Ulrich Rovanky

A hand in a spiked leather gloves holds the bow as it is drawn back by the dark skinned man. One eye narrowed he lets the arrow fly, piercing the knee, along with a large artery, of the man claiming to be the law. The man doesn’t even watch him fall as he turns his back, content on letting the loss of blood do its work.

“I tried to be quiet and still my hand. These are not leaders of men and I will not have it. There is a protest I know, <insert other player name here> told me. I will go find him and lend my voice and if necessary my bow.”

Ulrich is a third generation bow maker but you have to test your bow, at least his dad said, and to do that you better be a hell of a shot. So to impress his father Ulrich became one heck of a shot for a non-combatant. Fortunately for him he did learn to be a good judge or character and, more importantly, how to convince them to behave in the way he wanted.

If he is being honest he was not all that happy before martial law was imposed but it was simply life. Anyone living in a city makes choices as to how they will feel about their life but now it is different. The new laws go to far… much to far. He wants a better life and really how can that happen now. Sick of being circumspect, sick of just taking it he wants to help make it better,

“I am no leader, no hero, but maybe, just maybe, I can help others be.”

Five things I should know about your character currently.
1. Ulrich has never left Kintargo for more than one night. His family has lived there for four generation making bows and keeping their heads down.
2. Ulrich Uncle by marriage is a half-orc from Trunau, he was there to visit but has recently vanished with no trace.
3. While in no way a rebel Ulrich does have a friend, preferably one of the other players, who has been flaming his temper and told him about a protest.
4. Ulrich, in the past, drank way to much. He has no longer drinks but greatly fears relapsing if stressed.
5. Secretly Ulrich feels he can be the avenging hand of justice. An arrow from a distance can chance the world, in his opinion.

Four people in their lives.
1. Uncle Lork had been in town to sell some weapons he acquired from sort of business with the giants. Confined to a wheelchair the family was very concerned when Lork disappeared. They have not sent word to his wife back home yet.
2. Ulrich’s mother is still alive though very old, she had him late in life, and he does not want to see him go down the road of a rebel.
3. Ulrich is in love with a whore from his drinking days, Domino, she takes his money but does not love him. As a point of fact she finds his sobriety annoying.
4. Domino bore him a daughter that he does not now about. The daughter, Cleo, is mentally disabled (fetal alcohol syndrome by modern terms) and is in an asylum.

Three of their most prominent memories
1. Ulrich dreams, nightly, about his first night with Domino. He, well he feel down drunk, and she took him in. Given her profession she did what came naturally not knowing that, at 17, it as a first for him. He dreams of the dark haired elf most night.
2. A distance second memory is the first time he met his Uncle Lork. Lork came with a bow unlike any he had seen that he called “Jolter” that he had acquired from an old friend. The bow had seen battle but that is not what made it interesting,. The interesting thing was that the bow encased the arrow in lightning.
3. <insert other player name> came to him one night ranting about the toleration regime they live under. It was the night that Ulrich decided to stop drinking.

Two goals
1. The first is simple. Learn the secret of creating “jolter”.
2. “How does one reconcile his mistrust and dislike for the new regime with his desire to help his fellow man live a better life. How can a good man do bad to create good?” Ulrich will kill if needed but he needs someone to guide his hand. It could be <insert other player name> or someone else that knows how to make the change but someone must guide the arrow and it must come from one of his family’s bows.

One thing that gets your character out of bed in the morning.
1. If I stay in the house I will drink. I need to be up and out. I need not to drink or my arrows my find the wrong target.
