Sense Corruption (JR)

Effects: Space Marines active within the Acheros Salient
must continuously deal with human forces that are exposed
to the taint of Chaos. The vast majority of these humans
have no inherent resistance to deal with the horrors that they
encounter during the ongoing conflict. Because of this, it is
tragically common for them to fall prey to the corruption
of the warp. There have been numerous instances in which
Space Marines unexpectedly fell prey to attack from allies
who had been turned to the path of the Ruinous Powers.
Some Battle-Brothers choose to devote time to studying
the effects of corruption upon the mortal form. They closely
examine Inquisition records and even participate in the
interrogation of heretics taken as prisoners. This extended
study and exposure can grant them an additional ability to
detect those mortals who have taken their first steps upon the
path towards Chaos. A Space Marine with this ability gains
+30 to detect falsehoods and untruths, as well as deliberate
attempts to conceal allegiance. Furthermore, any time the
Battle-Brother is in the presence of an artefact that a human
has used in the service of Chaos, he may make a Challenging
(+0) Awareness Test to immediately sense its presence.
Improvement: When a Battle-Brother with this ability
reaches Rank 6, he becomes even more aware of the subtle
cues that accompany the Chaos taint. Any time that he socially
interacts with a human character, he may choose to make a
Scrutiny Test with a +20 bonus against the target’s Deceive.
On success, he immediately becomes aware if the target has
any sympathies towards the Ruinous Powers.

Solo and Squad Mode Abilities:

Solo -
Iron Hands solo mode abIlIty:
Suffer No Weakness
Type: Passive
Required Rank: 1
Effects: Space Marines of the Iron Hands Chapter find
strength in bolstering their bodies with augmetics and bionics.
Harnessing cold fury and hatred into their assaults, the Iron
Hands are powerful warriors. Once per combat, the Battle-
Brother may select a single enemy. For the duration of the
combat, the Battle-Brother gains the Hatred Talent against
his chosen foe and gains a bonus to Damage equal to one-half
(rounding up) of his unmodified Intelligence Bonus.
Improvements: At Rank 3, the Battle-Brother gains the
Sturdy Trait; the Battle-Brother must possess at least 4
cybernetics. At Rank 5, all Interaction Skill Tests used against
the Battle-Brother suffer a –30 penalty; the Battle-Brother
must possess at least 5 cybernetics. At Rank 7, the Battle-
Brother gains the Undying Trait; the Battle-Brother must
possess at least 6 cybernetics.
Note: For this Solo Mode Ability, The Flesh Is Weak Talent
counts its level as an equal number of cybernetics. Thus, a
Space Marine with The Flesh Is Weak 3 and 2 cybernetics
would count as having 5 cybernetics for the purposes of this
Solo Mode Ability.

History:

Clash of Vengeance: Fought face-to-face with Chaos Space Marines of the Emperor’s Children Legion. These renegades are bitterly hated by the Iron Hands for their role in the death of Ferrus Manus, the Iron Hands’ Primarch, and there is no mercy in any battles between these two forces. He lost limbs to warp-infused weapons and had his lungs burned up by death gas.

Acheron Salient: Fought against Sigmartus forces, who were backed by the tech-heresies of the fallen forge world of Samech. He implanted more and more augmetics to replace damaged flesh and to add 'necessary' capabilities.

Ordo Malleus: During a joint Ordo Xenos/Ordo Malleus operation against xenos using maltek (species current status: purged), his studious dedication to identifying, understanding, and eliminating tech-heresies were noted by all Inquisition elements involved. He was granted additional training in techsorcism rituals and techniques.
