Liberty's Edge 2/5

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

My playgroup has recently converted to Core and we're enjoying the new atmosphere. Overall the experience has rekindled our enjoyment of Pathfinder Society Organized Play(admit it, constantly keeping track of updates, revisions, new books and the whole mess is exhausting)...

The only issue we have is with Poisons in Core. While poison is included in the core rulebook, they are barred from use via this citation:

How do poisons work in Pathfinder Society Organized Play?

Any character with the Poison Use class ability can purchase and use poisons. For now, they are the only classes that have a list of “always available poisons” (those noted below)—no other class may purchase poisons unless they appear on a chronicle sheet. Alchemists, ninja, and poisoner rogues may only purchase the following poisons from the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook:

Giant wasp poison
Large scorpion venom
Medium spider venom
Shadow essence
Small centipede poison

Paladins, per their code of conduct, may not use poisons, but they don’t necessarily view the use of poisons as an evil to be opposed—it’s simply something their code prohibits them from doing themselves.

Alchemists and rogues with the poisoner archetype and the Master Poisoner ability can use Craft (alchemy) to produce poisons (see "How can alchemists craft in Pathfinder Society Organized Play?").

One of our players was looking forward to using poisons(he modeled a fighter/rogue after Game of Throne's Red Viper of Dorne), even taking into account the possibility of poisoning himself and cost of use.

I guess I'm typing this up in hope of allowing poisons for purchase - not as an Always Available item but as something opened for purchase by Fame.

Cheers.

even Mithral would be better than wood its 3x as hard and has more HP. Just wanted to know if it could be made to Metal instead of wood for the ability for special materials

Liberty's Edge

I did have a DM try and sunder it with a dragon while i was using it as total cover preparing for its breath weapon. Its not like im upset about it, it was about the only thing it could do to try and get to the group but the dragon had adamantine claws and if it wasn't due to poor rolls the shield would have been destroyed. I play a phalanx fighter so my tower shield is almost half my ac and if a DM gets the hair up his backside it could be a vary likely target to do that instead of trying to get to hit me 1st. Now i have been taking the favored class feat to get a bonus vs sunder and disarm so it makes it harder but, I would just like to have clarification on the material because if i had my way it would have been made of steel vs wood and in many home games I have played in i was always allowed to pick the material.

Liberty's Edge

I was just wondering if a tower shield could be made into a different material besides wood. The Core book says it is made of wood but i would like to have a tower shield made of either mithral for weight purposes or adamantine for purposes of using the shield as total cover and making it much more difficult for sundering the shield. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
