How did you handle the treasure and magic items for the AP?

Sorry for the delay in response. I'm just winging treasure and items. My goal is to have magical items feel valuable, and not break the power level of the PCs with crazy items.

My general rule has been to give the PCs 20-25% of the listed value in gold, gems and loot in the AP. For example, the prizes for winning matches in the Champion's Belt are about 20% of the listed values in the AP. I'm letting them shop common and uncommon items from the Sane Magical Item Prices PDF for 5e that's floating around online; rare and very rare will need some in game searching around for, and you can't buy legendary items; they are won in battle or granted by a deity, or found in an extremely dangerous place.

Here is my Champion's Belt player document, including awards. I chose to do 5 rounds of combat, each one different in kind of a team blood sport way.

If there is a particularly interesting or iconic weapon or item, I include its 5e counterpart or homebrew something similar as loot. +1 weapons are quite rare, and my PCs probably won't find or be able to afford +2/+3 weapon until after 10th level.

Right now, the PCs have won a lot of gold for themselves in the Champion's Belt, but they'll need it to purchase consumables.

PC Name: Goldfish
Class: Monk
Adventure: Champion's Belt
Location: Training Hall
Catalyst: Critical hit from the morhg, surrounded by Spawn of Kyuss.

I'm running an adaptation of Age of Worms for 5e D&D. Goldfish, the Tabaxi monk, characteristically skirmishes instead of tanks. After steamrolling the Spawn of Kyuss in the Coffin Room, and the Ochre Jellies and Ghasts beforehand, the party was overconfident and decided to use the same tactics as before, with him in front bearing all of the melee attacks from the undead. Goldfish did alright for a couple of rounds, but the many attacks from the Spawn of Kyuss took their toll. Then the Morhg hit him with a critical hit of the tongue attack, rolling two natural 20's at the same time (Goldfish's dodge action gave attacks disadvantage). Goldfish was paralyzed and quickly finished off by the surrounding Spawn of Kyuss.

I'm in the middle of Champion's Belt with a 5e group. There's a conversion by Brian Criswell (Tormyr at enworld.org) online somewhere, but it's incomplete and many of the monsters and NPCs converted there I've preferred to convert myself.

If you have any more specific questions let me know.

I'm working on a conversion of sorts for 5e D&D and would love to see a Pathfinder conversion if anyone has it on their harddrive still, pet me know.
