Those are some craptacular intiative rolls.

Vladimir, sure that there was nothing to stop this fight, slashes at the large lizardman hoping that if the "leader" falls, the fight will quickly end.

"Vesket was weak?" Vladimir asks, clearly beginning to believe a peaceful resolution is nothing more than a pipedream. "Is that why Ssjarlith and S'kar are in this cave as opposed to the village?"

"We were not sent by the tribe directly for that purpose. Those still there seem to have reason to fear Ssjarlith and by association S'kar." Taking note of the size of the lizardman before him, Vladimir adds, "I assume the latter of the two is you."

"Vesket was a blight on your people because of the 'spirit' with which he allied himself. Now the folk of the village seem to fear the return of SSjarlith. Is it true that she 'consumed' another of the tribe called Ussathra?" Vladimir asks, ready to grab his blade in a flash should negotiations turn for the worse.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

That's one way of going about it, I suppose... Vladimir thinks to himself before nodding affirmatively toward Nico.

"Vesket is gone. There is no reason you can not live in peace at the village again. Why are you here?"

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

"A dozen you say?" Vladimir asks, confirming the number.

"We had best be careful then, I suppose." he adds, drawing his blade and moving up onto the muddy beach, looking around for any other signs of the cave's inhabitants or any other routes from the chamber other than the deepening stream, but sees little beyond the bright glare of his lighted shield.

"Well done, Garborn." Vladimir says, patting the large man on the shoulder.

Taking note of the darkness, Vladimir casts a light spell on his buckler and begins moving toward the entrance to the cave.

Vladimir continues to standby, listening to the conversation between the treant and Garborn, deferring to the druid's expertise on such matters.

Vladimir's hand falls to the hilt of his blade, but otherwise pauses, waiting for the results of Garborn's communication with the creature.

"As we have certainly been seen and likely heard at this point, I see little point in anything other than a direct confrontation." Vladimir says moving towards the cave's mouth.

Vladimir eyes the crow that Nico had pointed out.

"Well so much for any surprise then. While I would prefer a diplomatic solution, I have my doubts that it will be possible. Thoughts?" he asks his companions.

"I suppose that would be the dark oak caves the lizardfolk spoke of." Vladimir says to no one in particular. "Looks particularly smelly and unpleasant."

I would be in favor of exploring and mapping as we go along.

"Inadvertently or not, we are responsible for this result. It is up to us to rectify this situation " Vladimir says.

"Would you agree? he asks, of his companions.

Vladimir's eyes narrow, hearing the fate of the lizardfolk village. "Who are this Ssjarlith and S'skar you speak of? I get the impression they are even worse than Vesket."

Vladimir nods in agreement with Garborn's statement. "Vesket was unworthy of your people. In his servitude of the spirit, he brought about his own doom, we were simply the instrument of that fate."

Vladimir watches on cautiously, waiting to see what happens with Garborn's plan.

With a smirk, Vladimir turns to Marisol, "No swimming for you today?" Glancing back at the murky water he adds, "Can not say that I blame you."

Got it, then ignoring the above Oppresive Expectations reverts to Perception.

Perception DC 10: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 = 26 (Oppressive Expectations, Success clears the penalty going forward)

Knowledge (Local) DC 11: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Perception DC 14: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

As the party slogs their way through the swampy land, Vladimir points out the markings hung from trees and arranged on poles, leather and bone fetishes and markings cut into trees and etched onto stone surfaces.

"Looks like we've wandered into someone's tribal territory. Lizardfolk, based on the markings if I am not mistaken."

Continuing on with a wary eye open, Vladimir nudges his companions, pointing out a trio of ripples in the murky water of the river keeping pace with the group. "It appears we have a bit of company."

Longtime no see. Indeed the game is still alive, but at a slow pace and with a different DM as Bloodgargler seems to have disappeared.

"Definitely good work." Vladimir says, agreeing with Garborn. "Let's gather what is salvageable, lay our Elven friend to rest, and then continue on our way."

I would assume we move a bit further away from what remains of the drake before setting the evening's camp. Scavengers and all.

Vladimir shrugs, conceding the point. "The wyvern was surprisingly good. Do what you have to do, Garborn. After that, we should see what we can do about finding this creature's lair."

Vladimir curses under his breath while continuing his oratory as he shoves his swords into the ground and pulls his bow, taking a shot.

Vladimir rushes forward, aided by Nico's spell, while continuing his story of the evils of certain types of dragons.

Once in position, he challenges the beast and strikes.

Vladimir moves in closer to the roaring creature, beginning a rousing oratory detailing the stories of gallant warriors of the past striking down evil dragons.

Begin Bardic Inspiration. +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Given Garborn's warning, Vladimir pulls and readies his blade.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Pretty sure I'm moving that oppressive expectations penalty to Perception now...

"Forest drakes are the degenerate cousins of green dragons, possessed of cruel cunning but little actual wit. It will be tough fight, but I believe we are up to the task, my love."

I believe those spots on the map were provided by Tiressia without much explanation. Memory could be faulty though.
