Nicolas Paradise wrote: Sounds cool. There are also some alternative rules for Zombies I forget in which book but it lets them do things like have a fallen off limb independently crawl and attack or the top half of a zombie fall off and drag itself around and bite at feet.
As for ranged attacks depending on the terrain you set up you could have some Zombies that are stuck in roots or partially buried who throw rocks and dirt clouds.
Also look further in the chapter there is an event with Cultists of Garona(The Stag lords fort was originally a temple to her and the zombies are passed cultists) maybe you could foreshadow this by having a cultist onlookers who the party doesn't spot until the end of the battle who runs away but drops a holy symbol or some other cult item like a torture tool or hag nails/claws.
Great suggestions, thanks!

Nicolas Paradise wrote: I personally started with 6 plus the leader as kind of one of those video game moments where you walk into a graveyard and zombies pop out of the ground all over.
It wasn't hard and I don't think the party got hurt but it still took enough rounds to be fun.
I really feel like using a variety of Zombie types is the key to prevent this from getting dull. I have a Zombie Lord as the leader with a Scorned Hound for a pet (Stench Aura is Nasty), and am planning to use a Zombie Brute (full Strength) & a Dirge Piper (To give them AoE & Buffing, as his bodyguards, as well as some Zombie Shamblers for mooks.
I have a party of Six, so they should be OK balance wise. This should provide for some interesting variety in foes, though the Zombies are lacking in ranged attacks. (Which I Hope that my Team will realize and use to their advantage).
Thoughts?

This is Beautiful! I might have to adapt this for my own Campaign. Thank You!
I had exactly the same thought when we established the Party's Capital at the Stag Lord's fort, and RNGesus apparently did too as for their very first Kingdom Turn they rolled the event: Undead Uprising. XD
They are Level 4, so I am building something around a Zombie Lord, and planning to connect this to the "Lonely Barrow" as an additional hook.

Probably even the intended definition. Unless PC1 or PC2 or GM Core have a formal definition for it that I am not aware of.
It is certainly a better definition than equating 'your spell list' to a caster character's Repertoire or Spellbook. That would shut down a lot of the usefulness of scrolls and wands for most spellcasters. Up until one of the wizard discussions we had a little while ago I had taken that restrictive interpretation of your spell list being what a wizard has written in their book.
That was what seemed obvious upon my first read and it made me really question wands and staves in the game as loot if not tailored to a character. It is exactly that point (wands & staves as loot) that caused our confusion in the first place; as well as the idea that certain crucial spells (Like 'Summoner's Precaution') become difficult to justify when You are using a 4th+ level slot to cast them.
Thank You to everyone! @cavernshark & @Finoan The discussion itself is a big help. The Game does leave some interesting Grey Areas.
@Errenor - Good thoughts.

The spell on the wand just needs to be one you could theoretically cast either because it's A) on your tradition or B) you have access otherwise. For example, a Fey Summoner would have Primal + any spells which they'd otherwise be able to access via Fey Gift spells (Illusion and Enchantment). It's a little weird since the Remaster did away with spell schools, but I think you can get the idea.
That makes a whole lot of sense. Thank You!

I am playing a Summoner in our local Age of Ashes game, and my GM and I are trying to keep things as RAW as possible for the purposes of keeping the Characters Pathfinder Society Legal. We are trying to figure out how Wands work for the Summoner, and due to the similarities in their Casting Style, the Magus Class.
Due to the VERY limited Spells Known for both of these classes (no more than 5) the addition of Wands to cast certain daily prep spells (Such as 'Mystic Armor' and 'Summoner's Precaution') would be very valuable.
According to Archives of Nethys under 'Casting Spells from a Wand' You must have a Spell on your Character's Spell List to allow your Character to cast it from a Wand: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=3219
It also draws a distinction between "Spells on your Spell List" and "...from your Spellcasting Tradition".
What we are trying to figure out is if the Wand being used must contain one of the (Max 5) Spells that You know, or if it can be any spell of the Caster's Tradition and on their Spell List?
Thanks in advance!
I treat refocusing/Treat Injury RAW (I think?) and just allow it as an Exploration Activity. In a Party of four, You might have two refocusing, one Treating Injuries, and maybe one Examining something using Perception or another Skill right after a fight. We rarely 'Stop to Rest' excepting for a long rest.
Am I missing something?

What I think that I will do rather than mess with game mechanics is to allow the Eidolon to act as my "Mouthpiece" and to help the Player broker deals that way.
It's a lot squishier, but it prioritizes RP and Social Interaction. I will reward the Player with the Planar Servitor Ritual at 9th Level should they RP the Dealmaker bit consistently.
Thank You for your input.

Hello All,
I have a Player who wants to play a Diabolic Pact Maker type Character, and would like to Build the Character around the Planar Servitor Ritual: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rituals.aspx?ID=120
The idea is to take a Summoner with a Tempter Demon Eidolon which would act as one of the Secondary Casters, and the Recipient of the Deal being made as the other Secondary Caster. The Recipient would gain the "benefits" of the Deal and Pay the Costs. (This is also a creative way to use the Religion Skill to earn income!)
The Player could also attempt usage of this Ritual, but then would Themselves take on the associated Costs & Risks. (They would need an additional Diplomacy Skill user to act as a Secondary Caster)
Planar Servitor appears to Scale upwards and downwards without issue, and the restrictions of the Ritual based on it's description feel like they would be OK to me. I add Elemental Servitor to the above question simply because it is nearly identical in usage & verbiage.
My Question then becomes: Is there a particular reason that this Ritual is a 5th Level Ritual? Am I missing something or is it's Level something Grandfathered from previous Editions where this was a Spell?
Thoughts?

If you didn't intend to do so, then you should get the reporting corrected. As GM you should always get max rewards (regardless of whatever the players got).
Yes, thats exactly what I did. Corrected. Thank You.

The players keep track of their own XP, treasure, & equipment on their chronicle sheets.
Quote: 2) I noticed that the Character that I reported for GM Credit only had 2 Rep/Fame. (Does that mean He also has 2XP?) Yes. GMs earn full credit for Rep in the scenario/adventure. Sometimes players may not earn all of the Reputation (i.e. if they fail to complete a certain mission). Fame is not awarded anymore.
Quote: 3) Per the information found here: Beginner Box document,
I gave each of them 4 XP, 4 Rep, 4 Fame, 4 Prestige, and 14 GP. Not to be a broken record but... Is that normal, or did I screw up?
That's correct! However, as noted earlier, Fame is obsolete.

Just do the best you can. Mistakes happen and they can be fixed. It's usually best to fix mistakes after the game so you're not wasting valuable game time.
Thank you for stepping up to GM!
Cheers!
@roll4initiative
To point #1: Drop Fame, make sure Players Know to track their Equipment, Treasure, and XP on their Chronicle Sheets.
I'll also encourage them to keep both a Physical & digital copy of their character sheet that references thier Chronicles for easy review by other GMs at other Tables then.
As to point #2: so my own Character should have 4 rep/4 XP to match the Team's then?
Thank You for the encouragement. It's a pleasure to be running Pathfinder again, and I am so happy to see the vibrant Community that has grown and flourished in my absence. :)
Be Well,

Hello All!
We just finished up "Menace Under Otari - Upper Level" and went through the Reporting Process. I had a couple of quick questions for the Board.
1) After Reporting all of my Players gained 4 Rep/Fame, but I couldn't see anywhere that it tracked their XP, Treasure, or Equipment under the My Characters Tab. Is that normal, or did I screw up?
2) I noticed that the Character that I reported for GM Credit only had 2 Rep/Fame. (Does that mean He also has 2XP?) Same Question: Is that normal, or did I screw up?
3) Per the information found here: https://paizo-images.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/image/download/Beginner+Box +Sanctioning.pdf
I gave each of them 4 XP, 4 Rep, 4 Fame, 4 Prestige, and 14 GP. Not to be a broken record but... Is that normal, or did I screw up?
I am desperately trying to ensure that everyone's Character is Legal & getting all that they have earned. I'm good at running the game/not so good at the Paperwork. (Yet!)

I realize that this thread is a couple of years old now, but just for clarity: Leshy Ancestry is now a Player Core option as of the Remaster, and no longer requires a Boon per 'Minda' above, correct?
@Super Zero & @Tomppa
Thank You, that clears things up a lot. I have forwarded screen shots of this Thread to the Players who are participating on the 28th, and they send their appreciation as well.
Our plan is to finish 'Menace Under Otari's Upper & Lower Levels over the next few Sessions, and then run the two Pathfinder Society Introductory Scenarios. This group will then go on to run a Sanctioned AP.
At that point I will keep this series of Otari & the PFS Intro Scenarios open to run for other groups interested in Transitioning to Pathfinder II from certain WotC products, and for those looking to experience a great TTRPG for the first time. :)
We will also continue to work towards the establishment of a Society Presence in Gettysburg PA.
I appreciate You,
Thul

Greetings All!
I Hope You will forgive me if I am Posting this in the wrong place. My Group is trying to Establish a Pathfinder Society Presence at our Local Gaming Store. (Fourcorners Comics & Games; Gettysburg, PA) To that end I am running Menace Under Otari for a Group of Players who participated in my last (possibly final) D&D 5e Campaign.
I have been running TTRPGs for nearly 34 years, and in preparation to run PF2E: I spent some quality time on the Nonat1 & HowItsPlayed YouTube Channels, Converted my Favorite Basic D&D Adventure Book (Castle Caldwell & Beyond) into PF2E, and purchased physical copies of the available Core Products (To include the remastered Player & GM Core Books, and the Pathfinder Beginner Box). I have also browsed and skimmed the PFS Guide to Organized Play on the Paizo Website.
We have run through the majority of the Menace Under Otari (Upper Level), and plan to finish it/hand out Chronicles, and Report it on 01/28/24. Our first attempt has spawned a few Questions, and I’m Hoping You all can help me answer them. I want to have the Players make any changes to ensure that their Characters are Legal before we Play.
1)We have no Venture Officers here, so who/where do I send our Reporting Form to?
2)Related Question: Do we need to register an Event to have an ID # to report on said form?
3)Our Player of a Leshy Rogue has selected the Bladed Scarf as a Weapon. In addition to the World Traveler Boon, does he need a copy of Treasure Vault to use it? (He is happy to go to a Whip if needed)
4)Our Player of a Half-Elf Kineticist has purchased a Physical Copy of ‘Rage of the Elements’ to make sure She is legal - is there some kind of proof that She needs of that?
5)If there anything else I need to Know before I run the last part of ‘Menace Under Otari (upper Level)’?
Thank You for all of your help (…and Gentleness, I’m new here) in advance,
Thul
