My suggestions would be to drop Imp. Rapid Shot at level 18, and pick up Greater Manyshot.
Also, Darkstalker (from LoM) would be better than Imp. Toughness. Another good choice would include Nemesis from BoED IIRC. Darkstalker will let her hide from Ex. senses like tremorsense and scent. Nemesis will let her detect a chosen fav. enemy, which will be good for AoW where you know you will have a main type of monster. Also look at the Spot the Weak Point skill trick and/or any other skill tricks.
I don't remember much about AoW in terms of monster type, but good suggestions would be A: anything that can't be Crit. normally except for oozes. B: Outsiders or C: Aberration, Dragon, or Human.
Edit: Don't forget that Sneak Attack Damage doesn't apply to ranged attacks.
Good luck to both of you!

So, is the giant talking stone head actually a sentient construct, or just an excellent use of Major Image?
Oh, great refrence! I wasn't quite sure until you mentioned the monkey. Oh, so many people couldn't finish the monkey! It brings up great memories of me as a young kid waking up early on saturday morning at, say four or five o'clock, just to watch those shows before the cartoons. That one, and DoubleDare 2000.
The monkey would be a great addition to the AP somewhere.
PS: The stone head is just animate object and magic mouth.
pming wrote: Oh, I don't know...how about *any good force on the face of Oerth*!! Just a shot in the dark there. ;) Yeah, but they would have to spend time convincing them that: A) the threat is real, B) the PC's are able to take on Demogorgon, and C)it is any of the NPC's concern or that they can do anything to help. The main reason the people in "EomE" are helping is because they are gaining something in return. Whether it be revenge, power, or something else, everyone stands to gain.
Also, the PC's get connected to the diffrent allies through a series of plausable events (ie: Charon->Iggwilv->Everyone else). What connection would the PC's have to anyone on the Prime? They've been stuck either off world , on a island in the middle of nowhere, or on a ship most of the adventure path.
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, especially if the Prime the PC's are on have very interesting NPC's, but how do you fit them in without taking up all the time the PC's have?
pming wrote: LOL! Nope. Not gonna happen. Period. Even if the PC's sit back and do absolutely nothing. Why not? Almost no one else knows about the tide, and even if the PC's shove it in everyone's faces, there will be very little time for them to do anything to stop it.
pming wrote: "Haha! I destroyed the entire world of Greyhawk! POOF! Hahaha...now I'm a god!". For sake of argument, lets say Demo succeeds in becoming a god. Guess what? At that exact moment he becomes tied to the "Godly pact" (not sure exactly what it's called). You know, the one where deities aren't allowed to interfere directly in world affairs?... Demogorgon isn't trying to become a god (though some may claim he already is one); he is trying to unite his heads to become a single, focused individual who isn't underminding himself, thus becoming a bigger threat than ever before.
Thanks everyone!
I was just trying to find alternatives for PCs whom either cannot, will not, or are just not diplomantic enough to deal with anyone in "Enemies of My Enemy". I know that the theme of these last few adventures is 'How far will you go to stop a greater evil?" or "I must ally myself with a lesser evil", I thought that some character ideas would make it impossible to make the final fight seem plausable.
After all, pushing a character is a good thing. Punishing the players because of a interesting character choice or theme because it doesn't suit a pre-published adventure? That's just bad DMing.
Also, there are some good suggestions in Dragon #358, both of whom to look for and who to advoid. (Hiring 'loths is one thing, as long as you keep them in front of you where you can see them. Asking them for help? Then you need a diffrent type of help, one that gives you a very fashiable wardrobe and comforatable living quarters)

Since Socothbenoth is the demon of incest - maybe he and his sister are lovers? This could add another layer to their alliance - making them akin to Graz'zt and his sometimes lady love Iggwilv.
No offence, but you obviously don't have the book. It is very obvious that they are. If fact, though I don't have it with me right now, I think it says it blatently.
Of course, I don't know why she puts up with him and his donkey ears (I did look over the book today, though!)
Mild Spoilers (But if you weren't ready for them, you shouldn't be reading any of these threads)
If a DM was willing to, what other allies or help could the PCs aquire? I'm think that the Midgard dwarves should be willing to make a really good weapon or some fine armor for the anvil the PCs recover from Redfang. Or at least get a good discount on something. Beyond that, I'm a bit stumped on who would be crazy enough (or hate Demogorgon enough) to lend overt help. Any ideas are welcome!
Also, what about attacking Demogorgon's army, allies, and weakening him personlly?
Lastly, Baur, this is a superb adventure! James, those stat blocks scare me! Thanks and Applause to both of you.
Actually, if I ever get a chance to run this AP, I'll probably stick them as a annoyance in the beginning of Serpents of Scuttlecove between the Isle and Scuttlecove. Not as a real challenge, but as a slowing tactic. They PCs are in a hurry, and any distaction will be really irritating.
I doubt there will even be combat, just seeing them, then their sails catch on fire or something. And Demogorgon's symbol etched into the side of the ship during the night would be upsetting too. Nothing high-level adventurers can't fix quickly, just pesky problems.
Note though, while "The Phorphory House Horror" is a great adventure, it is marked "mature". Now, I'm not one to talk, being like 14 at the time of reading it. And, no, it didn't really bother me (though more of the sexual parts went over my head, I must admit.)
But it is a very nice adventure, but it has a problem with the pages. They were all connected together, so that one has to cut the adventure open, making it very messy if done inexpertly.
James Jacobs wrote: The others were supposed to be Orcus and Malcanthet, but they don't really look like them. The painting's still super-awesome anyway, though! :) Can't disagree with you there!
Yeah, I can see the one closest to the dwarf as being Malcanthet without the horns.(Why is it that every time I see her name I think malcontent instead of pronouncing correctly?) But I'll still claim that the winged one on the back row looks more like Fraz-Urb'luu than Orcus. Big bat wings, skinnier than Big Boy, and a round head are all very distinctive, if acidental. Though he does lack the ears.
Hey, I got a question about the cover, and I thought it would be better to put it here than to make a new thread.
Question: Who are the black figures on the board? (All positions referenced from Iggwilv's side, and assumes that she is playing white) I recognize Demo in her hand, the heroes in white, Obox-Ob on the back right (Black Queen position or Q-8), Dagon on the third row from Iggwilv's left (White Queen's Bishop-5), and who I think is Fraz-Urb'luu on the back row two over from Obbie (BK's B). But I don't recognize the other two. Comformation please?
I thought it was pretty interesting that the PC's, should they think of it, could make the whole job easier by capturing Gorgant, retreating back to Iggwilv's manner, and giving him to her. I'll doubt she'll mind, and it saves some of a battle. Then they can go back and free (and catch) the other Aspect.
And, James, I have a question about the Flask. If I remeber right, in previous editions, there was a cummulative chance of turing CE everytime you used it. If I'm correct, why did you drop that? Also, how far can the holder of the flask control and command the called fiend?
James Jacobs wrote: Would an index, split into sections organized by game edition/campaign setting and then alphabetized by adventure break many hearts? That would work, as long as you include the level.
An searchable pdf would be great, though; even if it didn't have extra content. I might even buy a pdf of the magazine just to get that. If I wasn't poor, it would be a definite.
Mike McArtor wrote: Er... I think I'm probably WRATH. No, that's just the envy of anothers mastery of a sin overpowering you.
Sorry, but you just proved the OP right. ;P
Well, my first priority would to majorly group it by level of party, then by edition, then by campaign setting alphabeticly, so that FR would come before GH and after EB. So that it would look something like this:
.........11th level:
.............3.5ed
.................A Name - Setting Neutral
.................D Name - Setting Neutral
.................A Name - Forgotten Realms
.................Ba Name - Forgotten Realms
.................Be Name - Forgotten Realms
.................A Name - Greyhawk
.............3ed
.................ect
.........12th level:
...............ect.
All of the rest of the random articles should either be grouped in numerical order, or by groups, such as creatures, 101 lists, ect.
Thanks for asking, and to tell the truth, I've been needing to make one of these since my tenth issue, so this is a big help.
JHG
Uncle,
I love you!
You are like a father to me! :P
JHG
Which is one reason I'm not fond of the Delve format.
Mr. Jacobs, would it be possible to release the first three and the new two as a PDF? Maybe for around ten dollars?
Hey,
I just got issue 140 today and was looking over it, and likeing what I saw until I hit the "Tapestry of Midnight" sidebar. There's a small typo that has large consqueces if one of the factions or the PC's gets hold of it. The side bar says "The Taperstry allows the owner to control up to shadows at a time."
So, how many shadows can one control?
PS: I meant the title to be Errata for Issue #140
Thanks for the help, and I'm going back to reading this magazine.
Thank you! A quick response and kind service proves to me once agian of your excellent service. Thanks once agian
Have a good day;
Josh
Hello,
I've a subscription to Dungeon magazine, and I did not receive issue #138. As it is now on the stands, I was wondering what had happened.
I believe that you have all of the needed information from my account.
Goodday;
Josh
