Male Half-Elf Storm Druid 1
Tiberius has been silent during all of the excitement with the keelhauling and the flogging and hasn't taken part in the socializing much at all. At night he takes the opportunity to explore the rooms nearest to the bilge, where he could easily go without arousing suspicion. Earlier on he had pocketed the 12sp and the tindertwigs, and moved any of the combat gear he could to a more hidden location. perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Locke continues to work the bilge, and though he won't stray from his duties he does look around the room he's in, looking for anything out of the ordinary, or at least making sure he knows it inside and out. Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 There had better be something down there, with that roll :D

Tiberius meets Plugg's gaze evenly, with no trace of anger or resentment. "I've never cooked before, and haven't done much climbing in my life either. It seems to me that if you'd wanted a specific skill set you might've done better recruiting as opposed to kidnapping, though I have keen eyes and some experience running a ship, so I'm sure you can put me to good use."

Locke briefly considers jumping over the side and making use of a Touch Of The Sea spell to attempt an escape, but decides that on such a large ship there would almost certainly be someone capable of catching him, and he isn't completely sure of his ability to make it back to shore, besides which he figures musket is somewhere aboard, and he is loath to abandon it. Instead of any diving overboard he silently complies with the climbing order. Although he's spent time on ships, the rigging was never his strong point... 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Although overall he climbs fairly competently.

Locke quickly and quietly gets to his feet, and follows his captors above deck. He carefully watches for any signs of weakness in the crew, any uneven gaits, any cloudy eyes, and especially any signs of tension between them. As Locke walks he also tries to ascertain the crew's opinion of and intentions for him and the others from the tavern. It would be important to know how much these pirates value their captives if he and the others wish to plan an escape. Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

Locke begins to wake up, realizes he has no idea where he is or what happened the night before, and decides not to continue until he gets an idea of who or what is around him. He slowly cracks one eye, fighting off an excruciating headache, and looks around as best he can. Seeing several familiar faces from the tavern, all of whom seem to be in the same boat as he, so to speak (and also literally, judging from the rocking motion), the half-elf carefully stands, noting the loss of his pack and musket. "Well, I do recall several of you expressing your desire to set sail on a ship. It looks like you're living the dream... Does anyone have the faintest idea of what happened?"

Tiberius looks over at the hobgoblin once more. "But if your luck is good, then your bad luck will be what is used up on the cards, and if your luck is bad then your good luck will be wasted. It makes more sense not to worry about such things, Lady Luck will come and go as she pleases."

I think there may be some flaws in your card game, primarily the fact that since you aren't looking at one another's cards there's no way of knowing whether or not you have the same card as someone else... you could both have the same four of a kind, for example. Not a huge deal overall, but it could lead to some interesting in-game situations as people try to figure out who snuck in extra cards :P

One ship would probably be easier to DM, although it might also be slower and therefore more difficult... Is it possible if we had more than one ship that they would meet up at some point? Intrigue, drama, action, and romance are all great with me, I tend to enjoy as much of anything as the GM throws in. I'm up for anything short of explicit sex scenes- I don't know how dark/gritty/fun and breezy you tend to run games, but I don't really have many boundaries for content. Have fun away, can't wait to start.

Here is a page linking to a free rulebook on using the harrow deck, including rules for the game 'Towers'. I'm not sure how you'd realistically play here though, dice games are certainly easier to do on PbP :P

D: I'm here too! A plain looking man in plain looking hide armor walks into the tavern. He's of average height and weight, and nothing special in the looks department. The only remarkable thing about him is the device strapped to his back, a wooden and metal tube more than four feet long, wider at one end, where it sports some fairly sophisticated-looking machinery. Those familiar with firearms recognize it as a musket. The man scans the room quickly, and makes his way carefully to the bar, aware of everything around him. His eyes linger on each of the more unusual patrons, but he makes no attempt at conversation. He proceeds to take a seat at the bar and accept the spiced rum.

Hehe, I remember my human Pack Lord, at level seven he'd taken boon companion three times, and had level 7/level 6/level 6 animal companions :D I don't see a huge problem with you using the feat, and it's certainly not my call to make. I've just been in rules-lawyery mode for a little while because I'm working on rules for PvP, which requires lots of strict rulesiness (If Boon Companion worked for Summoners, then Broodmasters would rule the world!), sorry if it leaks out, fun is the point here ;_______;

In terms of Boon Companion for summoners, if you just cut and pasted 'eidolon' into the feat wherever it says 'animal companion or familiar', you would advance everything on the eidolon table here: Class Level, HD, BAB, Saves, Skills, Feats, Armor Bonus, Str/Dex Bonus, Evolution Pool, Max Attacks, and the special abilities like Link and Evasion. It's pretty clear what stuff is eidolon based. That said, eidolons are certainly not in the same category as animal companions and familiars. Druids (or wizards) are full casters, with an animal friend on the side. A good portion of the summoner's power comes directly from the eidolon, especially in the case of synthesists. I'm not saying don't allow the feat, but I think there's a reason Paizo didn't include eidolons in the wording of Boon Companion. Just my two cents.
I'm seeing lots of rolling on the Variant Tiefling Abilities table. I know in Calcifer's game everyone rolled, but in the rules you have up for this game it's not included. In case I am supposed to have tiefling stuff: 1d100 ⇒ 25
I would choose speaking with birds. If I'm not supposed to roll, disregard this :) Also, I'm considering dropping to 25 point buy for extra skills and something else. How does the "extra spell known" work for prepared casters, is it a slot, or just useless for them? Let me know if I'm being too high maintenance and I'll just go back to what I had. Certainly not trying to antagonize the DM with endless questions, I just like making sure my characters aren't going to need to be revised later. [Also filling out a more complete backstory today.]

Abilities are updated and the 30PB marked. As for gold, you said minimum starting gold, correct? So shouldn't I actually be removing gear I already had listed? I was under the impression that we don't actually start with gear in our possession, so I just have it listed at the bottom as opposed to written up in the attacks / AC sections, I can update it if needed.
Tiberius Locke, sailor and storm druid, born and raised in Ilizmagorti. I just got bumped out of another recruitment thread when the guy directly after me also posted a storm druid ;_____________; The character creation guidelines look totally awesome. Is it possible to have a firearm as my masterwork weapon? It would only be a pistol or musket, and it could act as broken for people besides Tiberius (same as Gunslinger's) in order to balance out the higher cost? I'd also be cool just having it be non-masterwork. For character creation points I'm going with the 30 point buy :D
Gotcha. I'll go ahead and figure out what I would have spent that 70gp on. DM, is it worth it to take the EWP (Firearms) feat, or are the odds of stumbling across a gun anytime soon slim to none for a non-gunslinger character? EDIT: To be clear, I read what you wrote about gunslinger/gun wielding characters being able to find guns, I just wanted to be sure this still applies to those with only proficiency, not class features. |
