I say, I agree with our Illuskan friend here! We are hardly what one would consider a subtle group. Besides, I for one would feel a bit better about following the laws, at least the ones that are easy to follow and are harmless.

AH, hpmh well tally ho! he enters the portal

quite, I say, we can follow up on this later. I just didn't feel quite right with it all.

apologies, I thought I was still being a bit jostled in the crowd, otherwise I would have moved toward the building and blocked the other three(trying to get about 35-40ft away from them, or most of them), readying an action to cast burning hands if the three close in more. ofc he is trying to get as many in the AoE as he can, if it comes to that.

Tiberius moves closer to the building.

now look, I understand you may be upset, however I strongly recommend you chaps compose yourselves before someone, ahem, you, gets burnt, as it were. Now, what say we sit and talk this out hm?

persuasion?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Next action.

Str: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

W/ advantage? str: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

alrighty then, can I at least move further away from the two moving towards me?

Tiberius shoots a jet of flame along the ground infromt of the the incoming group.

I would move no closer than that friends. staying just out of 30ft from the group

intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

bit confused, the protestors are chasing after the guards that took the man meant to be hanged away?

After about half a minute Tiberius tries to push his way through the crowd once again to get out the front.

Strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 advantage?

the dragonborn can't seem to push his way through the crowd, likely due to not wanting to be too rough and rude to the people surrounding him.

I say, please, pardon me. Just, trying to. Why, I never! Bloody hell pardon me!

ah, very good then I say!

Just to note, he would have tried to hit it -before/as- the man pulled the lever if possible, if not thats fine, would still have done it.

because the dragonborn never claimed to not get himself in trouble

Hearing the mans proclamation Tiberius attempts to save him by cutting the rope tied to him with a bit of fire magic. He stretches his hand out, above the heads of most in the crowd and utters a few words in draconic before a small jet of flame shoots from his hand.

firebolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5

whether he managed to hit the rope or not he then lets the crowd push and pull him around to hopefully mix in and be lost in the mob before trying to make his way out.
strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

with little success due to having let the crowd carry him a bit too much.

would we have been within 60ft of this? I was wondering if Tiberius would have had a chance to cast feather fall on the man.

I say, what is the hubbub all about? I'm quite curious, I say we try to get a closer look!

Tiberius speaks to the group.

Have fun

and can will do

Then lets be on our way. No time to dilly-dally and what not.

The dragonborn heads towards the door, using what knowledge he has of the city from staying their a year to hopefully get around. Never did get particularly good at that.

I'm honestly not sure of what to do next other than "we leave with the book, heading towards the place we need to go" I'll post something shortly however to try and help things along.

NPC:

Hmmm, yes and no? She would likely have plenty of money and time to do so. Well, at least money. She may be out looking for Tiberius, as he hasn't exactly kept in touch save a note he left. And I think planar travel would have been something Tiberius stumbled/researched on

Whether you introduce them or not is up to you. I don't have many either way

NPCs:

Tiberius's sister:

His sister is lively and energetic. A couple years younger than Tiberius she is more than a tad bit furious that he left her with all family stuff to deal with and then disappeared with hardly a trace. She believes in honoring traditions when possible but also believes that new ideas should be welcome (that's sort or a family trait) she is attractive, at least, to dragonborn. And is fiercely independent (likely a side effect from her situation) but believes the clan and family are some of the most important things in a life. Another reason she can't understand Tiberius up and leaving. She holds most of the family wealth, which, is(or at least was) quite considerable. She has innate magic, similar to but different from her Brother.

The "Entity":
If you ever want to let this come, feel free to pick an old one at random or make up your own!

The dragonborn stutters a bit then clears his throat. poppycock! Nothing better to do... indeed! I say, this distraction has caused enough a delay. Ehem. However. I must admit to finding myself intruiged and, do believe the book should be returned. In exchange for a, rather roomier place to work I believe this minor task I can accomplish post haste. Besides, I've been meaning to visit the Automata myself actually.

He looks around the room and starts a bit. ah, where are my manners. I am Tiberius Veilbreaker. I'll spare you my family name as it seems most denizens either can't pronounce it properly or mispronounce it out of spite or jest.

weird? Hah, poppycock I say. Stranger things abound in this universe... though I must say, a book was... unexpected. Ah, um tell me, exactly why you need to go there ?

The tall, golden scaled dragonborn moves around the cat. His Green eyes darting from the cat, then back to the rooms of the building.

I must say, if you are the speaker good cat, I've seen, and hrm experienced, stranger things. So, are you? Or is someone playing a rather distasteful trick?

investigation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

you do realize that door could very well likely lead to any plethora of planes or realms, probably more likely than it is to simply lead to another room. But let's just dive straight in! After all, what could possibly go wrong?! the dragonborn shakes his head and mutters the impatience of people.

Tiberius looks to the frantic lad, a slightly shocked expression on his face.

me? Bring you here? Hah, preposterous, I don't even know you, besides, I've been brought here as well. Quite the envasvise force whatever it was. He looks around then up at the door. Moving up and running a clawed finger over it. I say, do none of you know why we are here? he grumbles a bit under his breath. Then turns suddenly remembering others were here. Well? Speak up lads.

Will get everything situated fully tomorrow once I get access to books again.

ah, greetings guests, come, come, I was just about to read the portents. No no, None of that augury divine poppycock. This is real fortune telling my friends.

Dotting in.
