Backstory:

Vincent Delaney wasn't really a prodigy child more than he was a hard worker. From an early age, he was drilled with the importance of having a goal and working hard to achieve it. This, more so than exemplary intelligence, was why he graduated at a young age from high school. But he didn't stop there, he quickly moved onto college and got his Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences.
But that wasn't really his goal. It simply was a stepping stone to put him in the position to enter the Marines as an officer. He entered the ranks of the few and the proud shortly before the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as an officer. Given his degree in Computer Sciences, he was eventually put in charge of the Intelligence Specialists unit. It wasn't a glamorous job, hell it was honestly a boring job to him but with the down time he continued his education using the perks given to an Active Duty military member and soon had a Masters in both Computer Sciences and Electrical Engineering by the end of his first term.

He did well for himself, keeping out of trouble, continuing his education, spending his money wisely and saving most of it once he erased his debt. By the time it was time to re-enlist, he had a small sum in a nest egg and simply dumped his re-enlistment bonus directly into his savings account. His second term took him to the Military Police side of things. He spent a year in Fort Leonardwood training in the basics of the MOS, meanwhile he kept busy by taking extra college classes in the same field. To say that he was was a focused man would be an understatement.

Upon Graduating and getting assigned to oversee his new unit, he met his first wife. Both were assigned to their respective countries units on base in Camp Panzer Kaserne, Boblingen (Germany). She only had six months left in her enlistment at the time they met and they bonded over their love of animals. Vincent had been lucky indeed to have been put over the unit he was, as the K9 unit was also under his command. Though it wasn't exactly common for an Officer to work amongst the Enlisted, Vincent found the experience to be enjoyable and often was found learning under the Staff NCOs of the K9 unit.

Amelie and Vincent began dating openly once her enlistment came to an end and soon they were married (mind you after a fair bit of inquiries and paperwork) in the second year of his second enlistment. And for the most part their relationship was good but the strain of Vincent's almost obsessive drive towards his goals eventually weighed heavily upon their relationship. It was close to the end of his second enlistment when he was deployed for the last time and his tour was extended a full year past his EOS. His wife had already moved back to the states, a full citizen before the deployment.

Vincent had hoped that the deployment would end on schedule, but like most, it ran over and by the time he came home his wife had moved on unable to bear the issues of being new to the country, dealing with her aloof husband, and adjusting to civilian life. He made it home, only to find divorce papers on the table and his wife completely moved out. He understood and did as she asked. They sold the place and both moved their separate ways. Vincent moved on to El Paso.

He wasn't sure what he was looking for, or hell what he wanted to do with his life at this point. This was the first time he'd done something without really a plan in mind and with the recent changes causing him to rethink his life, he chose El Paso as a gateway to transitioning from the military life back to the civilian world. He'd still be able to talk with and hang out with the people he called family while slowly spreading his wings and finding purpose once again. Such as it was that brought him into the Rodeo Bar and Grill most weekends. It was only three months he'd moved to El Paso and already he was turning into a regular, though despite the waitress's attempts, he typically only kept to one or two scotches a night. Still living mostly off his savings, Vincent contemplated what he wanted to do with his life while laughing and watching the college kids and hanging out a bit with the Enlisted who frequented the bar.
