History

Tiberius grew up an abandoned child in the Redshore district of Ilizmagorti. The harsh city honed his senses and his intuition, as well as exposing him to ships and piracy at an early age.

As Tiberius grew older, he began to develop a strange connection to the storms that blew over Mediogalti Island, and soon found himself with strange powers drawn from the forces of nature. Being a worshipper of Besmara, as well as a power-hungry individual, Tiberius fully embraced these powers, using them for both personal gains and entertainment.

Able to make a decent living for himself as a healer, Tiberius' day to day life was greatly improved from his early years. It's possible that Tiberius would have remained content living in Ilizmagorti for quite some time, were it not for a chance encounter with an old salt.

One day, an old man had need of Tiberius' skills, and in exchange he had a fascinating device to show off. It was a firearm, a musket, and it was the most interesting invention that Tiberius had ever seen. Appreciating the efficiency and deadliness of the weapon, as well the thunder-like noise that it emitted, Tiberius trained in its use for several years, during which time he and the man (an ex-pirate by the name of Owen Bartos) became close friends. The pair would often take a ride out to sea on Owen's old vessel Tigress, in order to fire the gun far from earshot of the city. A few weeks ago, however, Owen disappeared suddenly, and Tiberius had the realization that there was nothing left for him in the city. Finding his friend's gun, a dream of making it as a pirate (and a desire to obtain a gun of his own) took hold of his mind. The next day he jumped onto a departing ship, musket in hand and set off into the world.

Tiberius decided to celebrate his safe arrival in Port Peril with a few drinks at a tavern called the Formidably Maid. There were some suspicious-looking characters there, and he gave them a wide berth, but as he left, feeling a bit woozy from drink, he was set upon by thugs in a dark alley and knocked unconscious...

Personality

Tiberius is a serious man, not inclined to either politeness or dishonesty. He is extremely observant, and an excellent judge of character, but when it comes to actual social interaction his skills are somewhat lacking. He is very interested in gaining personal power, but tends to be patient and prudent, so doesn't readily make this known. Tiberius worships Besmara; he's not particularly religious, but recognizes that having the backing of the goddess of strife and piracy can really only help on his journey to becoming a powerful pirate.

Tiberius has a soft spot for children and animals, and he does his best to be kind towards them. He is also a good friend to those that have earned his trust and respect, something he learned from his time spent with Owen. It's unlikely that any strong friendships he forms will be tossed by the wayside, even for the sake of furthering his career. All of that said, he has no qualms about violence and even murder said acts are necessary in his pursuit of power, fame, or staying alive.

Tiberius is of average build, with grey eyes and grey-brown hair that is tied behind his head. The hair hides the tips of his ears, but his ancestry is fairly obvious for anyone who spends much time in his company. He has a short beard that he keeps well trimmed when possible. Although he tends to look gloomy, he walks with his chin held high and his back straight. He is dressed in simple grey clothes.
