Special Abilities
--------------------
Aura of Courage (Su) A paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.
Aura of Good (Ex) The paladin has an Aura of Good with power equal to her class level.
Aura of Resolve (Su) Unalaq is immune to charm spells and spell-like abilities. Each ally within 10 feet of him gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against charm effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.
Called (1/day) Reroll a natural 1 on an attack roll and take the second result instead.
Channel Wrath Unalaq can spend two uses of his lay on hands ability to gain an extra use of smite evil that day.
Cold weather outfit +5 Fort save vs. cold weather.
Damage Resistance, Acid (7) You have the specified Damage Resistance against Acid attacks.
Damage Resistance, Cold (7) You have the specified Damage Resistance against Cold attacks.
Damage Resistance, Electricity (7) You have the specified Damage Resistance against Electricity attacks.
Damage Resistance, Fire (7) You have the specified Damage Resistance against Fire attacks.
Darkvision (60 feet) You can see in the dark (black and white vision only).
Detect Evil (At will) (Sp) You can use detect evil at will (as the spell).
Divine Grace (Su) A paladin gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws.
Divine Health (Ex) A paladin is immune to all diseases, including supernatural and magical diseases, including mummy rot.
Elemental Assault (1d6, 10 rounds) (1/day) As a swift action unarmed strike/held weapon is wreathed in energy and deals extra damage.
Giant Slayer +1 Bluff, Perception, Sense Motive, attack and damage against giants.
Greater Mercy When you use your lay on hands ability and the target of that ability does not have any conditions your mercies can remove, it instead heals an additional +1d6 points of damage.
Hard to Kill (Combat): Your strong will to live and spread good combined with your pure physicality makes you a tough opponent to take down. You may have discovered this as a child after a tragic accident or during the course of your first battle. When you are attempting a Constitution check to stabilize when dying, the penalty on the check is only half your negative hit point total instead of your full negative hit point total.
Holy Symbol The item has an aura that radiates from it serving as a MW tool for Diplomacy. Additionally once per week if below 30% health (40/123 hp) Unalaq can call upon the power of his god to protect him. This functions as a shield spell
Lay On Hands (Su) (11/day, 5d6): [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Unalaq can heal wounds (his own or those of others) by touch. Each day he can use this ability a number of times equal to 1/2 his paladin level plus his Charisma modifier. With one use of this ability, a paladin can heal 1d6 hit points of damage for every two paladin levels he possesses. Using this ability is a standard action, unless the paladin targets herself, in which case it is a swift action. Despite the name of this ability, a paladin only needs one free hand to use this ability. Alternatively, a paladin can use this healing power to deal damage to undead creatures, dealing 1d6 points of damage for every two levels the paladin possesses. Using lay on hands in this way requires a successful melee touch attack and doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity. Undead do not receive a saving throw against this damage.
Low-Light Vision See twice as far as a human in low light, distinguishing color and detail.
Mercy (Su) At 3rd level, and every three levels thereafter, a paladin can select one mercy. Each mercy adds an effect to the paladin's lay on hands ability. Whenever the paladin uses lay on hands to heal damage to one target, the target also receives the additional effects from all of the mercies possessed by the paladin. A mercy can remove a condition caused by a curse, disease, or poison without curing the affliction. Such conditions return after 1 hour unless the mercy actually removes the affliction that causes the condition.
- Cursed: Remove curse.
- Fatigued: The target is no longer fatigued.
- Diseased: Removes disease as per the remove disease spell (1d20+8 check vs. disease DC)
Radiant Charge When you hit with a charge attack, you can expend all of your remaining uses of lay on hands to deal extra damage equal to 1d6 per use of lay on hands expended + your Charisma bonus. This damage comes from holy power and is not subject to damage reduction, energy immunities, or energy resistances.
Reward of Grace Each time you use your lay on hands ability, you gain a +1 sacred bonus on all attack rolls for 1 round.
Smite Evil (3/day) (Su) +4 to hit, +8 to damage, +4 deflection bonus to AC when used. Once per day, Unalaq can call out to Tolc to aid him in his struggle against evil. As a swift action, Unalaq chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, Unalaq adds his Charisma bonus (+4) to his attack rolls and adds his paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of his smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level the paladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. In addition, while smite evil is in effect, Unalaq gains a deflection bonus equal to his Charisma modifier (+4) to his AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If Unalaq targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect. The smite evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time Unalaq rests and regains his uses of this ability.
--------------------
Appearance
--------------------
- Jet black hair
- Pale complexion, but usually flushed as if he had just come in from the cold
- Icy blue eyes
- Delicate facial features, almost Tien in nature
- Those within five feet of him often feel the temperature unexpectedly drop or the howl of wind or feel a bit of a tug on their clothes or hair.
- Carries the largest sword you have probably ever seen.
- Wears a holy symbol of Tolc, a beautiful piece of craftsmanship showing a pair of caribou antlers cradling a javelin of ice that is forever cool to the touch.
--------------------
Story
--------------------
- Born to an Erutaki woman called by a cold spirit, an auspicious union among his Erutaki clan.
- Raised on the Crown of the World, called by Tolc and associated frost spirits at young age.
- Clan destroyed by Frost Giants in the Giant-Downs who betrayed the agreements between the Erutaki and giants in search of magical power.
- Unalaq nearly died, but called back by Tolc.
- Unalaq and clan's spirit-talker were sole survivors, but shaman was mortally wounded.
- Unalaq crawled out from under dead giant covered in gold dust, giant was impaled by arcing tusk (signs of Tolc).
- Spirit-talker revealed vision of Unalaq's destiny in southlands (Sandpoint) and swore him to vengeance against evil giants.
- Unalaq collected giant's sword, his mother's javelins, and the holy symbol of the spirit-talker and headed south.
--------------------
Play Style
--------------------
- Will play as a bit fish out of water with Erutaki in Varisia. Likely not to get jokes at his expense. For sure he will not get any of the inevitable sword jokes until someone sits him down and explains them.
- Fascinated by the new cultures he is becoming exposed to. Very diligent about learning everything he can. Shows great deal of respect to strangers and expects the best out of them unless he finds them evil.
- Frankly bewildered by those that are evil, most that he has been exposed to has been the creatures nature (vengeful nature spirits) or madness. Choice to be evil is a new concept to him and he isn't fully sure whether they should be redeemed or destroyed. More clear with nature or madness.
- Strongly heroic, earnest and feels fated and committed to finishing oath sworn to spirit-talker.
Driven to destroy evil giants, especially those who break oaths, endanger innocents, or seek magical power
