Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Wait for me!" Tristan jumps the chasm as well.

Take 10 on Acrobatics Check 10+5 = 15 (including dex penalty)

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan peers down into the chasm. He drops a lighted stone down there to try and get a sense of the depth.

"Perhaps I should go first." he suggests "If I don't make it across at least this damned ring will keep me from falling to my death."

Does it look possible to jump across the chasm? How rough are the walls, would it be possible to climb along a side wall to get across?

Hey everyone, sorry for going MIA there. Sometimes I hate my job.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan will check the box on top of the wardrobe for traps before searching it. He also suggests that they search the rest of the room and take the thunderstones from the skeletons hands.

Anyone want to carry the thunderstones?

Once we all fall into place, Kells leads the group back to the tube and rises back up into the main room. Once there he pauses to look at the sarcophagas. "So do you think that we can turn this and make a different lift tube work in one of the other corridors?"

"Well we won't know until we give it a try." says Loriel. "Let's try turning it to the right first, then left if that does not work." He gets in place with Kells and some of the others and they attempt to rotate the sarcophagus in place.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

On Tristan's initiative:

He hurls the other flask of holy water at the nearest skeleton.

Holy water attack on skeleton (1d20+0=10)

Wellard wrote:
which of the two doors are you opening..the western or the eastern?

Sorry I can't see the map at work. I was picturing a pair of double doors in my head for some reason. I will randomly say the east door.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan clears the muck away from the doorframe and proceeds to carefully search the door for traps (Taking 20 on his perception for a result of 26). Then he will attempt to disarm, unlock, open the door as needed.

"Everyone ready?" He asks before opening the door.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan nods at Gashelle's suggestion. "Maybe we will get lucky and find a scroll to remove the curse." he sounds unconvinced.

Tristan leads the way south back to the previous room and then into new territory. He begins searching for traps when they cover new ground.

Ugh. My AC is 12 now. Can I tell if the ring actually does feather fall, or is just cursed?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Mushrooms from hell?" asks Tristan skeptically.

"Well you were right about one thing Gashelle." he continues, "This ring is definitly cursed. It feels like I am trying to move through a room full of pudding." Tristan tries to take the ring off.

"We Should search this place. Try cutting open the fungus and also searching through the rubble over there." He indicates the fallen rocks in the corner.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan will take Gashelle's suggestion to don the ring of feather fall. Also we can assume that Avinar has the second bottle of holy water.

Tristan will lead the way down the north hallway to the next room(T2).

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan takes the arrows and puts them in his quiver. "I can put these to good use, I think." he says.

"Shall we continue on?" Tristan peers down both hallways. Unless he spots something in one of the halls, he will lead the way down the lefthand (eastern) hallway, checking for traps as he goes.

Preception to check for traps (1d20+6=9)

Party Loot:
1 unindentified potion
1 vial of suspicious green liquid
25 +1 arrows (Tristan)
1 large masterwork chainshirt (left in moldy room for pickup)
1 Scarab of Golembane (Gashelle)
1 wand of Burning Hands, 23 charges (Eltariel)
1 silver Ring of Feather Fall (cursed?)
1 Arcane scroll with ray of enfeeblement, slow (Sasha)
1 Qaal's feather token, whip (Gashelle)
2 metal flasks gnomish Holy Water
various semi-precious gems 10gpv total
6 topaz gems 20 gpv each
1 rough cut topaz 80gpv
1 gem 110 gpv
1 silver clasp 60gpv
1 silver ring 150gpv
3 bottles of wine (rare)
1 magnifying glass
1 gnome hooked hammer

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Drat! the best rolls are always wasted on untrapped and unlocked stuff!

"Oh, this looks interesting!" Tristan casts detect magic and consults with Gashelle and Eltariel on the possible use of the items.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan gives the other flask to Avinar, assuming he wants it.

"Leave the chain shirt by the door and we can pick it up on our way back out." suggests Tristan.

Then he goes over to have a look at the box Eltariel has found.
Perception to Search for Traps (1d20+6=25)
Disable Device to disable trap or unlock box (1d20+7=26)
Whoa! double 19s baby!

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Well that was exciting!" pants Tristan puting his rapier away.

Digging in his pack, Tristan pulls out the flasks of holy water. "I have both flasks of holy water here Gashelle. Perhaps someone else would like to carry one of them?" He places one in his belt pouch and offers the other one up.

Sorry, should be okay from now on, but go ahead and post for me if it is holding things up.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

so the attack of 10 misses then I presume?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan delays until after avinar has closed with the large creature.

Tristan tumbles away from the foe attacking him. (Acrobatics check (d20+7)=22) Then he moves to the large creature and flanks with Avinar if possible and attacks.

Tristans Attack: d20+1 = 10, 12 if flanking. Damage 1d6+1=7 Sneak attack damage if flanking 1d6=3 for a total of 10.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Sleight rewind if that is okay

Eltariel Elessand wrote:

"I'm afraid I prepared my magics for the possibility of an encounter in the wild. I'll be able to prepare more at dawn, though, and I have no doubts Tristan and Sasha will be able to assist you then as well."

Tristan over at Gashelle somewhat embarassed. "I'm sorry Gashelle, I didnt realize that you were still hurt. I can manage another spell tonight." Tristan casts cure light wounds on the half-elf warrior. Cure Light Wounds (1d8+2=8)

Tristan was fully healed by sasha's magic in the flooded tunnel.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

going back just a bit..
As the group sets about preparing dinner, Tristan pulls a gallon sized keg out of his pack. "I have had about enough of hauling this around!" He declares. "Who wants ale with dinner?"

After examining the scarab with the others, Tristan asks "So what does a scarab of golembane do, exactly?"

Sorry guys, I have been real busy at work lately. Even worked all three days of the holiday weekend. I think the worst is over now, but I may still be spotty on my posting frequency until the end of next week, around the 12th.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan looks back to where the others are waiting at the bottom of the shaft. The elf maiden seemed to to keep looking their way. "I don't know, you seem to be doing pretty well on your own."

"Although, I will say that you have to do something sincere to show her how you feel and not be afraid to look like a fool in the process. Sometimes fear of rejection is worse than the actual rejection. Mind you, this advice comes from a man who has been run out of town by 12 year-olds throwing rotten turnips when I was experimenting with my 'puppet-show phase'."

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Well maybe we should search the crayfish cistern as well since we are already wet." unless it was obvious from looking that there is nothing there.

"Also do you think you could manage to catch some of the little buggers for dinner?" he asks Eltariel.

If no one else has already, Tristan will search the shorter passageway.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1
Gashelle Smith wrote:

"Okay. Does anybody have any i- idea what those were?"

Seeing Tristan searching the long branch, she adds, "Tristan, th- there was magic under the surface th- that way."

"The creatures seemed to acutally be made out of the water!" Tristan says, "If I were to guess, I would say some type of minor being from the elemental plane of water, perhaps?"

Tristan completes his search and finds the golden scarab. He casts detect magic to confirm that it is the source of magic that Gashelle noticed. "I found something, but examining it can wait until we get out of this hole." he says.

After being healed by Sasha, Tristan trudges back to the others. "My thanks, Sasha!" he says "Whatever those things were, they pack quite a wallop!"

Has someone else already searched the other passage?

Wellard said 75% of max for hp I believe.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Is everyone alright?" Tristan asks in dim light of the flooded passageway.

He will resume his search for the cause of the glinting light.
Taking 20 on his perception roll yields a 26

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

So I assume this leaves the initiative at Avinar turn, then Tristan?

Tristan will go ahead and cast his cure light wounds for the measly 3hp then.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

If the creature hits Tristan again on its next action:

Tristan takes a step back from the creature and casts cure light wounds on himself. cure (1d8+1)=3

Otherwise:

Tristan takes step to flank with Avinar if possible and attacks the creature with his rapier. Attack (1d20+1)=18 +2=20 if flanking; damage (1d6+1)=3

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Since the water is shallow enough to leave his arms free, Tristan exchanges his dagger for his rapier. Then he makes his way down the flooded passage, checking each footstep for a hidden drop off that would plunge him into deeper water.

When he reaches the area where he saw the glint, he stops to search the area throughly.

Taking 20 on Perception Check to search 20+6=26

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

When he reaches the bottom, Tristan waits for the others to descend the slippery stairs. Those that are coming anyway, so far myself, Avinar and Eltariel confirmed.

Tristan points down the left hand passageway "I saw a glint of metal down that way. Be careful, it could be another clockwork construct."

Tristan then draws his dagger and lowers himself into the water. If it is shallow enough to walk he will proceed slowly down the passage towards where he saw something.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Now, that Avinar has joined him in the tunnel, Tristan turns and makes his way down to the waterline, checking for traps as he goes. (Perception to search for traps (1d20+6)=19). He also picks up a small stone or bit of debris and casts light upon it.

Assuming they make it to the water without setting off any traps, Tristan tosses the light stone into the water to try and determine how deep it is.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

On the way back to the cart room, Tristan gives the Burning Hands wand to Eltariel. "Just be careful where you point it, won't you?" he asks.

Taking off his heavy pack, he finds a dry spot to set it down. Then walking back over to the previously hidden passage he climbs up on the cart and into the passage way. "Who else is up for a swim?"

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

The strange piercing cry draws Tristan's thoughts away from dinner. He closes his eyes and listens intently to the sound, trying to determine its source.

Can Tristan tell which corridor the sound came from?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

After examining the wand, Tristan says "This seems to be a wand of Burning Hands, as far as I can tell."

Tristan goes back over to the cistern and eyes the swimming crawfish. "Do you think we can catch some of these Eltariel?" he asks. "If I recall correctly they are very tasty when boiled in beer!"

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan looks over the wand embedded in the clockwork arm of the smashed statue. "I may be able to get it out of there, if I just turn this like so, and pull this cog over to the left ..."

Disable device to remove the wand? Check (1d20+3)= 20

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan reaches for his lute instead of his weapons this time. Singing an epic ballad, he inspires courage in his comrades.

+1 to attack and weapon damage rolls. Also +1 to saves vs fear.

Sorry to go MIA on you there, the weekend turned out a lot busier than I expected.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan looks around at his new companions. "Shall we call it a day or venture a little further?" He asks, "Keep in mind that we still need to find a secure place to sleep for the night."

The wardrobe contains some very moldy cloaks and a locked metal box. One cloak still has a silver clasp in the shape of an apple (valued at 60 gp.)

Tristan casts detect magic and examines both the clasp and the metal box. Assuming no firetrap like aura: he then searches the box for traps and then attempts to either unlock the box or disarm any traps as needed.

Can't get to invisible castle from work. Wellard can you make the rolls for me?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Perhaps, or some experiment gone bad. This looks like the remains of some kind of alchemical laboratory." Tristan muses.

How long ago does this explosion appear to have taken place?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan moves over to the overturned wardrobe and performs a quick search of the contents for anything useful.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Considering the two passageways before him, Tristan decides to take a look down the passage on the right hand side. "Let's have a look down this way, shall we?" he says over his shoulder.

More Trap Checking (1d20+6=20)

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Hmmm, I guess sometimes a statue is just a statue." says Tristan. "Well lets have a look down this next tunnel."

Tristan proceeds cautiously down the tunnel past the statue, searching for traps as he goes.

The half-elf warrior's question draws Tristan's attention over to the opening. "Help me move one of the carts over there." He says. Then a few moments later, standing on an upturned mine cart, Tristan searches the tunnel opening for traps.

Perception Check to search for traps (1d20+6=13) Can I use the magnifying glass to get a bonus?

How big is this opening and is it the only obvious way out? Does the normal passageway continue on?

Tristan looks over the items found in the wrecked mine cart. Picking up one of the metal flasks, Tristan asks the others "This appears to be holy water, do you think the miners were concerned about meeting the undead?"

Next round on Tristans turn:

Tristan moves back to engage the cart and attacks again.

Round 2 Attack on cart. (1d20+1=12, 1d6+1=3)

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan, turns back to face the way they came. The animated mine cart was now behind him. He quickly moves next to the enchanted menace (to location G2) and strikes with his rapier.

Attack and Damage rolls (1d20+1=10, 1d6+1=6)

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

I assume the loading dock area is raised?

Tristan jumps up on the loading dock (move action to J5) and draws his rapier (standard action).

Can he get a better look at the gnome statue from here?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

"Alright then, here we go." says Tristan.

He moves carefully but quickly across the slippery algae to the loading dock. moves to location I5

From there he tries to get a better look at the statue.

Acrobatics Check to maintain balance on slippery algae (1d20+6=19) if necessary.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Or perhaps Tristan knows some lore regarding such slime.

Knowledge Dungeoneering to know anything about slime (oozes) (1d20+3=7) or perhaps not.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan nods, willing to continue on for at least a while longer. He continues down the corrido , alert for the next trap.

Perception to search for traps (1d20+6=11) Or maybe not!

Avinar wrote:
Avinar pats Tristain on the back "For someone just comming along for a story, you have saved our hides many times now, I thank you".

Tristan grins at the elf's compliment "Why thank you Avinard!"

BTW his name is Tristan - an :P

"You may have noticed" Tristan chimes in as he renews his light spell, "That I also know a bit of arcane magic. Nothing so fancy as formal wizard training mind you," he rolls his eyes as he teases Eltariel, "but I have picked up a few tricks here and there. Also, I do have a pretty good knack for using magical trinkets." Use Magic Device of +7

How are we doing on time? We marched almosted a whole day before getting here right?

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1
Wellard wrote:
Yes I'd assumed he had picked it up and that he would have had to hand it to Eltariel for her to examine it. Mind you with a + 10 spellcraft Gashelle is going to be the real godsend to the party for Identifying stuff, Sasha I'm sorry that doesn't seem to have been much for you to do so far

I thought under Pathfinder rules appraise was used in conjuction with detect magic to identify items. It says spellcraft can be used to identify spells being cast or to prevent losing a spell when you are damaged during casting. Also I think my previous use of knowledge(arcana) was correct instead of spellcraft to identify certain types of magical auras. Not trying to be contrary or anything, just trying to get it right if we are playtesting the alpha rules.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Unless it has be changed mage hand only works on non-magical items. I assumed Tristan would have to pick it up to examine it, so we can assume he has already done that.

Male Human Pathfinder Bard 1, Rogue 1

Tristan once again casts detect magic and examines the silver ring attempting to discern it's magical properites. "Hmm I am not sure what affect the enchantment on this ring might have."

Appraise Check to Identify magical silver ring (1d20+6=15) probably not a good enough roll since the dc is 15 + caster level of item.

Party Loot So far:
3 uncut topaz gems 20gpv each
1 rough cut topaz 80gpv
various semi-precious gems 10gpv total
