Same boat here, been looking for a group to be a player but my schedule isn't great for gaming (I get out of work at 7 --and if the game were to be outside SF, I don't have a car, so you can imagine at what hour I'd be arriving...) If there's anything within SF, I hope my schedule doesn't intrude that much!
Good luck in your endeavors. I know there are some Paizonians who live in California, but the only one I know personally is in San Diego. He's an evil pony lawyer anyway, so would probably only try to get you to sell him your soul. Hmmm... I pretty much still need my soul to go to Calistria eventually, so I guess I'm not up for it... Damn.
Well, I'm already kinda used to it being one (gamer) myself, although I admit that the prospect is slightly dangerous. And we absolutely need a "housing" forum.
So, as a guy that's looking for a new place, I visited your typical websites for that (CL, Hotpads and whatnot) but I was thinking that it'd be better if I actually got a room with gamers/geeks or whatever classification you like the best. That's what brings me here. Since we don't have a "housing forum" or something, this is the thing: I'm looking for a room (and a gaming group too) in San Francisco. I know that this is far-fetched, almost impossible for me to get an actual result out of this, but at least I'm trying, huh? Also, if this doesn't belong to this category, well, I have NO idea where to place this. So, sorry if I missed it.
We have a PF game down in San Jose on Fridays. Also a 4th ED game out in Tracy on some Saturdays, we carpool from San Jose. As a newcomer to.the country, I don't know if I will be able to, but thanks! I'll have to check just how feasible it is for me transportation-wise (in downtown sf), taking into account that I work mon-sat.
I thought of opening a new thread for me, but this gives a bump to this thread, so... Giving Orannis preference, I'm also LFG in San Francisco. I'd love to volunteer to be a DM, but my english is often not within an acceptable level of fluidity to have a game running with a half-decent pace, so to avoid frustrations... As a player, too.
Yeah, we all work or go to school as normal (except for this year, I think schools are closed due to the ZOMG H1N1 hype)... Here, the most important days are the Mexican Revolution (Nov 20) and Independence Day (Sept 16). But if that means tacos, huaraches and mexican food to be eaten, I'd merrily celebrate it! If that also means tequila and piñatas, well, even better. I'll quote Foamy The Squirrel: "I personally love the idea of beating the s#!@ out of something and then getting candy in return." By the way, if you ever manage to get to a restaurant that serves real mexican food beyond tacos and stuff like that, there's a mexican dish called Chiles en Nogada. Try it =D
I don't like using Lord of the Rings nor any other too-well-known fantasy movie soundtrack, I want players to feel they're in XXXX, not in Middle Earth. But that's me. There's no music that's a bit unknown but has THE fantasy touch while at the same time screaming "this is epic" like Shadow of the Colossus's soundtrack. It's just amazing. Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack isn't only cool, as a bass-player admirer, almost all tracks have some seriously classy bass. Since I currently run a d20 World of Darkness game, I use that, Dune's Spice Opera and No More Heroes' soundtrack. Also, Rondo Veneziano's Zodiac is excellent for any setting, in my opinion. For Dark-mood settings I found that any Legacy of Kain has a decent soundtrack (Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain and Defiance). Forgot to add: Castlevanias usually have good soundtracks, the ones that were composed by Michiru Yamane and were for consoles, not handhelds.
Wanna know something unfunny??? A guy came to work, his eyes are reddish, his lips swollen and has fever. There's no law to make him return home and he insists on being here, at the office. I'm between beating him dead at the first zombie-like grunt/moan or running like hell the moment he sneezes. If this weren't Mexico I'd be less worried -_-
I wish for a pocket-dimension that I can travel to and from at will with the property that while within my pocket dimension nothing ages, similar to the effects of the 3.5e astral plane. You travel to the Pocket plane. That plane has everything that people put in their pockets... unaged. You try to swim among a torrent of bubblegum wads, bread crumbs, sketches, napkins with jotted numbers and a few R-Rated liquids. Your passage in and out of there, though, is perfectly safe. I wish I were a pirate ninjaaaa!
By the way. Those who love sharpies but don't like the ink going to other pages, the japanese made the undersheet for that reason. They're cheap, usually, and if you happen to like japanese TV, you can find it with images, if not, just random stuff for your Shi+ajiki. EDIT: Deleted the URL, code hates me.
Thanks on the ones wishing health. I'm going Biohazard here, mask and gloves. Shotgun and crowbar still pending, but I work on a hardware store (not the computer kind of hardware), so that shouldn't be a problem. On the other hand, so far, authorities are saying that death because of the virus is due to the fact that people dismissed it as normal flu and didn't get checked until it was too late, for Mexico has enough vaccines and the virus is controllable if found early enough. Let's hope this gets controlled, I'm amazed of how many countries have gotten it so far. Stay safe, all of you.
Where I live, we've had no cases so far, but I'm getting my stuff ready just in case our dead come back from the grave and this turns into a zombie movie, 'cause it feels like it. There are almost no flu medicines left, nor facemasks left in town. But I wouldn't know. I have family in Mexico City and they tell me people are going ballistic. I live far away from DF (Mexico City), since I swore I'd never be back to that part of my country unless my life depended on it. Échale ganas, Montalve, y buena suerte con tu hermana =D
I've allowed a ring of true strike, modeled after the ring of invisibility. I think I priced it at 10K, but like the ROI, it required a standard action to activate, just like the spell. This effectively reduced attacks to every other round, and my players weren't too keen on that. I would allow this version only, and they'd (the players) consider themselves lucky; in Magic Item Compendium there's only a "3 charges per day" item, I'd find this one far more useful, due to the fact that no full attacks are permitted one after the other, because it'd be too much. I don't like charges for items unless they're absolutely gamebreaking, like the +1 property Impaling (3 times per day the attack is against the touch AC), that's a good example.
