Sovereign Court 2/5

I have seen new alternate rules and feats in APG that fits to my character better than core rules that I built my original character on. What I think would be something to consider is to expend PA with your faction to retrain. Just a thought, I think it would prevent people that like to change constantly for the sake of twinking, but allow people to change when they feel it is important to their character.

Well, I just played in my first pathfinder mod, at a table with 4 other brand new level 1 characters. We hit the problem that a mod tuned to provide a challenge for level 1 characters with additional gear, or level 2 characters, can easily prove overwhelming to a table of pure new level 1 characters. Just as a loosely worded example, to hopefully not be a spoiler....a level 3 evil cleric in an enclosed space's channel energy feature can easily drop said party with a single AoE.

Now, I'm not sure if PFS has already done this, but I know Living Arcanis did..and if PFS hasn't, they should seriously think about it: An entry mod, that you can only play with a stock new level 1 character. That way the mod's difficulty can be specifically tuned to a table of brand new level 1 characters.

That specific encounter has caused a lot of grief to players in every tier, hopefully that encounter doesn't sour PFS for your new players.

I would take this question to the RPG forums instead of the organized play (PFS) forums.

I can't vouch for what scenarios and times that my friends can play, but if you post the events here, I'll spread the word. Good luck.

You are in luck! My friends and I comprise a group of ten people that play pathfinder on a regular basis in West Lafayette. I'm going to inform them of your games to see what they want to do. I will post more when I speak to them further.

I have been in a few games where logical avoidance of fights led to loss of gold and gear.

#14 Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch:
My group disabled a monk running away and let him go after getting the MacGuffin. We left without item access because we didn't beat the guy down and take all of his stuff like thugs.

#12 Stay of Execution:
We talked a halfling gang leader out of fighting with us, losing his loot. In the same hour, we refused to kill the gargoyle that was helping the party, so we missed his loot too.

I was a player in both occurrences, so I'm not sure if that is what the adventures say or if the GM was mistaken.

I agree with you on the over-power of that encounter.

Spoiler:
The GM may have screwed you even more than just the zombies. The Cleric's tactics said to use the channels to heal the undead, which is much less killer. Compared to the rest of the encounters in that module, the third encounter was much more troublesome. I've heard mutterings of multiple TPKs at Gen-Con. My group had to stop halfway when our tier 6-7 party was drained down to 1st and 2nd levels.

I assume the permanent spells are disallowed to keep continual effects from spanning multiple adventures. If that's the logic, then continual flame would fall along the same lines.

I would have to agree with you on that point. Also, I'm not sure what the situation with DM's was(i saw almost every table used in each slot) but the "real" tickets for the adventures sold out in every slot i attempted (except in the one case i ordered a day and a half ahead). I would love to see TPS expand into a better gaming room.

I found that it was an ideal event for organized play. The OP that RPGA does is very mechanics/combat focused, but the modules and setting that The Pathfinder Society provides allows for RP and in-game thinking. The fact that each different faction has a side-goal in each adventure provides interesting gameplay. Also, the politics in the game are just under the surface of the setting, not too much to cause difficulties with other players, but enough to feel like a member of your faction.

Can't wait to see the rule changes
