How would people feel if instead of saying no formation combat Chaotic evil settlements instead got some guerilla warfare formations which seem more suited to them....these would certainly help in defending the settlement but still convey the chaos theme?

Frankly I posted this not as a serious suggestion but merely because I am sick to the back teeth of bluddwolf trying to warp everything to bandit advantage and I regard a lot of what he has claimed to do as equally skirting the spirit of the game. I was merely pointing out that bandits aren't the only ones who can use the system to their advantage.

Surely part of the risk for a bandit is not knowing exactly what they are dealing with when they leap out to confront. You should know certainly that it is a carvan of 7 wagons...doesn't mean you know whats in them. Even less so with a lone character...who knows what is in his backpack

Sorry the merchants in this case aren't forcing the bandits to kill them after they refuse a sad. This just adds a little risk to the bandit when he has to decide whether or not to kill after a sad refusal. It may be a genuine bandit or it may be one of the decoys. As the eve players love to say in defense of the tactics they come up with "Its emergent game play"

having followed the PVP and settlement politics thread with interest it something zenpagan commented on sparked an idea so thought I would throw it out there

first assuming the following is right (which may or may not turn out true)

killing a non flagged char after sad refusal gets you on the enemy list

set up a small company of merchants that take donations from the wider merchant community. They wander the wilds with nothing of value till they find bandits refuse the SAD then when killed use the donations to sponsor bounties to reputable bounty hunting companies.

This way the merchants all find the roads a little safer. The bandits get the pvp against opponents that can fight back they desire and the bounty hunters get lots of content. Surely a win for everyone!!!

So just like in EvE, bandits (pirates) will have secret contacts (alts) to take care if their business in the settlements. Been there, done that, no real hinderence.

I hope you all wage war against each other, you will need plenty of materials and coin to do that. Gives us plenty of targets as well, because we will always pick a side in any war, we would be foolish not to.

Eve doesn't stop you getting training if your main cant get into high sec

Just because you pick a side doesnt mean that side will accept you, they may just as easily regard you as more people to kill. As I understand it neutrals will be free kill in the warzone

1 person marked this as a favorite.

alts wont help them with training and if a particular group become enough of a problm then I can see pressure being exerted on settlements that might train them to alter their policy and deny the training

I have moved on from that topic, and refocused back to the OP topic. New question:

I would also like to discuss here, the issue of Settlement relations with organized, non settlement chartered companies.

It is my thought that a non chartered company may not be bound by the reputation limits nor the one-step alignment restrictions.

What would the settlement reaction be if these unsettled wanderers actually represented a significant percentage of the server population?

I can't see there being that many unaffilated peeps around. For a start as I understand it they are likely to have problems in the training part. I read that training slots would be limited so I expect settlements will have a priority sort of thing going where they train settlement peeps first, then allies and just maybe if they have some spare slots they may let random peeps have them.

As to rep...if that is one of the things you can gate entry on then it will affect everyone wether visitor or member

We do but only gather notes so we know who to send those baked products too :)

Regardless of whether it is called griefing or not the devs have expressly said they wish to discourage random player killing....

form They shot a man in reno blog

Behaviors we don't want:

PvP conflicts where the death of the target means no gain for the attacker, i.e. randomly killing people for no reason.
Abuse of new players.
Players cooperating to game reputation and alignment systems to their advantage.
Players willfully committing crimes or evil acts under the shield of reputation or alignment penalties so onerous no one would try and stop them.

balding is mine

mere formalities I am sure :)

Possibly the biggest Guilds will claim these via Land Rush!!

So TEO get the prime location and everyone else gets to live in the swamps :) glad I applied to the right guild then

Ok thanks for the info

What sort of time zones are you guys in as I am looking for a home in the online game. Most groups so far seem to be US mainly :( and being in the UK it can be a pain if theres no one round to play with
