While training at a bard college there was an incident, the trauma from it destroying even conscious memory of the event and leaving her without her gift for singing - or much of a recollection of her life before at all.
But now she is followed by a glowing blue ectoplasmic fox-faced kitsune friend. Her best friend, though she does not recall anything of how they met. She just knows that Siseop is a phantom because of the thing that happened.
The same thing that turned her bardic spell casting in to something silent and internal.
Her friends from before, for whom she retained little affection, cry for her - the friend they had is gone and the broken thing left in her place is a stranger to them.
