Background:

Tlugos was born to the Matron of House Ilmeefein during her establishment of a branch and outpost below the lands of distant Tian Xia. The result of a tryst with a powerful merchant warlord of Chu Ye during her visit to that nation of evil oni. Hoping for a half fiend with blood ties to both her own house and a local power with similar taste in domination. To her disappoint and anger she bore a tiefling, a creature of weak blood in her eyes with little to no value. She sent her misbegotten son, another slight being his inferior gender, to his father. The wind yai's first instinct was to kill or sell the child, yet he considered the entire thing carefully. Ever the wicked opportunist he thought to use his new son in the future, that is if he was to survive until then. He handed Tlugos to a pair of human servants to care for until he was old enough to be properly molded. So did Tlugos grow up among slaves and their oni masters, protected from death by his father's name yet little more then that. Naturally the human slaves would be expected to maintain their work as well as care for Tlugos which left the young oni spawn with much time to himself. As all children are want to do, he explored the world around him as soon as he was able. His first adventure outside the sad hovel of his caretakers saw him beaten by older child slaves, for no other reason then their hatred for the blood in him.

Such was Tlugos childhood one of near endless violence and mistreatment. Ever a inverted creature he looked for answers from with in. It was this nature that saw him rise rather then crumble. He hardened his mind, body, and spirit through sheer will and observing those around him. Learning not only from his own experience and watching others he made a point of learning what his body could do. Finding that his oni blood offered things his human tormentors lacked. One day the men, having grown into adulthood while Tlugos remained mostly a child came to beat the little oni as they called him. Only this time he ambushed them instead and with his first strike bite off a chunk of one of the men's shoulder. No longer intent on beating him, they sought to murder. Only a thunderous chuckle froze them all with it's dread power. Tlugos father had long ago found out of the slaves that dared to insult their betters by beating one of their blood. While the wind yai cared not at all for his son, nor would he had interfered had a oni truly desired to kill him, he would not abide an insult or slight. Even a fellow oni would pay in gold or a gift for the death of his son as a sign of respect, yet for mere slaves. He would teach a lesson all oni enforced upon unruly slaves, death and nothing less. With a single world he blasted the lot of them with lightning, leaving only the smell of ozone and burnt flesh. He looked upon his son, how he had endured and grown. It showed promise and potential, he wisked him away to the best local fighting school. Run and attended by lesser oni, mostly kuwa oni, enrolling Tlugos. He left both the master and his son with a clear assignment, Tlugos would leave the school a success or not at all. The kuwa master was delighted with the arrangement and plunged Tlugos into training at once. Personally feeling that the half breed would not last he made no exceptions in his routine to account for a non-oni. Tlugos single minded devotion saw him not only survive but gain upon his classmates, despite their collective disdain. Tlugos seeming indifference only provoked them further, yet the master did not suffer diversions. Finally Tlugos graduated and again his father arrived only to grant him another challenge. To infiltrate a Mizi Ki Hikari cell and gather information to help bring about it's destruction, this certain cell was interfering with the wind yai's trade and slaves.

Leaving nothing to chance and crafting a introduction of sorts, the wind yai had Tlugos attacked near a known member. Merciless and informed that he no longer enjoyed his fathers protection of his life in any manner. Tlugos fought with everything he had against the lesser oni, killing more then a few. Still he was out numbered and overwhelmed, forcing him to flee. Predictably the rebel offered aid, which Tlugos wearily accepted. He joined the rebels shortly and after a few years the cell was destroyed with the information provided by Tlugos. With this latest test completed and his loyalty proven, he was accepted into his fathers clan. This meant while many oni no doubt thought Tlugos a lesser creature, they would not treat him or grant him any less respect then one of his rank was afforded. This also granted Tlugos a freedom he never had before as he no longer was focused solely on survival. He took the time to travel the dragon empires.

He learned much in his travels about other nations as well as himself. In the Forest of Spirits he aided a kami in battling a hobgoblin possed by an evil druid bent on plaguing the forest, in return the kami taught him how to use his ki to shield himself with the flesh of the forest. In Xa Hoi he learned and some would say stole the traditional martial art of that draconic empire. While among the Minata isles he came upon a hidden village atop a volcanic island where the fire infused fighters put him through trials that would allow him to wield their sacred flames. Should he fail he would be found unworthy and his life forfeit. During his time in Quain he crossed paths with a man with crippled legs, offering him the technique that had earned his rivals scorn in exchange for vengeance against the rival. Accepting the offer he used the leg skills learned to kill the dishonorable rival. Finally their came a time in his travels where he was contacted by his clan to return. It was on this journey home that he encountered his mother's minions, surprisingly enough they had been sent to escort him. For his absent mother had learned of her tossed aside son and his growing prowess. He declined the escort and directed any response or request to his father as head of his clan. The drow did not take kindly to his perceived disrespect and decline, they attempted to subdue Tlugos. Resulting in their defeat, being a hard fought battle and seeking reparations for their actions he took much of their supplies and valuables. A few weeks later into his journey home he camped in a cave. When he awoke he found himself imprisoned.
