SPELLS & SPELL-LIKE ABILITIES Bloodline Arcana (Su): Whenever you cast an evocation spell, you may select one affected target that fails its save to suffer the choking airlessness of the void, silencing it (as silence, but affecting only the target) for 1 round.
Black Motes (Sp): At 1st level, you can summon a rain of black motes as a standard action to fall in a 5-foot column, 30 feet high, with a range of 30 feet. The motes inflict 1d4 points of cold damage + 1 per 2 sorcerer levels. A Reflex save negates this damage. The save DC is equal to 10 + 1/2 your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier. You may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

TRAITS Reactionary: You gain a +2 trait bonus on Initiative checks.
Campaign Trait: Boarded in Varisia: Traveling from lands far to the north, you likely have little experience with the jungle, its denizens, or its strange forces. Just as the lands of Garund are wild and exotic to you, so are you to them. This unusualness manifests in one of two ways. Choose to gain either a +2 trait bonus on all Bluff checks made against inhabitants of the jungle, or treat your spells with the mind-affecting descriptor as being +1 caster level higher when cast against creatures and natives of the jungle.
Vazio is a Halfling of average height and weight. His most striking feature is his eyes. They are completely black, with no whites or other detail present. He is dressed in a worn traveling outfit, and carries a staff.
PERSONALITY:
Vazio is rather quiet and very observant. He has a strong sense of his purpose in life, although he could not articulate it to another person. He is decisive, and once set on a course of action, has a strong drive to see it through to the end. Having been a slave, and hence powerless, he is now very much enthralled with his new sense of power, seeking both to exercise it and expand it. Though not inherently evil, he may commit acts with no sense of remorse against certain persons (i.e. slavers) that may make other, more noble characters, uncomfortable.
BACKGROUND:
Vazio was born a slave on a small plantation in an obscure corner of Cheliax. He was a pretty typical Halfling, hard working and upbeat. He was employed as a field hand, his days filled with long hard stints working the crops (Mostly beets. To this day, he can't eat a beet without getting physically ill.)
When Vazio was still a young boy, the plantation owner died of natural causes. The owner only had one son, who had moved to Korvosa to study theology. He had no interest in running a plantation. Because of this, and to pay off some debts the owner had accrued, the son sold off the plantation and all its assets. Vazio was sold to another plantation in the area. His parents were sold to a family that had decided to try the life of colonists, and were preparing for a move to Sargava. The separation deeply affected Vazio. He has never heard from his parents, but he holds out hope that they are still alive.
Vazio spent several more uneventful years working for his new owner. He was eventually sold again, to another plantation that was several days journey away. As the caravan was traveling to the new plantation, it was attacked by a roving band of goblins. The human caravan drivers and several of the Halfling slaves were killed in the raid. However, a few managed to escape. Not wanting to take a total loss on his investment, the new owner hired a group of mercenaries to track down any living escapees. Only one mercenary ever returned, recounting a very strange story. When they found Vazio, he was sitting on a rock at the top of a barren hill, staring off into the night sky, muttering to himself. The first indication that something was different was that his eyes were completely black. When the mercenaries moved to grab him, he calmly looked up at them and said, “No. I am done with that life.” At that point, several large black orbs shot from his hands, engulfing his attackers. Only the one man survived, but he still talks of the nothingness that killed his companions.
After that, Vazio gradually made his way into Varisia, dodging any Chelish authorities on the way. He eventually made his way to Magnimar, where he sought passage to Sargava. If asked why he is traveling there, he will explain that he is trying to find some trace of his parents. However, that reason comes from his former life, and has less influence on him than his true purpose. The real reason for the journey is his new found power. He wants to understand it, explore it, and most importantly, grow it. Sargava is as good a starting point for this as any.
