gold crown
-A fist sized scrimshaw of a kraken with ruby eyes
-A silver ring with the inscription "For Emmah - The light of my nights"
-A very realistic, and highly scandalous carving of two entwined succubi
-A nice looking shuriken
-An adamantine arrowhead
-An abalone-shell holy symbol of Shelyn
-A vial of something
-An obsidian wand
-A crystalline vial of something else
-A bejeweled brooch depicting a psuedodragon and an imp coiled around each other with a broken clasp

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Sorry to have made such a big stink guys. Won't let it happen again.
I'm sure we'll find a place for Mercy's mercy in future encounters. A tough character to play in this setting for sure.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon searches the hat box.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

We swing swords at people with lethal intent. Within game terms this may not always kill them but that doesn't mean we aren't trying to kill them. One critical hit and we could've outright killed any of them. We did not know who they were and I don't remember hearing anything about cold blooded murder. We ran in a room and started swinging with lethal intent. It's D&D.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon stops.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

This situation is utterly ridiculous. It's D&D. We kill bad guys. If we don't kill Lamm I suppose we'll rounding up all the bad guys in the future? We killed the guys upstairs and we barely knew them. We just assumed they were bad. We didn't even know their crimes. And the killing in cold blood argument is ridiculous in a world of magical healing. We could have healed all the guys we killed and tied them up too. Lamm is only alive because we brought him back to life.
We are aggrieved characters but we're going to show mercy to the Lamm, the architect of our woes, whereas we're fine with killing everyone else because they're nameless?
Is this playing in-character?

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

" Hmm that's fair but that means we will have to bring him to the proper authorities. We did kill someone upstairs just for being in a place where we suspected Lamm was hiding. Personally I'd be happy to vouch for your innocence and say that Lamm committed the crime. He'll never confess anyways. Are we bringing that halforc to justice as well?
Wayden will go search the hatbox while the rest figure out their position.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Reflex save vs grease 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

so did you mean to say you drop your sword or shield, draw your whip and then make a disarm attempt? I ask because this is the first time your whip has made an appearance and you have a shield figured into your stats. Also just how are you proficient with a whip? Says its a free racial proficiency on your sheet but halforcs aren't proficient with whips unless they replace Orc ferocity with beastmaster which you haven't done. Not sure how to proceed with my actions given these descrepancies with raw.

That's right I have my son. And I need to keep him and the other children safe. Your plan is total madness. Last I time I went to temple I did not see a prison cell, unless you mean to lock him in the vault of Abadar? All of you listen to what Mercy is saying and explain to me how any of this makes sense?
Wayden picks his sword back up.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon takes a break from searching the side room to weigh in on Lamm's fate.
"Lamm's continued existence is a threat to my family's safety. I fear and respect the gods but their churches are not prisons. Lamm is well-connected. He will get free from your church. No, Mercy I'm willing to fight you and anyone else who stands for Lamm. He dies. No other option is acceptable. All the energy you would spend on him could be spent on helping the children above. Leave if you do not wish to see my soul tainted with murder. For tonight I will kill Lamm, would you kill me to save that scum?"
Wayden will walk forward and draw his sword. He means to act.

I will accept any attacks of opportunity but will coup de grace Lamm.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

I updated my character as well.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Taking the keys that were removed from Lamm, Waydon will try to open the strongbox with them.
He will also look inside the wooden hatbox.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon Cordus strides over to see what is behind the door. He intends to find everything of value within this place before he puts Lamm to the sword. Lamm may have some useful information about items within the room. Seeing that Mercy is intent upon keeping the old man alive makes things a little more difficult as he sees it. Unfortunately for the paladin this is something that has to be done.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Hey it could be useful for us to think about team roles as we level up. My character is a defender/tank type with a little bit of people skills. I'm planning on building primarily in the direction of tank/defender because we have others that will be better as team communicators like our bard.
As I see it we don't have any real sneaky people, if you have a dexterity you might consider a level of rogue.
In the case of our Magi it might be good for you two to differentiate yourselves from one another. I'm not up on that class so I don't what directions are possible.
Anyways a little team planning can go a long way.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Lets search the room everyone. I'll keep an eye on Lamm.
Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Hey look over there I see something.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Waydon swings when he sees an opening.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Wayden watches the blood pour out of Gadren's neck and he feels more a sense of relief than of pleasure. Turning towards the halforc, he charges and puts everything he has into striking him.
Power Attack + charge
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

The writing has been good. I'm really enjoying the game.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Heal check
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Wayden concerned for the life of his companion despite his desire for vengeance tends to Krista's wounds.
As air breaks through Krista's lips, Wayden sighs and moves towards Lamm with bad intentions

Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
" Lamm we've never met before, you took something from me very precious. Though you didn't realize it, you signed your own death warrant when you did that and I'm here serve it to you. Honestly I'd prefer it if you and your goons put up a fight. Don't expect to beg your way out of this and there's nowhere you could run that I won't find you and gut you. The name is Waydon Cordus, remember it so you can tell Pharasma who sent you."
Can't move my icon on my iPhone.
Actions:
Watching Krista fall Wayden's face grows taunt with anger. Looking at the Half Orc he yells:
Face me and know your fate
Waydon this declares his challenge and strikes:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon follows Veklen eager to see justice meted out.
I heard nothing. I agree that someone should watch for Lamm's escape.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

That works for me

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Reflex save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Ouch.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

You'll hardly notice I've been gone.
Waydon has rope and a grappling hook.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Listen well son, your father has to take care of the man that did this to you. I have to do this to keep you and your friends here safe.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Good call on the Theanna comment.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Titus! I had hoped and dreamed but truly did not believe I would find you. Everything is going to be fine but I'm going to ask you to do something unfair. I need you to be a big boy for me. We've got to help these other children and put an end to the bad man Lamm. Can you do that for me. Help Daddy and the others. Listen to these folks. They're Daddy's friends.
Waydon hoists Titus up on one shoulder. His joy at finding his son is marred by competing concerns. As a man of honor he sees the protection of all these children as his duty despite his immediate desire to secure his son's safety. Additionally thought of explaining his wife's demise confronts him in every feature on Titus' face that reminds him of her.

We need to consider our options. We can have one of us stay with the children to ensure their proctection. Or we can hide them somewhere till we return.
Turning to the children: diplomacy
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Where did Lamm and his goons go?
Waydon makes a monkey face when he says the word goons to win the children over.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

I'm Titus' father. Have seen him? We're here to help you all find families of your own. Wouldn't you like that? To be a part of a real family without fear?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Waydon looks around for signs of his son or anything unusual.
Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10

I understand that people are busy, it just seems to me that the death of many campaigns comes when you await the response of everyone for every action. The people who are posting stop checking because no one else has posted for a long time. When midterms are issue just tell us there will be no posts from certain period and that should be fine.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

I think silence is a yes for most play by posters. With a group this large we're bound to have some gaming casualties due to real life. If we don't move forward in a timely fashion we're likely to have more. Personally I'd like to see this game move a little faster. If we end up with a smaller group as a result so be it.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

splitting up sounds like a fine plan. Our currents lines should work. Hey paladin fall in a line and get with it. We'll need your sword before the day is done.
Waydon can hesitate no longer he plunges through the room he's in and swings open the door on the other end.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Not sure we can trust this craven fool's words. Let's tie him up and move on.
Waydon moves to the room to the north.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

sorry I thought he was an alchemist pulling out bombs or something nefarious because he snickered, I won't stab his ass.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon stabs him in the chest
 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

"Is their a child here that resembles me? If so where is he? And where is Lamm? Speak fast or pain follows."
Wadyon strides forward and displays his sword to the urchin.

Intimidate
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Welcome dude

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

If you need to catch your breath back out and let the paladin into the melee.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon swings on the thug in front of him and baits him into the room but taking a sly step to the side.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

actions:
Waydon attacks and takes a five foot step.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Sorry for the slow posts. My wife just had a baby. A beautiful baby girl. May be slow posting for awhile.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon moves over the half orc's body and observes the doors listening for any obvious sounds of movement.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

actions:
Waydon will make a double move action placing himself in front of the door if there is still space left on his turn.

Waydon's stomach tightens as he rushes forward looking for any sign of his boy.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

actions:
Waydon will draw his sword as a part of his move action.

Male Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Strategist

Waydon will move across on the street on his turn.
