Male Hobgobblin druid 2

The town is the best choice, we just need to set a defence before they reach us.

"Now I know how many there are it's best that we leave".

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

I don't think we have left the mournland yet.

Ur-Kaim is able to find a broken spear, which Hruskin is able to cut and fit to work for the banner.

Ur-Kaim, you now have a "Shoot Me" Banner!

somtimes that's the price for glory

He could also use artificer's touch to mend the breastplate if you'd rather that?

Fashon a harness if you could because I can't use the breast plate (metal) without loosing my ability to cast spells.

You're having trouble attaching it to your leather armor...perhaps if you had a breastplate...even a darkwood one...

Is there one on the battle field?

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

I will attach the banner to my back so it will fly unfurled and still leave my hands free.

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Are we heading back out of the mournlands? If not we might just want to build a cairn out of the bodies and retrieve them when we do leave.

"I want the noxious smokesticks and the acidic fire. The quiver, the blade and the spell book will do me no good".

"AKESH DHAKHAANI!"

"I am Ur'Kaim warder of the wild and keeper of the purity of Dargun".

I will tkae the banner and hold it high, "AKESH DHAKHAANI!"

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

I will take my pick of the magic items after the others are finished.
I approach the banner bearer, “Kaego Dhakaan your duty is done I will take your burden from you, I will proudly carry the banner when we reclaim the missing sword and return it to Kaega'ko”.

Ur-Kaim casts produce flame and throws it at the nearist warforged ranged touch attack=13, damage=4.
I also have Voolfi guard me me for now (he will attack anyone who attacks me).

I draw my crossbow and begin looking for a target, Voolfie at my side.

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Everyone stay together we don't want to loose sight of each other in the mist. We should also double march away from here, the Warforged are likely to come back with reinforcements.

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Ur-Kaim casts summon natures ally (wolf) into L7 and comands Voolfi to L9 and has both attack the warforged in L8.

Hey ranger we might get there quicker if you let a druid lead.

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Lets sneak around the gathering stone while he not here ;)

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

It is a time for stealth not brazen displays. The Denith are assembling a small army at the stone, do you believe our seal will garner more loyalty from their recruits than the money the Denith puts in their pockets?

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Karuush are parasites. They will follows us into the mornlands and try to steal our prize from us when we are weakest. It is best we not let them know where we go or that we are even here. Haruuck, your pride will endanger this mission and place our heritage into the hands of the pinkskins.

1. hard march
2. myself or Draxel on point
3. just prior to dusk (allows for a wider view of surrondings)

6. hot camp until we reach less populated areas, then cold camp

Is there an apothocary in town that sells healing potions, tanglefoot bags, sunrods and such?

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Before sun rise Ur-Kaim will kick the gobblin out of his bed and travel outside of town and preform the 'greet the dawn ritual' and choose his spells for the day. After he will go back to the inn and get some breakfast.

any one have suggestions on spells I should take?

Male Hobgobblin druid 2

Ur-Kaim will take his share and then with a lusty tone in his voice " "Whench it's time to try some of your fresh 'meat'".

What can you tell us of the rumors about the mournland? I hear tales of fogs the eat flesh, dead that fight their last battle over and over again and even stranger things.

Ur-Kaim Losens his short swords, gives a short wistle to alert his wolf to be ready for a fight, stands, steps away from the table and adresses the bugbears, "I believe you here here looking for me, a raven has told me to expect you. Do you come with violence as your goal"?

Getting ready to run part 2 of the Dragon's Demand for PFS and I'm not sure that I'm understanding something.

Am I supposed to run the actual auction or just the combat portion?

If I run the auction, do they keep the items bought at the auction?

Normally, if the Chronicle sheet states something like "You did X in the game and now get this awesome boon...", then if the player(s) did X, then they get the boon. "Day at the Auction" states something like that -- "...you bid on and won an exceptionally rare item...". The problem that I have with this is that just above that it states "Choose one of the following boons and cross the other off..." Which kind of makes it sound more like the player did (but didn't really) do the thing in question.

Does the GM get both boons? :)

And I still don't get the 4th Chronicle sheet. If the players/GM go through the "non-sanctioned" scenarios, they're supposed to get this sheet. But there's three different "subtiers" and by the time the players complete the whole thing, they should be well past these levels. So do they get all three? As they reach those levels? Or do they only get one of these gold rewards?

It just doesn't seem all that clear to me...

Scarab Sages

I'm reading the description and I'm reading the description and I'm just not getting this...

Burn --
"For each point of 'burn' she accepts, she takes 1 point of non-lethal damage." I get the "...non-lethal damage...", but not sure what "accepts" means in this case. Based on other threads I've read, it sounds kind of like a sort of "pool" of points that I would be able to fill up and use from. So, would I take the damage as I "fill up" the pool? So, in theory, I could basically start the day with one point of "burn" stored all day and essentially be down my level in hp all day. And if I never use that "burn", I'm still out those hp, right? (I think that part of my confusion comes from their limitation on how much burn they can accept each round -- which kind of feels like it's something that's being used rather than stored.) And I don't get the hp back once the burn's been used, right? Once the burn's been used, can someone heal the non-lethal damage? (Or can they heal it while I have burn in my "pool"?)

Gather Power -- If I haven't "accepted any burn" yet, can I still use a 1 burn blast wild talent using Gather Power as a move action?

Elemental Overflow -- So it sounds like this is some kind of additional effect while I have at least some "burn" in my pool. (Although "...at 16th level with 7 points of burn..." -- that's like 112 non-lethal hp of damage right to begin with? ouch.) What if I use my burn for some other ability, does the overflow go away? (or is it reduced?) Are there other "passive" benefits to having a pool of burn but not used?

Things like "Flesh of Stone" -- ..."By accepting
1 point of burn, you can increase the DR by 1 until the next time
your burn is removed..." Not sure what the "next time my burn is removed" means. If I've "accepted" 1 point of burn, does that mean that as long as I have the 1 point of burn in my pool? Or am I using the burn to gain this ability?

Thank you for any clarification you can provide.

I was looking to switch homeowner's insurance from company A to company B. B needed a form from A listing claims and showing that I wasn't paid on one of them. In ten years, I've had two claims.
1 was in 2009 -- people broke into our car (smashing the window) and stole two cameras. Hoping I might be able to get something back, I asked if the homeowner's insurance would cover the items stolen. They eventually said that they would cover $40 so I said "forget it".
The other claim was recently for a new roof.

Company B said that they won't cover me because I've had two claims in the past three years. Ok, kind of -- I mean, I wasn't paid a single dime on one of the claims.

So, from my point of view, my car got broken into, I lost my cameras, got buttkis from the insurance company -- AND still got penalized further just because I asked the question to my insurance company.

How in the world does this make any sense at all?

Scarab Sages

I was looking for this to have been addressed and couldn't find this anywhere.

The Disruptive Spell description says...

Benefit: Targets affected by a disruptive spell must make concentration checks when using spells or spell-like abilities (DC equals the save DC of the disruptive spell plus the level of the spell being cast) for 1 round. Targets that avoid the spell’s effects avoid this feat’s effect as well.

What if the spell doesn't allow a save -- rays and magic missile come immediately to mind. Is the concentration check DC the same as what the spell would have been if it allowed a save or something else (or not at all)?

Short background (not wanting to do anything illegal).

My wife is doing transcription work and was given links to flash video interviews. Typing out these interviews in this format isn't the easiest/best way for her and she asked if there was a way to get her just the sound file. I'm not sure that it's easily possible, but thought I'd ask here.

Scarab Sages

Ok, so it looks like we are looking for a player or two.

Information on the campaign can be found here.

A few restrictions...

If you don't know me (or the other players), then "no" you cannot join.
If I don't know you, then "no" you cannot join.
(I'm not using this to "meet new people". With 200 "friends" on FB, I don't really need more. This for me is a way to give additional interaction with people I already know. So, sorry if you don't qualify due to both the above. All I can say is -- work on that first and see later.)
And I will be selective -- if 20 people want to join, it's not simply going to be "first come, first serve". Again, sorry.

Anyway, we have need of a fighter type (or two). Current level is 8th level with Pathfinder build rules. This is meant to be kind of a "tour of the planes".

If you are interested, let us know...

Scarab Sages

Some of you know more than many help desks. So I thought I'd ask here.

Is there an easier way to...

I have a large spreadsheet -- One of the fields is a person's name. I'd like to associate one "branch" for about 20 of the names. Another branch for another 10 different names. And so on.

I've started doing -- If this person then this branch, if this person then this branch, etc. It's a bit tedious. Is there a way to use "OR" with this? Something else I'm missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Scarab Sages

I need a pdf "printer" installed right away. I know that there are a number of free ones out there -- what would you suggest I use?

Scarab Sages

Thought that might get your attention.

;-)

Our home internet connection went out recently and we are looking at potential options to upgrade and/or change our situation with our internet connection and/or phone(s).

Basically, we're looking for the best package out there.

Right now, we don't have cable TV and don't really care to have it at this point. Most shows we want are already being streamed on the internet legally and those that aren't we can generally rent/borrower from the netflicks/library.

We don't have cell phones, but feel that we should try and have two. (Actually I have one, but work has been paying for it and they are cutting me off.) We don't talk on the phone a lot. (Also a consideration is that we seem to be in a "black hole" even though we are in the middle of town. We usually have 1 or 2 "bars". That guy who is always saying "Can you hear me now?" never came to my house.)

We've been using a DSL modem for internet and have a land line.

We really need the internet (and soon -- the withdrawal symptoms are getting bad). We need at least one cell phone and possibly two. We are kind of indifferent on a land line for a phone line, but it might be nice since cell phones aren't always the most reliable at our house. And we don't really care about cable TV.

So, what do you think is the best "package" out there? What do you use? Is it worth it?

Whatever you were doing … you’re not doing that now.

Spoiler:
What you were doing just before this is really up to you. You weren’t involved in anything that absolutely needs your attention. i.e. You aren’t taking care of children by yourself, etc. But you might have been tending fields, dancing with a lovely lady/man, or something else entirely. Regardless of where you were or how you were dressed, you suddenly find yourself here fully equipped. You also find that you have all your spells/charges/whatever that you might have used previously that day.

Isn’t magic cool?

You suddenly find yourself in a room. The first things that you probably notice are the creatures looking at you menacingly. You see a couple of Yuan-Ti looking rather shocked to see you. The smaller one in back is seems to be yelling at the larger one.

Draconic Speakers – Vortik and Vassago:
She seems to be blaming the big guy for your appearance and for the disappearance of someone else. Eventually his confused look is replaced with anger and he says that perhaps one of you will work in his place. Followed quickly with a command to the other creatures to attack the newcomers.

There are also two of these creatures which you are unsure of what they are. The big Yuan-Ti hisses an order and they move in to attack.

A few other things you notice as you take in your surroundings. You are standing in the middle of a magical circle of power of some kind. It was glowing right when you arrived and is quickly fading away. (Marked on the map with the yellow circle.) It also looks like the big Yuan-Ti just dropped a big sword (and was looking at his hands and sword in pain and confusion). There are bookshelves along the North wall which are on fire. The South wall has a shelf with various objects/vials/potions/jars/etc. on it. Many have been smashed and the shelf unit is also on fire. There is a table in the room with a number of papers/scrolls/etc. on it and it too is on fire.

Here is the map

And with that, we have initiative…

Yuan-Ti – 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Aberrations – 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Vortek – 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Lanwin – 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Elysia – 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
E. – 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Pinna – 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Vassago – 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

That was weird -- "Preview" lied to me.
Vassago then Elysia...

The world is in jeopardy (isn't it always), but not only the world but the multiverse as well. Someone (Something?) has found a way to "reboot" the world and is anxious to recreate things the way he/she/it wants. And they are tapping into the power of the planes themselves heedless of the consequences. Will the heroes be able to keep the multiverse intact?

I'm looking for six players for a PBP game. There are some people I'm offering this chance to first before opening this up to anyone/everyone. In addition, if I don't know you, the answer is no.

This adventure will start in Forgotten Realms -- mostly because it's what I know -- but it will quickly move to the different planes. This will be an opportunity for myself and the players to explore something I haven't done before and hopefully will be new for you as well. I also want this to be an opportunity for some people who often don't have many chances to play outside of being a DM. (I know what it's like to always be the DM.)

Word of warning -- I don't really know the planes (well at least as RAW). I may (and most likely will) modify some things to fit me. So if you have some preconceived ideas of how Carceri should be and would be easily disappointed if it isn't RAW, then you shouldn't play.

I may already have 6 people -- I believe that Urizen, Moorluck, Treppa, Taig, and Lynora have expressed interest. And someone else? Not sure. If we don't have a group soon, I'll put something on the "Connection" area.

Specifics.

Pathfinder system. You guys are "heroes" so we'll make you fairly powerful -- that and the planes are dangerous. 25 point buy. 7th level. I would like some backgrounds written up. If any of you know each other, it would be in passing or rumor only. You don't have to worry about where you're from or where you are. (I hate initial meetings and will start you in the middle of things.) Play what you want to play. While certain class combinations are certainly helpful, I feel that if an area is lacking, it's my job to make up for it in other ways. I will allow many/most things from 3.5 but will have to tweak it for Pathfinder on a case by case basis.

I'm looking for a way to do a double conditional sum and/or average from a list. (Or count?)

Think of it this way -- If I have a list of car salesmen, the type of car, and the commission made on each car. I'd like a fast way to give me a total and average of the Ford cars that Bob sold, the Chevy cars that Bob sold, etc.

Just thought I could use a little break from what constitutes as "norm" these days.

What is it called and/or where can I find a way to predict where the sun and/or moon will rise or set?

A little explanation -- I'm getting into photography a little bit. We have this giant landmark here -- called Pikes Peak. I would like to get a picture of the sun setting behind it or the moon setting very close to it but sometimes the sun/moon sets far North or South of the peak and so it makes it difficult to photograph that way.

I found a good site that gives me the times the sun and moon sets (which isn't all that accurate because the mountain range makes it appear that they set sooner than the site says they will) but I don't even know what I'm looking for to figure out where they will set.

Any help out there?

Just letting you know -- There is a skeleton invasion going on right now in KoL.

There was an event a little more than a month ago with an archeology site. It looks like Mr. Bigg found whatever it was that he was looking for (thanks to the Kingdom's help) and has managed to get an army of skeletons together to start attacking the poor town.

And so close to Crimbo season too...

Ok BT -- Just trying to figure out where you're coming from. (While using Sebastian's suggestion.)

"Minarchist" -- Sounds to me like a system where we would generally self-regulate. Do you think that is even possible?

I'm reminded of one of my favorite movie quotes -- "A person is 'smart'. People are dumb, panicy and you know it." I know I can take care of my self -- but what about the people across town? in the next town? across the street? I can homeschool, but the person across from me can't.

It just feels like "minarchist" would be ideal in an ideal world -- which I don't think exists. So where does that put a "minarchist"?

And no one told me.

In case you didn't know (and I only found out recently by accident) there is a new Red Dwarf out on DVD --> Red Dwarf: Back to Earth

Depending on what you are looking for out of Red Dwarf will largely determine whether or not you will like this.

First of all, it's only like three "episodes" -- however, it really isn't broken up and it's much better to watch the whole thing at once. It's more like a movie.

Second of all, there is no laugh track. Which is rather different for a comedy like Red Dwarf. Red Dwarf is not quite as slapstick as a lot of movies/shows and some of the best humor helps when it's pointed to that it's funny. There were a number of times as I watched it that I found myself asking "Is that funny?" and realizing afterward that it was actually a lot funnier the more I thought about it. It just might have been nice to have been cued to laugh.

The story isn't bad. It brings in elements from previous seasons as well as some elements from the books (if you're a really big fan). I don't want to say too much about the story to prevent spoilers.

Reading the reviews on Amazon made me a bit nervous to buy it. It is quite a bit different than most of the other seasons. But what surprised me the most was that none of the reviews that I saw mentioned anything about Blade Runner. The back cover copy of the DVD says something like "the crew from Red Dwarf find themselves back on earth in the 21st century and in classic Blade Runner style..." and when I read that I said "well what does that mean?" I absolutely loved Blade Runner. The number of allusions to Blade Runner was amazing. They really did a good job making fun of this classic sci-fi movie while still giving it the respect it deserves.

If you've never seen Red Dwarf -- Then shame on you.
If you've never seen Red Dwarf -- Then don't see this one. See all the seasons first.
If you have seen (and enjoy) Red Dwarf but haven't see Blade Runner -- You probably won't "get it".
If you have seen and enjoy both Red Dwarf and Blade Runner -- You really should check out this movie.

It's that time of year again. This will be my third Crimbo. My first Crimbo was when the Crimborg tried to assimilate Crimbo. Last year, the Penguin Mafia tried to collect Uncle Crimbo's debt which he spent on bad "investments" resulting in poor working conditions for his Crimbo elves -- making mutant elves. Uncle Crimbo lost last year and it looks like the Penguin Mafia is now in charge of Crimbo -- and still want to collect their money.

Make sure that you go to Uncle P's Antiques on the Wrong Side of the Tracks. It looks like we need to get the hobos to collect money for the mafia. It should be interesting.

If you haven't played in a while (or you haven't ever played), the Crimbo season is a good time to take it up again. The Pazonian clan has some nice items in the lounge and if you can manage to get a VIP Clan Key, we have a pool table and a hot tub. If you would like more information about Kingdom of Loathing the Wikipedia article has a good summary of what it is and how it works. Also, if you get stuck or are looking for more information be sure to check out the KoL Wiki.

Hope to see you there and have a great Crimbo season. (Hopefully with kneecaps intact.)

I so need to live here.

After reading this story, how will you live your life?

Scarab Sages

I generally try to avoid posting things like this, but here is something that I really feel we can all get behind.

Before I get too far into it, I want everyone to put aside their religious preferences, political affiliations, or any other baggage that they might be carrying. This is something that we should all be a part of no matter who we are.

We are doing a campaign to end human trafficking. It is hard to imagine that this is going on in the world that we live in. This is a crime that needs to be stopped. The buying and selling of people as slaves is an injustice that has been going on for far too long.

We have pretty much all worked hard to free slaves in our games. Wouldn’t it be cool to help do so in real life?

There are a number of organizations that are working toward this end. One that I am part of can be found here --> Break the chains. Our donation funds boast near 98% of giving goes to what the money is meant to go to. The only reason that I mention it is so that people will be assured where their money is going to. However, they have also posted a large number of other organizations that are doing similar work --> Here. I cannot necessarily vouch for them but regardless of how, we really need to end this. One other thing that I like about the one I’m part of is that it isn’t really enough to simply free a slave. We have teamed up with people that help to get them a home, skills to make money, and show them how they can live free.

Here is a powerful site that I am a little familiar with that is working toward a similar goal. Watch the video on the site and you’ll get an idea why we all need to work together to end this.

So what can we do? It takes roughly one thousand dollars to free a slave. That’s quite a bit of money. But large communities can really make a difference. If 200 people each give $25 we would be able to free 5 slaves and give then a new life.

If this is inappropriate to post here, then I apologize (and Paizo – please delete it)

If you made it this far in this post and feel compelled to give to an organization toward this cause – please do and thank you.

If you made it this far and don’t feel compelled to give – thank you for considering.

Regardless of where we are or who we are – together we can make a difference. I hope that you will join me in this.

In case you didn't know. We are still here.

If you don't know what Kingdom of Loathing (KoL) is, then read on...

Yes! Another time-waster - but this time, it can be played during conference calls and at work! Go forth to Kingdom of Loathing and join the Paizonians clan! (You have to be level 3 to join a clan.) It's funny, it's irreverent - you'll have a good time. Promise.

An awesome reference, with recipes and quest guides, is The KoL Wiki.

It's true! The Kingdom of Loathing is a wonderfully terrible way to waste your time. You too can fight dirty hippies, baseball bats (you know, they fly and look like a baseball), and harem girls. Eat until you can't eat any more but gain no calories! Drink until you're falling down drunk, but there's no hangover!

To begin, go to Mt. Noob and talk with the Toot Oriole. He'll set you aright.

And it's free.

If you haven't played and are looking for something fun and silly to waste time with, give it a try.

If you have played before, there have been a number of changes and additions that have been fun. They have added a number of high-level adventure sites that offer new skills and items. You can dive into the sea and fight funk sole brothers. You can go into the clan basement and beat up sleazy hobos. A few of us in the clan have a Llama lama familiar which gives us gongs which allow characters to take the form of a ... cockroach.

And all for free.

In addition, they no longer delete inactive accounts -- so if you haven't played in a while, it looks like all your stuff may still be there.

If you join the Paizonian Guild, you can get ennui-flavored potato chips. What more could you want. (Shoot me a message in game and I'll get you hooked up.)

Hope to see you there.

Part of our gaming group is moving away. We would like to keep gaming with each other, but a few thousand miles is a bit much to commute.

We would like to do something where we can game basically live (not play by post) via computer. It would be nice to include some kind of webcam (ala skype or similar) as well as some form of screen sharing. Add to that some kind of easy to use sharable map software to help with orientation for battles and that's essentially what I'm looking for.

I'm tired of waiting for WotC to come out with their platform.

Is anyone using something that is similar to the above scenario? Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it work well? How do others game with each other remotely?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Our group has been going through the Age of Worms and we are nearing completion. I'd estimate 3 more sessions. It's been a great run, but it has been a bit long -- the better part of two and a half years.

So I'm starting to look towards what next. I'd like to do a four or five adventure story arc -- mostly to keep from taking quite as long as the Age of Worms took.

I have access to most Dungeon adventures (prior to 4e). I'm fine converting things to our game so I don't care what edition or world the adventures are from. I've also been thinking I need to support my favorite spot for gaming (Paizo) but would like to narrow down my options so I'm not buying everything trying to figure out what would work best for me. (I'm not interested in doing Savage Tide unless I can do so with only around 4 of the adventures.)

So does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do after Age of Worms.

Inspired by the "What movie inspired you" thead.

I was watching Demolition Man last night. Every indication tells me that I REALLY shouldn't like this movie -- the acting, the plot, etc. But for some reason I really like it. I don't get it.

So what movies do you find that you really like even though they should be labeled as bad movies?

Help me out here. I'm not sure I fully understand this argument and would like some clarification.

Looking for two answers.

1) In what way are these classes unbalanced to the point of being "broken"?

2) How does this brokenness really affect game play?

This keeps being brought up and I'm not sure that I understand why it's such a big deal.

Scarab Sages 3/5

I'm trying to figure a few things out. Any assistance with this would be appreciated...

1) Taking a quick look at the 4 scenarios available so far, each one seems to be set up for two groups of "tiers". Tier 1-2 and 4-5. What happened to 3rd level? Will there be some later on that include a tier 2-3 or 3-4?

2) Do all the playing characters need to be the same level? Can I eventually have 2 at 4th level and 2 at 1st level? Can they be plus or minus 1 level? If I can have a range between say 1-5 levels, where does the tier issue fall? I would like to use this as a way to introduce others in our group to being the GM. Therefore it is very possible (likely?) that one or more will "fall behind". Hence the question.

3) I play with the same group of people. They will have the same characters for quite a while (most likely). Would it make sense to have a party adventure together from different factions or should I push them to all be part of the same faction?

4) The rulebook says that a "player" cannot play the same scenario more than once. Is that true or should it have said "character"?

5) Can a player have a number of characters from different factions?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

This is in regard to the Paladin's special ability Aura of Faith -- Page 22. (And possibly by extension, Holy Champion.)

Paladins are Lawful Good. Not just Good. I have had issues with this for some time. If Paladins are just "Good" Warriors, then make them so that they have options for different levels or types of "good". If Paladins are Lawful Good Warriors, then have something that brings out both aspects of his alignment. Make it so that Paladins have (at least) the option of smiting chaos or make their weapons lawful aligned for the purposes of getting past damage reduction, etc.

Mostly just an opinion, but Paladins are not just "good".

This is regarding most of the classes -- pretty much all of them except for druid -- so Pages 8-35.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not like the sudden power increase most of the classes get at 20th level? It has been said that the "sweet spot" of roleplaying is between like 7th level through 12th level. Right now, I don't think that there are any Pathfinder products that get up to 20th level (although I understand that may change). It just seems a waste to suddenly have all this ability that no one will really ever use. I understand that Jason and the designers are trying to make it desirable to get up to 20th level for each class, but while it may look good, is it really if you never get to play it? Suddenly at 20th level, you gain DR 5/- (when you didn't have it before), you gain immunity to sneak attacks and critical hits and you gain blindsight. That just seems like a lot that suddenly happens and that looks cool and fun, but that you won't ever really play since you are at the end of the career (or whatever).

It doesn't feel like a culmination of the plot (you have saved the princess) but rather like a new toy you can't play with (you now have a ray gun with no batteries).

Sorcerer Class -- Pages 27-32.

I haven't gone through all the bloodlines yet, but, is it just me or do the bloodlines seem to promote up-front fighter/sorcerers? A good majority of the bloodlines grant natural attacks or touch attack special abilities. The bonus feats that can be chosen include things like improved disarm, improved grapple, improved unarmed strike, cleave, improved bull rush, improved sunder, power attack, and so on (and those are just from the first two bloodlines). It feels like we are trying to create powerful fighters rather than sorcerers. If I'm a sorcerer, I typically blast things from the back. Why in the world would I want to take improved sunder as a sorcerer?

I feel that the bloodlines should promote the magical nature of the bloodline rather than the physical one for a sorcerer.

Druid's Nature Bond and Paladin's Divine Bond -- Pages 15, 16, 20, & 21.

I've seen a bit of discussion on these that it is really nice to have a choice not to summon a mount or an animal companion. I agree. I just think that they should get both. Getting the divine weapon only 1 time a day is nice, but would it really be that game breaking if he got it along with his mount? I also really like the idea of the druid getting a domain. But why shouldn't/can't all druids get a domain whether or not they have an animal companion?

I really don't think that is too much compared to the changes to the fighter or barbarian classes.

Scarab Sages

Cleric and Druid spells -- Pages 13 and 15.

I'm not sure how much this changes game play, but why reduce the number of spells druids and clerics get at the higher levels of play? That just felt like an unnecessary change to me. Clerics already loose their domain spells (but the new domains are a good replacement), but to loose more spells seems fairly restrictive for no reason.

Just more curious than anything.

Scarab Sages

Druid Wild Shape -- Pages 15-16.

This was kind of address in another thread, but not really.

I really feel like there comes a point where additional times a day no longer is really any kind of benefit. I mean, how many encounters a day is the druid really planning on coming up against for the day? And that is even assuming that the druid will want to wild shape with every encounter. I feel like even allowing the druid to wild shape "at will" at 16th level really won't change the class much if at all. I'm just not seeing that allowing the druid to wild shape more times after say around 4 is really that much of an improvement or benefit to the class.

Greater Rage and Mighty Rage -- Page 11.

"A barbarian must spend 2 rage points to enter a greater rage, and must expend 2 rage points per round to maintain her rage."

The Mighty Rage is similar.

Can the barbarian choose between the different rages? Can the barbarian say "I want to rage, but don't need to go 'greater' and don't want to use all my rage points yet so I think I just do 'regular' rage."? That could be useful but it doesn't say one way or the other. In 3.5 it is pretty well assumed that you don't have much of a choice (and not sure why you would want to go less in that case anyway). Assuming that you make it so that you can choose, can the barbarian switch while raging?

Scarab Sages

Swift Foot -- Page 11.

Just would like it worded a little better. Is it a bonus to her "base" speed? I believe that there are still some magic items or spells that might double the speed which would affect this. I'm assuming that it would increase their run speed as well appropriately (x4) and so on. Also, I'm not sure why you have a limit on the bonus to the speed. Is there really that much of an issue if they get +50 to their speed for 15 rage points? You might want to consider limiting the bonus based on the level of the barbarian rather than just saying no more than +30 feet.

Scarab Sages

Elemental Rage -- Page 10.

I thought that I saw a title that might have been about this earlier, but I couldn't find it.

A whole 1d6 extra points of damage? For 12 points? Ok, so it is with every attack, but still. At 12th level, he gets 3 attacks so on average he will do 10.5 points of extra damage -- assuming that all the attacks hit -- for 12 rage points. With powerful blow, he will get an extra 12 points of damage on the first attack -- the one most likely to hit -- for only 6 points.

Just feels a bit off on the power table.
